  • Fine thanks, and you. Enjoy the forum, usually just a quiet lurker...but sometimes my dander gets up. Thanks for breaking up the monopoly!
The avatar is my grandson and no - he is not in a costume. He is in a wheelchair. He is actually wearing an argyle cardigan and he has a part of his chair that wraps around his rib cage to assist him in sitting up and also so that he does not slide out of the chair. He also has a strap that goes across his waist area and sometimes his feet have to be strapped in as well. He has no control over his limbs so at times that he is excited, he can almost knock you out with a good smack of his hand/arm or he hurts himself by kicking things when his legs kind of go astray. We make every attempt at not belting him in anymore than necessary but we also have to be aware of how he can hurt himself so depending on where we are, he is either as free as can be or totally strapped and belted into his chair. He probably looks like he has something on his head - that is his head rest on his chair. He can hold his head up but he has a tendency to let it either fall back or droop or even lean to one side. Mostly he lets his whole body lean to one side but he can straighten up when we remind him to. Don't apologize. If you have not seen a child strapped in like Thomas is, then you would not realize what is happening. Thomas is a wonderful loving boy and he's easy to love. My family is well for the most part. My grandson's Mom made a choice to leave the family and that has been hard on everyone. Mostly the children, as Thomas has a younger brother and sister. Thomas loved our dog and as I told Ron earlier, we had to put our dog down today. It hasn't been a great day or even a great month. I really should have made this a pm as it is getting a little too "out there" for me to discuss. I think I will close it off before I become too sad.
Take care Shadow. Talk to you again soon.
No - we didn't have a forced move. We needed a bigger house. I felt so cramped in our other house I needed to move. We went from about 1500 sq. ft. to about 2550. Getting used to it now but at first it seemed so big.
I guess you do similar work to my husband. He guards too but he is called a Commissionaire. He could probably work until he's about 80 if he was so inclined. He's had just about enough of his job too. We've both worked about as long as we want to. Stay long enough to pay for all the little extras we want like new TV's, drapes, new beds etc. etc. Bought two PVR'S today for the TV. They were a good price so we went for it. Bought a big screen TV and were told it was the newest model out but our son says the salesperson lied to us so - it's going back tomorrow. He can go to the store with his Dad on Wednesday and make sure we come home with the right one. I have to work a few hours that day even though it is Remembrance Day.
Our move has been a long haul even though we moved only a short distance - maybe a mile. It is slowly coming together and will be great once we really settle in.
My husband worked graveyard during the time change and had to work an hour over time also. He was really tired when he got home but we spent the two days before that moving things here and he spent many days after that moving as well. It's a long story that I will save you from. Have a good night.
I don't know what type of guarding you do. I'm assuming it is not for the Corrections Branch because they don't like to call themselves guards. I'm sure that Ont. must be like BC when it comes to Corrections - they are not laying off - they are hiring.
    Hey Shadow,
Nice to see you back. I'm glad it looks like you will keep your job. That is a terrible worry when such a situation arises. Hubby and I had a very quiet Halloween. We moved residences on the 30th and are now living in a townhouse. For the first time since we married we didn't have one single kid come to the door. Seemed really odd. I don't know anyone in here yet. It will probably take until Spring for that to happen. I've met the ladies on each side of us but just briefly. We are too busy a family to seek out friendships right now.
Anyway, I'm glad you are back. Your "co-mods" have been doing a fine job of keeping things under control. It's been very pleasant posting.
Could be a lot worse.. Been off work for 3 months and 3 more to go before I go back from a car accident.. Was a pretty bad one but not looking back and lucky I came thru with what I got..
Hey Shadow, good to see you around here! It's not the same without you. Hope you are well!
well, at least on the plus side, you were dressed as a security guard. lol.
I see you checked out my profile. Were you surprised to see a Yank here? I am an extreme leftie from the states.
I'm doing alright shadow... my damn computer is giving me grief, but life is good besides that. lol.
