I read a book a few years ago about Canadian concerns regarding identity and incorporation into America. I can't remember the name of the book or the author. The book is boxed up now so I can't get to it readily. But I do remember the cover. It was a depiction of an American flag with fifty stars and one maple leaf.
So you read a book..... good for you. Now go and read a few more to get a larger perspective from more then one opinion.
One book or one person's opinion isn't much to go by. If Canada is somehow incorporated into the US, then the US is also incorporated into Canada, thus both previous identities would be lost and you guys would have to deal with all of us coming along and screwing things up for you, not to mention demanding changes to how things are run in your country, etc. etc.
Either way, even if we are worried about our identity, you guys are worried about your own..... just look at your worries over immigration and people from Mexico coming into your country..... heaven forbid I mention anything about the Muslims.
If we're worried about our identity then you guys must be sh*tting your pants over yours.
Abandon pretense with me. I will not pretend with you. So please return the favor. I understand Canadian concerns about identity. I understand that Canada has in large part created an identity based on who Canadians are not, rather than who Canadians are. This is very problematic.
Once again, go read more books.
I am fully aware of the closeness of the last plebescite in Quebec. I understand the feeling of remoteness in the Maritimes.
Remoteness? I'm from the Maritimes and it sure as hell isn't remote..... Nunavut is Remote. Maine is a ferry ride away from Nova Scotia and attached to New Brunswick and NB is attached to Quebec...... when I went to the beach as a child, I could see PEI across the water, Newfoundland is also a ferry ride away from Cape Breton, Labrador is next door to Quebec..... need I go on?
Just because most of the Maritimes isn't land-locked, that doesn't make it remote.
Hawaii is remote.
By the way, it's "plebiscite"..... if you're going to try and use fancy words at least spell them right..... and that happened in 1995..... if you were at all updated and "Aware" of what was going on around here, you'd use some more recent information rather then something from almost 2 decades ago. We call it a Referendum, by the way.
Despite America's divisions, no serious person in America talks about dismembering the component parts of the US.
No because they'd be branded unpatriotic and end up having threats on their life or just plain shot by someone.
We fought a civil war over the subject. Canada has issues to resolve.
Indeed, everybody and every country has issues.... we deal with our issues by not killing each other in a war, but rather let people settle things in a democratic fashion. You guys should try it someday.
By the way, if you looked at any recent "books" or news in Canada, or followed any recent polls, you'd realize that the Quebec Separatist issues are no longer popular in Quebec and very few in Quebec have any interest in calling for another referendum..... they just like to bitch from time to time.

The American military can defeat anyone in conventional or insurgency tactics if it employs the rules used by the Mongols, or by the Han Chinese. If one is prepared to kill everyone, it is a simple matter.
Then give it a go and see what happens.
The criminal Obama has employed counter-insurgency tactics in his foolish war in Afghanistan.
Correction, the War-Criminal Bush created that war, Obama's just the guy who was left the job of cleaning up his mess..... but if Obama truly is a Criminal, then you guys have a real problem with letting criminals run your country and have more issues to deal with then any of us.
Even those tactics would ultimately work if he had the ten or so years necessary to devote to them. But he doesn't. People like me will use the war to bring Obama down.
lol.... maybe you should start looking at the idiot you guys voted in who started the whole damn thing in the first place, who's currently living comfortably in his fancy rich home in Texas. You remember that guy right? The previous President of the US??
George Bush??
That guy who had a couple of shoes tossed at his head?
That guy that most of the world hates?
Man you guys sure do have a short attention span.
You better hope Americans do not head north. Canada can't stop us without killing us in large numbers. And I don't think Canadians of this generation have the stomach for that. There are too many of us.
This Generation is the only one that has kept the most volitile area in Afghanistan in check for you guys since our troops landed there, so that your precious, fuct up little war didn't collapse in on your troops 3 weeks after you all pissed off to Iraq on another huge blunder.
And usually when one nation is invaded by another, that's the typical thing the defending nation does..... kill the invaders in large numbers...... Kind of like what's happening to your troops in Iraq and Afghanistan..... and do you seriously think your population would be so keen on the idea of having a full on war right at your door step, ie: the border between our nations?
Your population can stomach being in a war that is halfway around the world and can be safely watched in the comfort of their homes, via a TV...... but when they have to watch it unfold outside of their windows, that's a different matter.
Then again, most places in the US are already war zones with ghettos, gangs, mass school shootings and religious nuts bombing abortion clinics, I might be wrong.
Do you seriously think all the fighting would be in Canada?
Think for once...... Logically, Canada would have some heavy casualties and lots of damage, that happens during a war..... but considering we're your #1 supplier of oil that keeps your war machine running, if that supply was suddenly cut off, along with most of the other supplies you guys get from us.... you won't get very far and before you know it, you'll have one huge mess on your hands and sh*t would start flying over the border and suddenly your country wouldn't look too pretty either.
Keep in mind that we're also a part of the Commonwealth and have many Commonwealth nations who would most certainly back us up more then you guys..... we're also more in favor with Cuba then you guys, and Russia...... and China.... .and most of the other countries in the world who hate Western Civilization simply hate you guys more then they hate us.
This is all said not because of insecurity or fear that you guys would be stupid enough to attack Canada..... #1 - You brought it up, #2 - you need some education on the matter before you start boasting about what you think you can do, #3 - all of the above is logically sound in the above hypothetical situation....... and #4 - People like you require a reality check from time to time.
Poor America. There's just no hope here. But I know a land of opportunity. It's called Canada. And all we have to do is walk there. We'll bring the Mexicans with us.

Send not for whom the bell tolls....
"All we have to do is walk there." ~ Not anymore, thanks to your wonderful George Bush and his hyped up border security, whom you seemed to have forgotten about..... and even if you did sneak into the country, you'd either be tossed back, branded as unpatriotic by your fellow citizens & shot..... or we'd just send you off to the far north to patrol ice..... I hear it's a fun job with lots to do.
Another thing to keep in mind:
You might enjoy yourself coming in here and thinking you're pissing a bunch of Canadians off, but the reality of it is that we get even more enjoyment seeing you express your absolute ignorance and stupidity on things you clearly know nothing about, all the while proving our points and further adding to the examples of why we view you guys as we do.
Oh Hell.... The first wave of blackflies and mosquitoes will send all but the hardiest of y'all scurrying
Don't forget the Horseflies and Mooseflies.... Oh and the snow snakes..... all white, they're hard to see.... the only way to track them is to follow their tracks
I grew up in Minnesota. The winters in Ontario aren't any worse.
Really?
The same snow storm crosses over a US state and a Canadian Provence at the same time. Watching the Canadian news you'll hear there were power outages and at worst, a 50 car pile up..... no injuries.
Turn to the US channel covering the State that got hit at the same time, and you have massive, long term power outages, 5 people burned to death from lighting fires in their homes to keep warm and a 200 car pile up on the highway with 15 dead and 50 seriously injured...... and when a local guy is interviewed, it's always the worst storm they were ever in, in the 30 some odd years they lived.
In some places of Canada, yes, our winters might not be any worse...... But you guys simply can't handle snow and end up dying or having a complete city shut down for a week while you try and clear the snow with hair driers....... oh wait! There's no power to do that dummy! Pick up a damn shovel and start digging.
OH NO!!! Americans are dropping dead one by one from shoveling snow because they're so god damn obese!
