Actually, it does. It's called distracted driving - especially in a car with the ash tray tucked under the cup holder....
That's why most I know flick the ash out the window.
With that logic, the radio is a distraction... guess we should rip those out of all cars and anybody caught talking on a cell phone should be shot on sight.
Back in my younger years of 18-21 I drove a few times stoned off my gourd with a car load of other people stoned off their gourd.... I completely understand that being high on pot can screw people's perspective and concentration while driving, as I've been in the car with a stoned driver and hit curbs and other stupid things.
Myself.... I was more paranoid of being pulled over for going a km over the speed limit.... I was keeping on the limit, constantly checking my mirrors, keeping my proper distance behind cars, making sure we all get from point A to point B as safely as possible. I was more careful driving stoned than I was sober
At the time we all lived in Pictou County, which isn't heavy with traffic and a lot of empty backroads to drive on with little traffic at night..... but since those days I have avoided driving high on pot... it's just not wise cuz if you do get into an accident, even if it's not your fault.... you being high will certainly come back to bite you in the ass.
That and not everybody who smokes pot has the concentration skills I have..... Even in those younger years, if I had too much and I knew my concentration abilities were greatly hindered, I wouldn't drive... there was a line I drew where I knew I had some, felt good, but my attention was still the same as sober.... and when I had too much, things were a little wonky and I didn't have the confidence in my abilities to drive safely.
In other words my paranoia was paranoid of my paranoia and thus, prevented me from driving when I was completely off my head.
Argue all you want. Unless there are a hell of a lot of obstacles on the road over a distance, you're not going to be all over the road - and the dashcam will tattle anyhow.
I smoke it too ... and am smart enough to enjoy it at home or some place close enough to walk.
Though I don't smoke and drive these days, I can honestly say that in my younger years when I did, I never swerved, ran a red light or anything.... I've passed several cop cars while stoned and none pulled me over, because I was concentrating on my driving and concentrating on the road.... There was no justification for them to pull me over.
I probably drove better stoned than I do sober due to being a bit more complacent & relaxed while driving sober..... cuz I don't want to get into an accident or hurt anybody while driving stoned, I was much more careful and more aware of my surroundings.
But it was too much work so I stopped and just drive sober these days
You can't enjoy a high if you're focusing on something serious the whole time.
But you should see me playing FPS's online when I'm baked.... hand/eye coordination is insane that I pull some interesting matrix moves and people get PO'd claiming I'm hacking or cheating.
Performance Enhancing Drug I suppose.... hope they don't make video games an Olympic sport
