Anybody ever find them WMDs in Iraq yet?
or Assad's poison gas in Syria?
nukes in Iran?

no?
oh well...

Having not found W.M.D.s in Iraq has absolutely nothing to do with their presence or not. There was gold in B.C. for millions of years before anyone found it. :) :)

Actually if we were smart, we could easily destroy the North Korean regime within a generation without firing a shot.

1. The US signs a treaty with China guaranteeing that even if Korea reunites, US troops will remain off of what is presently North Korean soil except to defend Korea only after a clear declaration of war against of invasion of Korea by a foreign power not including North Korea as long as its regime exists. This would reassure China of its primary fear of Korean unification. After all, I'm sure even China recognizes the advantages of a united Korea. It just doesn't want US troops on the Chinese border.

In exchange, Chinese will impose stricter trade sanctions against North Korea.

2. Canada signs a free-movement-of-people and free-trade agreement at least for sole proprietorships, worker cooperatives and consumer cooperative natural monopolies with China in exchange for China imposing even stricter trade sanctions against North Korea. This way the trade agreement will compensate for China's economic losses resulting from the sanctions.

With this, the North Korean regime would collapse peacefully within a generation.

Zero chance on the free movement of people unless they are specifically forbidden to work in Canada. Otherwise it will just drop the wages paid here.

You missed the official admission there never was any weapons of WMD in iraq and they knew that all the time they were lying about it?
Assad never had the gas and iran doesn't have nuclear weapons either.

you don't think the ol government might not be pulling your wire (over NK ) again?
Like they just did with russian hacking?

Or at least free trade between sole proprietorships, worker cooperatives and consumer cooperative natural monopolies and maybe free movement but with Chinese being subject to what we might call a visa-free-workers' minimum wage that would be set higher than for Canadians citizens and permanent residents. In other words, any Chinese working in Canada without a work visa must earn a minimum wage that would apply to that class of worker which would be higher than for Canadians. This would thus limit them to higher-paid work and so make it difficult for unskilled Chinese to find work in Canada.

President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia said his country opposed cutting off oil supplies to North Korea as part of new sanctions being considered in the wake of the country’s latest nuclear test, according to official accounts of his meeting Wednesday with President Moon Jae-in of South Korea.

The United States and its allies are pushing for a global embargo on oil exports to North Korea as the United Nations Security Council debates a new round of sanctions against the North. Russia has veto power over any such Security Council sanctions.

North Korea has been getting most of its oil from China. But it has been trying to increase imports from Russia as an alternative source of energy for its military, as well as for its decrepit industries, amid signs that Beijing is growing impatient with the North’s nuclear adventurism, South Korean analysts said.

But “we should not act out of emotions and push North Korea into a dead end,” Mr. Putin said, according to dispatches from South Korean reporters. “We must act with calm and avoid steps that could raise tensions.”

His remarks came on the same day that the South Korean Defense Ministry said that the United States military planned to complete the deployment of an advanced missile-defense system in South Korea on Thursday.

The deployment of that system, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system, or Thaad, is vehemently opposed by China, which argues that it will exacerbate tensions with North Korea and could undermine China’s own nuclear deterrent by giving the United States another means to monitor its missiles.

In April, the United States installed the radar and two of the six interceptor-missile launchers of the Thaad battery on an abandoned hilltop golf course in Seongju, 135 miles southeast of Seoul, the capital. The battery became operational immediately.

North Korean envoy calls Trump’s rhetoric ‘a declaration of war,’ threatens to shoot down U.S. bombers

https://www.washingtonpost.com/?wpisrc=al_alert-COMBO-world%2Bnation&wpmk=1

Trump did not have to react the way he did verbally (like a stupid bully). He has misplayed this badly and ony intensified the situatin.

Trump should try and learn the principle :

for every action *(including verbal) there is an equal reaction.

ie: his PROVOCATIVE undisciplined language is intensifying things.

and Technically........he has threatened NK..........and NK has the right to protect itself.

Who is to judge that TRump is any safer having Nukes than Kim would be?? The world sees Trump as erratic. Kim is erratic too.

Both are their own versions of hot heads.

The tragedy is that one is supposed to be a leader influencing most of the planet . ( he is in a very ;negative way) This is no laughable matter. One can only hope that the generals are a LOT smarter than Trump. ( and they probably are)
Most NB: Trump id NOT HAVE TO SINK BELOW KIMS LEVEL and yet that is what he did. and that is where he is taking America.

OB, what grade are you in at school? Ask your teacher or a grown up to explain the relationship between NK and the world since 1953.

It might be hard for you to understand, but NK and the US have been having these problems and talking this way for over 60 yrs.

Are you worried that NK will drop a bomb on your house? Don't worry. You won't feel a thing.

So why aren't they doing something to RESOLVE IE them as opposed to making them worse??

I suppose you think it is SANE for two erratic leaders to be playing one mashup in a nuke sandbox.

Throwing verbal hand grenades at NK is just plain stupid. The US is supposed to be better than that. It is supposed to be an example and smarter. Not some low life bottom feeder like Kim

OH........just ask the aging Japanese that were affected by the US A bomb if they felt nothing ?? See what they tell you about the horrific suffering they endured. AND STILL DO.

I don't think everyone understands the politics of the situation. I certainly don't, but I am smart enough to know that wiser, cooler heads than mine are looking after things. Let's break it down into two of the most far apart outcomes.

1. NK will cease to exist as a country.

The US is, as I type, chatting with China and Russia about the situation. Those three realize what the outcome will be should NK fire on anyone. They know exactly what military capability NK has - including their nuclear program and the reach of their ballistic missiles. One thing is for sure, I would be concerned more if I was China.

NK will force the hand. Like poker, NK will call and the others will be forced to play or fold. After the smoke clears, China will want a big say in what happens, which is fine. NK and China trade a lot, so after Kim Jong Un and his group are dead, China will take the lead to put the wheels back on the cart.

McArthur's ghost may scream, but China could conceivably annex NK.

2. Kim Jong Un and his advisors realize that they have gone too far, back off and things settle down.

This scenario has happened many times since 1953. NK whines, screams and threatens. Other countries throw them some money, food or sign agreements to shut them up for a while.
---

It would be prudent if China, Russia and the US formed a covert coalition of highly trained military troops to go into NK and take out Un, his advisors and senior military staff. The Russians and the US would have to find volunteers of Asian extraction if they wish to participate fully, but that shouldn't be a problem. At the same time, civilian agents with 22s have to start working inside the NK border.

Sound crazy? Like a movie maybe? As long as all the players are on board with it, things will proceed smoothly.

There is a marked difference between what is said or announced in public and what is actually happening. Tass, CNN and Xinhua report what they are given. While everyone here is arguing about what is right and wrong, and passing judgment on individuals or countries, the world continues to function...without your help or guidance.

China has the most to lose in this silliness. NK really is of no consequence. Not because of what the US or Russia is capable of doing, but rather, because of their big, red neighbour to the north. They do not like the disturbance in the Force. Disturb the balance and China will bite. They will have no choice.

They do not want the US anywhere near their border. They do not want nukes flying around anywhere near their border.

Ever inscrutable, they won't do much until the options run out, but you can rest assured that what the media is churning out isn't totally connected to reality. If China figures things are about to go bad, they will act and they will strike hard. It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall of any of the diplomats burning up the phone lines and Internets connections.
