Is there really a gap?
do understand that people who are in non-union jobs have to pay union dues anyway???
WTF??
and they wonder why all the jobs are going elsewhere....
Jobs are going elsewhere because they can abuse people elsewhere.. How long do you think it will be before people in Asia say "**** this noise, we're not going to be abused by foreigners any longer"?and they wonder why all the jobs are going elsewhere....
This law is about busting unions, lower wages and over time fewer worker rights, benefits and less job protection... Eventually there will be two classes of people. Those who own corporations and people with McJobs. I hope Canadians are smart enough to know that a race to the bottom is a bad idea.
Unions aren't about freedom of assembly.I could care less about Govt/Public employee unions but when Freedom of Assembly is gone for one, it's gone for all.
I've worked for non union manufacturers, that were more than just competitive in wages and benefits. My biggest objection to Unions is the disparity in wages between Union and non-Union paycheques.
It gets even better, even though you have to pay those union dues, you aren't protected by or served by the union you pay them too.do understand that people who are in non-union jobs have to pay union dues anyway???
WTF??

Honda and anyone of their tier one suppliers.I've seen pink rocks too....
I can't really say one way or the other, but I think any major industry left in Canada that isn't union, wants to keep it that way.... the point being, they're not a majority.
It's the only smart way too - until its product become a threat to profits for a multinational throw-away provider. Thing is, a mucker at Strobie Mine pulls in a hell of a lot more income for the same menial task as the guy who shovels away the spill from one of Beamish's crushers.Honda and anyone of their tier one suppliers.
Not only are their wages the same as the CAW, so are their benefits.
That's how they keep the union out.
I make as much as a non unionized sub contractor (More actually), as unionized welders. The only difference is, I pay for my own benefits. But since I make more I'd say it works out to about even, if not a little better on my side.

The only legal way to do that, is to be a competitive with wages and benefits.
I'll give you that.Thing is, a mucker at Strobie Mine pulls in a hell of a lot more income for the same menial task as the gut who shovels away the spill from one of Beamish's crushers.
They can also kill the goose that lays the golden egg! Case in point postal union. Postage has gotten so high now, that people either don't use the post as there are other means today and if you have to ship a parcel, cheaper and just as fast to put it on the bus.
Not hard to see where minimum wage has gotten us!
Yup, it looks like we are headed for Hunger Games. People would be well advised to brush up on their barter skills. You should examine the benefits unions have fought and won for you. Wall Mart has never lain a golden egg and should it decide to do so you certainly, being a working class slob like me, will never be invited to shave a bit off and as is the time honoured reality they will also kill and eat the golden goose themselves and you'd get none of that either. It was your sentiment that made it possible to export millions of manufacturing jobs to the slave countries and they got no fracking golden eggs either. This economy of the west has been systematically sacked since the advent of Free Trade and if you're enjoying that you will no doubt be elated by the new great depression. You see there is every reason to be very afraid of the next few years because total system breakdown is what was planned and that cannot be avoided. Union busting is just an efficiency so the very last drops of blood may be extracted from paper thin labour. It'll keep them frightened and tired and maybe too busy to fight back or so they hope.![]()

At one point, Unions stood up for the little guys against the bullies, be they
companies, gov't, etc...and that was a good thing.
Now it seems different. I watched the video. They've become the bullies
much of the time. That's not a good thing.
