No I don't. Just like I don't think we should fabricate stories about old veterans arriving in France and declaring: "I didn't need a passport in 45!" I think it hurts the cause and attracts the zealots.

I've been as outspoken about bad cops as anyone on here, eg. the Vancouver airport incident and the Geoff Mantler incident in Kelowna and they are both being dealt with in the courts...........I doubt if any one of those cops will serve again. We can't however let the bad stuff cops do overshadow the good stuff that is more often the case. I am sorry however to see the number of negative incidents that we seem to be hearing about almost daily. In the ones I cited the cops were pretty well 100% at fault, in my view. I suspect that there are negative incidents where the cops were less than 100% at fault. I know they get sworn at and spat on and in some cases I'm sure they just reach their "breaking point"- not that it is an excuse, but humans by nature are less than perfect.

Good thing that person who recorded the cop kicking the guy in the face had the courage to man up in real life. One less bad cop.

Name a few "good things" other than the basics of allegedly protecting citizens and their property.

I agree. We should prosecute the officers who break the law they are sworn to uphold. We must also be mindful that these officers are not representative of all police officers. Most Police Officers are no different than you and I except in that they have committed themselves to a career to serve the public. Examples of these incidents set against an entire police force like the NYPD or the LAPD is actually a small percentage.

The video at the beginning of this Op portrays us as living in a police state where Officers are brutalizing everyday citizens regularly and that our rights are being stripped. The very fact that we are discussing this right now without fear of retribution undermines that very accusation.

You want to meet up in front of any Toronto police station with ten other people and see how discussions like this go?
That the police investigate themselves, just like politicians make their own rules, shows just how gullible we are. Without the media, there would never have been a single charge brought against a cop who participated in the G20 disgrace. Even with lawyers advising reporters how to go about gaining access to the information the police have to provide, there are officers, even the chief of police blocking and frustrating any investigation into it. That the government that put the whole thing on refuses to open a public inquiry into it, shows just how much ass covering is going on.

Most of the people who suffered from police brutality were innocent bystanders.

So let me get this straight. If I am watching the cops arrest a guy... I have a better chance of getting a "wood shampoo" than they guy they are arresting?
