Interesting study, and I find no reference in it that being liberal or conservative is an indication of intelligence or lack of it. What the study essentially states is that liberals and conservatives process information differently and react differently to that information.

And, Colpy, if I read that BS statement from Churchill about liberals and conservatives one more time I will have to retaliate with a quote of my own.

Because they're afraid of Bear's...Duh!

Yet they aren't the one's hiding up in trees are they? There is nothing to fear from bears. They are natural and when you understand and abide the rules that govern bear thought and movement, their intent and manner is as predictable as the days on a calender.

You should try and test that theory Unf.

When you get out of the hospital, let me know how it went.

Buddhism still has evil spirits and karma will get you.

And? There is evil in the world. That doesn't mean that fear is the motivating factor.

Some people, no matter what their religion, are good because it is within their nature, most people are good because they fear the consequences.

That's purely subjective.

A man has been arrested for the bizarre offence of barking at a police dog.

Ryan James Stephens has been charged with teasing ‘Timber’ the dog by barking and hissing at the K9 animal inside a police patrol car in Mason, Ohio.

The 25-year-old appeared to be very drunk and claimed ‘the dog started it’ when asked why he was harassing the animal, police said.

As people get older they become more conservative and begin to believe in a god....reality begins to slip away.

Btw, Ralph Klien has been diagnosed with dementia.

Guess that means I am not old yet.

Fear is the only motivating factor of all politics and religion. He who instills the most fear wins.

So what about the NDP? They instill the most fear in people and they are little more than a fringe party.

Do either one of them have a functional brain?

At risk of sounding repititious, N.D.P. is the best party.........................until someone else's money runs out.

I don't recall exempting them from the fear factor but the other parties sure use a lot of fear when talking about the NDP and even more when discussing the Bloq.

Show me a party that doesn't use other people's money. It is called taxes.

The party system killed democracy.

Other than some personal satisfaction of some sort what is the point of supporting a party?

Boy you members are great when you tackle a meaty and somewhat arguable topic....loved this thread.

I think life circumstance does play a major role (not only just youth training and current age) - but how our lives have spun out - if we have succeeded in many of our goals, been happy or disappointed in what life has brought us.

Another thing is illness or disability physical and mental - as we age we tend to lean upon religion or strongly worded and secure
(conservative) principles rather than the forward-looking liberal eagerness of our youth.

I think this our belief systems tie in closely with our circumstances of life whether they are "best for the nation at large" or personal hope. I have to restate my belief however, I will always be grateful we do not
think or behave like pod people and feel disagreeing with each other to reach common goals healthy and
profitable (excluding the onset of war and conquering of course).

Unforgiven, I am now convinced you are totally out of touch with reality.

Which makes arguing this point (or any other) with you a waste of time.

Please, if this was a joke, over my head, let me know.........I don't get it.

Just for anyone else out there, the behaviour depicted is idiotic.

The pic is of an Asian bear that in all likelihood was raised in captivity and has been for generations. That said, I have had probably over a hundred bear encounters in my life and not once has one shown me any aggressive tendencies or gave my pause to fear. Of course, they are very powerful animals and deserve a lot of respect, but for the most part they are gentle and curious creatures. Anybody who starts a fight with one, though, deserves what they get.

Northern Ontario,
A bear only has one thing on his mind .....Food.....If he's hungry..don't mess with him...
Trouble is...you don't know when he's hungry.
