In case you have forgotten, when unions were stronger the government did not allow exporting of jobs. MADE IN THE USA was something we were all proud of.

Now it seems different. I watched the video. They've become the bullies
much of the time. That's not a good thing.
That sounds like some Right winger nutter conspiracy theory. Any ancient aliens involved who are lead by Elvis out of the Pentagon?Unions aren't about freedom of assembly.
They're about making money for union heads.
It gets even better, even though you have to pay those union dues, you aren't protected by or served by the union you pay them too.
Are they beating and shooting Execs using hired thugs to do the dirty work?At one point, Unions stood up for the little guys against the bullies, be they
companies, gov't, etc...and that was a good thing.

The anti-union company was so despeate they had to run under permit? That's hilarious.Funny you should bring up mining, when I worked for Dynatec Mining, another anti union company, we got paid union wages, and received union benefits.
Are they beating and shooting Execs using hired thugs to do the dirty work?
Why did it take the BC Govt two weeks to cough up a measly 2 bits when it cost 4 bits to see the BC Govt do a high diving act?I'm not sure if you recognize the irony in that statement. Do you remember John Fryer, biggest f**king a$$hole shipped out of England and former head honcho of B.C.G.E.U. We walked the picket line in the pouring rain for two weeks based on what the jerk told us he was going to get us. At the end of two weeks we were able to get about two bits which he urged us to accept, in exchange for the gov't sending a sh*tload of money to some third world country. Those A$$holes (top union honchos and top execs and gov't echlons) are all in bed together. The man on the end of the shovel is on his own while the Union is bleeding him for dues. I told the A$$hole as much too. The Union didn't like me, but they took the dues no problem!

BC...When you add two bits to the pay of 30,000 employees, that two bits is for eternity, whereas the "high diving act" is a one time payout (not to mention God knows what favours in return)

Your surest job protection comes from putting your nose to the grindstone and out performing everyone else and don't whine!-![]()

Now that corporations have the same rights as people they should also have the right to bear arms and marry.Whoever it was that gave Corps the Rights of a Person should be shot and pissed upon. TWICE!
"Compensation of the underpaid" includes people on government assistance. Good luck with that. The solution is increasing the compensation of the underpaid so they are also fairly compensated rather than decreasing the pay of the fairly compensated so they are also underpaid.
My friend, Sears charges $69.95 to deliver from the nearest depot (even a block away) if the item is over 35 kg.You could be right, but in my life time I've seen the letter rate go from 5 cents to 68 cents.
I use it so seldom now, my thinking may be out of date. We ship gift cards rather than parcels.
Sears delivers free!
I doubt couriers that were Teamsters or Rail had any issues. That's what Brotherhood and Freedom of Assembly is all about and what it takes to protect Rights of the works. All workers. God bless em'. Utility and and trade Union workers can fill those alleys easily and with permits too.Power corrupts, etc...& I base my opinion on more than just the video in the O.P.,
but who where the physical antagonists in the O.P.?
You and I are both local (as in 'here' :lolso we'll both remember that Wheat Pool
Viterra thing on Albert & Vic. I know several couriers (not even delivering to that
building, but needing access to that alley way) as the Union blocked them.
The Police (unionized) being present did nothing but time them. It seems they can
block the sidewalk for five minutes. At the five minute mark, they'd let one delivery van
through and then block the rest, etc...& it was just beyond ignorant. Fantastic Public
Relations. If you don't want to be seen as a pack of thugs & ****faces, don't be a pack
of thugs & ****faces. Seems pretty clear to me, and no....nobody was videotaping this
and it's not on YouTube.
I think the union concept is a good one, and they have done a lot of good at one point.
I believe they've evolved beyond what they once where though, and I don't think that
evolution has been all in a positive direction by any means.
The rights Unions won weren't to be paid at rates that kill companies and force non-union people into destitution. Unions have become as greedy as investors.I'm sure our grandparents must be spinning in their graves. We are in the process of pissing away all the rights they fought so hard to achieve.
At some point people will figure out that Walmart, Home Depot and all these other union busting corporations are evil. Grinding poverty with no hope of a better future is a recipe for revolution. Eventually we'll have to riot and strike again to get fair compensation.
