Are you saying it is okay to call someone of your own ethnicity an A hole, that's just an insult.
But if you call another ethnicity an A hole, it's racist?

That's just plain dumb! If you want equality, then an A hole is an A hole regardless of ethnicity. Or does equality only apply when it's about something good?

That is the game the minorities play though. Any time you say anything negative about them it is based upon racial hatred and the SJWs jump to their assistance. It doesn't matter if you called them lazy because they don't work, it's racist and they get the left-wingnut liberals on their side regardless of the truth. Conversely if they call you a "cracker bitch" or anything else it is based upon you being a racist and your own fault for being such a horrible person and again the left-wingnut liberals are on their side.

It is disgusting to see such bullsh*t perpetrated on a daily basis across our country and it is also one of the major factors in Trump winning...people are tired of the bullsh*t

You think repeating the question's going to change anything? You're almost as stupid as Smacky.

I can agree with this. How about a new approach though?

How about stepping up, or finding someone you can support that DOES embody the changes you want to see - for real?

If the best change you can get behind is Trump... you're not trying very hard.

And I say this while watching very similar issues erupting all over the US getting reignited here in my country.

I may be railing against close minded bigots here - not everyone, I do know that - but I've recently renewed my commitment to confront hate and fear where I find it. I found it here today instead of what I really wanted - which was more tools and tangible information to bolster that commitment. Now, I've trapped myself in another online discussion - saying nothing new - directing words - pleading(?) to people who only care if their own selfish, protected little bubble improves, and screw every one else.

It always comes down to who's hand is in who's pocket -that was what the choice became - xenophobia vs money.

We can do better, but not until we start thinking better, more critically, more solution-oriented, and with a much cleaner, far more humane approach to what it is we value, WHO we value, (and who we don't - and why not??) and what we actually want for ourselves and our children.

I read something recently:

"The people of America are not all misogynistic and racist... it just wasn't a deal breaker"

It should be.

It's racist to make the leap that black people look like apes.

If you didn't link it in your mind's eye it's not racist.

I never drew the link. YOU did.

*I* did?

Read a few of the links I offered ya - I haven't been alive as long as that word has been used to denigrate people of colour - but apparently you just crawled out of your rock to try and keep the problem with this word alive and well. Again, f**k you.

..... - I thought I'd find some discussion here that might help me put some perspective on what's going on to the south of us. Unlike what I'm seeing here, I genuinely want to KNOW what drove millions of good people to choose Trump - they need to be heard, and we need to figure out how to meet the gap without resorting to the worst end of the continuum for a solution, and quell such drastic reactions here at home... by looking for reasonable people and solutions to meet that gap.

NO extreme will ever meet the wants and needs of any nation.... and I came here looking for the middle ground?

Were I driven by the genuine need to KNOW why Trump was elected, Canadian Content would not be my first choice in the search for understanding. First of all, most of us are Canadians as such we had no effect on the outcome of the election. Secondly, though we have American members, they are rather a small pool from which to draw any conclusions considering the millions of Americans who voted for Trump. Personally, I would be looking to hear from people in those states, solidly blue for generations, who turned tables and went red. What was it that drove them to forsake their party in favor of Donald Trump - of all people. Donald Trump is a complete anathema to my understanding of what the Democratic Party once stood for, so what made them do it?

You are right, those folks need to be heard and I applaud your efforts in seeking their voice. Good luck to you, Americans have been searching for an answer on how to unite their country for sometime now - they honestly thought Obama was the answer and gave him 8 years to do so, now as he prepares to leave office they find themselves with even a deeper divide wherein those who do not like the outcome of a democratic election are taking to the streets to protest.

Here you can seek comments, opinions, guesses, rants and raves but what you will be unlikely to find is a deeper understanding of why Americans chose Trump.

But that's just my opinion.

I've been away for a bit... and I'm so goddam sorry I bothered checking in.

I don't harbour any illusions I've been missed, most of the folks I interacted with around here left long ago too, those that remain probably remember little more than my jack boots tromping around trying to get you to act like humans... til I handed that pointless endeavor off, tired to the bone of asking people to treat each other with decency here.

I used to like to lurk around in here, sifting through the crud for the pearls among swine, info to educate myself with, links to other points of view, opportunities to open my mind - but it became increasingly tiresome to do the work for such little payoff; Iike so many others, I returned less and less often.

Ha - it's almost ironic - I thought I'd find some discussion here that might help me put some perspective on what's going on to the south of us. Unlike what I'm seeing here, I genuinely want to KNOW what drove millions of good people to choose Trump - they need to be heard, and we need to figure out how to meet the gap without resorting to the worst end of the continuum for a solution, and quell such drastic reactions here at home... by looking for reasonable people and solutions to meet that gap.

wtf was I thinking?

I'm completely sickened by the racist, misogynistic posts in this thread.

There are human beings reading this sh!t who actually have to live in the presence of that kind of inhumane treatment - (I'm one of them, btw - because when you talk like that about any woman, you represent your opinion of all women) directed at us daily.

I've no doubt that all of you flinging this filth would be the FIRST to howl if it was directed at you or women you love. But in order to be considered in any way real or worthy of protection from this kind of assault, women must first be thought of in some kind of context that is important to you. F*ck the rest of 'em, right?

It's all moot anyway; y'all make me laugh ... as if any of you old-assed, ugly douchbags could just snap your fingers and get laid - even by an ape. I'd love to see pics of you on a public forum with a bunch of women detailing all the reasons they find you disgusting, unattractive, and therefore of no obvious value.

The fact that this is even a subject of discussion in ANY context - let alone in relation to what's best for a nation - one that has huge impacts and influence on broader global issues - speaks to why I can't stand this place anymore.

F*ck. Every. Single. One of you who are trashing women and races - even the ones silently reading this and saying nothing - that's why it prevails - silence is akin to condoning.

Maybe if you felt better about your own accomplishments and purpose in life, you wouldn't need to roam around in forums flailing your tiny hands at women and people of colour who happen to have more guts, determination, and ****ing honour than all of you together can fit on a single one of your itty bitty d!cks.

Zan out - and I hope none of you stumble out of this hate-soaked echo chamber.
Bye..don't let the door hit your a$$ on the way out. Your rant places you high on the scale of man-hating b*tch and makes any little bit that may have some validity not worth reading. Some of what you say may be correct but hey, even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes and it is obvious you are a self-centered misandrist who cannot even recognize you spew the same drivel toward me that you complain about toward women.

Yes Mowich you are correct - I came to the wrong place for what I was looking for.... but I'm looking everywhere, not just here.

Maybe I'm more looking to see where the pockets of need are, trying to identify what can I do as one individual to understand, and raise the level of desire to hope for something better - before we're in the same boat as the US.

Our own elections last year didn't have far to go to reach the same place the states are in now... and we're a mere 3 years out from our next... I'm paying attention, is all. Somehow the conditions for a Trump to happen did happen - and if I can do anything to make sure we don't head down that road, I will. This is probably not the place for me to apply my efforts though.
