gerry - I invited a response from you by posting in this forum I get that.

My facebook page wasn't the place for it - I don't trample all over yours with my opposing opinions in nasty ways. Here is different - have at my opinions if ya like, I don't care - but already you've started with an attack on my character, leaving no room for a reasonable discussion.

go hard, gerry - we were friends, I won't participate in it with ya.

Hello Zan, it's been a long time, I hope all is well.

Were I driven by the genuine need to KNOW why Trump was elected, Canadian Content would not be my first choice in the search for understanding. First of all, most of us are Canadians as such we had no effect on the outcome of the election. Secondly, though we have American members, they are rather a small pool from which to draw any conclusions considering the millions of Americans who voted for Trump. Personally, I would be looking to hear from people in those states, solidly blue for generations, who turned tables and went red. What was it that drove them to forsake their party in favor of Donald Trump - of all people. Donald Trump is a complete anathema to my understanding of what the Democratic Party once stood for, so what made them do it?

You are right, those folks need to be heard and I applaud your efforts in seeking their voice. Good luck to you, Americans have been searching for an answer on how to unite their country for sometime now - they honestly thought Obama was the answer and gave him 8 years to do so, now as he prepares to leave office they find themselves with even a deeper divide wherein those who do not like the outcome of a democratic election are taking to the streets to protest.

Here you can seek comments, opinions, guesses, rants and raves but what you will be unlikely to find is a deeper understanding of why Americans chose Trump.

But that's just my opinion.

The reason Trump got elected is easy. The other candidates for both sides represented the same old same old. Trump being what he is will hopefully make both sides work to fix the problem that is the US government and the corrupt people that control it.Might not work but at least some people will be looking for answers instead of being part of the problem.

Its hard to respect silliness. If people want respect, say something respectful.

Exactly why no one respects you.

F*ck. Every. Single. One of you who are trashing women and races - even the ones silently reading this and saying nothing - that's why it prevails - silence is akin to condoning.

Maybe if you felt better about your own accomplishments and purpose in life, .

I'm just wondering if the line about "trashing women and races, multiple women are being referred to or if this entire post was about Hillary. For one I have no problems with other people's opinion of Hillary.......................that is their perfect right - for myself and I think I can safely assume several others don't share that same opinion. Possibly we see her in the same light 60 million Americans did. Are our opinions of her not valid or justified? Can we not speak our minds on here? Some of us simply don't see her the same way some others do. We should have that right.

Racist post about Michelle Obama causes backlash

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The director of a West Virginia development group and a mayor are under scrutiny after a racist post about first lady Michelle Obama caused a backlash and prompted calls on social media for both women to be fired.

Clay County Development Corp. director Pamela Ramsey Taylor made the post following Donald Trump's election as president, saying: "It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I'm tired of seeing a Ape in heels."

Clay Mayor Beverly Whaling responded: "Just made my day Pam."
