The avatar is my grandson and no - he is not in a costume. He is in a wheelchair. He is actually wearing an argyle cardigan and he has a part of his chair that wraps around his rib cage to assist him in sitting up and also so that he does not slide out of the chair. He also has a strap that goes across his waist area and sometimes his feet have to be strapped in as well. He has no control over his limbs so at times that he is excited, he can almost knock you out with a good smack of his hand/arm or he hurts himself by kicking things when his legs kind of go astray. We make every attempt at not belting him in anymore than necessary but we also have to be aware of how he can hurt himself so depending on where we are, he is either as free as can be or totally strapped and belted into his chair. He probably looks like he has something on his head - that is his head rest on his chair. He can hold his head up but he has a tendency to let it either fall back or droop or even lean to one side. Mostly he lets his whole body lean to one side but he can straighten up when we remind him to. Don't apologize. If you have not seen a child strapped in like Thomas is, then you would not realize what is happening. Thomas is a wonderful loving boy and he's easy to love. My family is well for the most part. My grandson's Mom made a choice to leave the family and that has been hard on everyone. Mostly the children, as Thomas has a younger brother and sister. Thomas loved our dog and as I told Ron earlier, we had to put our dog down today. It hasn't been a great day or even a great month. I really should have made this a pm as it is getting a little too "out there" for me to discuss. I think I will close it off before I become too sad.
Take care Shadow. Talk to you again soon.
