Maybe they are privateers. That would be a government sanctioned pirate. A fine tradition carried on for hundreds of years by Europe's major navy powers.

The inability to deal effectively with Somali piracy means that the world will see piracy arising in other areas of the globe. America can no longer sustain freedom of navigation. That means piracy will become a growth issue.
If you mean that as long as President Obama is in charge nothing agressive in nature will be done. I agree.

It's not going away anytime soon. The US can only do so much.

This sounds like an international problem, therefore, leaders from all countries should take responsibility.
They should just send out honeypots. On deck, one cigar smoking playboy looking type surrounded by 3 or 4 bikini clad hotties. Below deck, 50 Navy Seals armed to the teeth and ready for action.
Maybe the U.N. should have this clean up added to the list of their responsibilites. Maybe bring "W" out of retirement. :lol:

It just goes to prove exactly what I was saying would happen. Fight fire with fire and the fire gets bigger.... risks increase, death tolls rise.
Keep it up long enough and they'll just kill everybody on board the ships they capture, forget ransom demands, and just take the ships and cargo for their own.

The pirates even seize, and hold for ransom, aid cargoes of food.
When one is attacking ships on the high seas and murdering people, you kill the unfortunate misunderstood sweeties.

Why don't they draft up some money to invest in getting these people real jobs? Or it's best we just keep pirating their resources?
They had jobs fishing, just more money from extortion. Blow them and their little villiages off the map. Go in and hunt them down of course with Somalias permission.
