I've been away for a bit... and I'm so goddam sorry I bothered checking in.
I don't harbour any illusions I've been missed, most of the folks I interacted with around here left long ago too, those that remain probably remember little more than my jack boots tromping around trying to get you to act like humans... til I handed that pointless endeavor off, tired to the bone of asking people to treat each other with decency here.
I used to like to lurk around in here, sifting through the crud for the pearls among swine, info to educate myself with, links to other points of view, opportunities to open my mind - but it became increasingly tiresome to do the work for such little payoff; Iike so many others, I returned less and less often.
Ha - it's almost ironic - I thought I'd find some discussion here that might help me put some perspective on what's going on to the south of us. Unlike what I'm seeing here, I genuinely want to KNOW what drove millions of good people to choose Trump - they need to be heard, and we need to figure out how to meet the gap without resorting to the worst end of the continuum for a solution, and quell such drastic reactions here at home... by looking for reasonable people and solutions to meet that gap.
NO extreme will ever meet the wants and needs of any nation.... and I came here looking for the middle ground?

I'm completely sickened by the racist, misogynistic posts in this thread.
There are human beings reading this sh!t who actually have to live in the presence of that kind of inhumane treatment - (I'm one of them, btw - because when you talk like that about any woman, you represent your opinion of all women) directed at us daily.
I've no doubt that all of you flinging this filth would be the FIRST to howl if it was directed at you or women you love. But in order to be considered in any way real or worthy of protection from this kind of assault, women must first be thought of in some kind of context that is important to you. F*ck the rest of 'em, right?
It's all moot anyway; y'all make me laugh ... as if any of you old-assed, ugly douchbags could just snap your fingers and get laid - even by an ape. I'd love to see pics of you on a public forum with a bunch of women detailing all the reasons they find you disgusting, unattractive, and therefore of no obvious value.
The fact that this is even a subject of discussion in ANY context - let alone in relation to what's best for a nation - one that has huge impacts and influence on broader global issues - speaks to why I can't stand this place anymore.

I am so happy now that I see the forum isn't also just sitting by saying nothing, as I
was beginning to think this sort of thing was just being accepted as the everyday chit chat of
many of the posters on this forum.
I felt and still feel so disgusted and disappointed in these people who think it is not only funny

It was women voting for Trump that got him the Presidency. It's no mystery. Apparently they don't feel the same way you do about him.

Women raised under the protection of white male privilege (you can bash/assault/rape/restrict/mock/catcall any woman except one of mine) have no f*cking clue what they're talking about, or what they're wishing upon their sisters.
They chose from the basest, most primal place - fear - just like the men fighting to keep the playing field so incredibly uneven.
Until they find the courage to look outside their own state of grace that exists ONLY because of the men in their lives, I lump them in with other misogynistic racists until they've walked the same path.
... and frankly, I don't give a rat's a$s about anybody's opinion - male or female - who hides behinds racism... or any 'ism... to justify any weak, lazy behaviour that denigrates another human being rather than looking for ways to make room for everybody on this planet, equally.
I include many women in that statement - many of them take the opposite tack, and verbally brutalize all men - that's just as ridiculous, and not my game. I fight for mens' rights in regards to divorce and custody issues regularly, and concretely. I combat man-bashing where it crops in my path; how can we ask men to look deeper if we're not willing to?
Make no mistake, my post was not directed only at men, it was directed specifically at the men in this thread who are responsible only for what harmful behaviour flows out of their mouths and their keyboards. (If there were women contributing to that in here, I was directing it to you even more!)
