On a more serious note, Americans generally have a very favorable view of Canadians. That's because they don't know how terribly ambivalent Canadians are about Americans. But I do. I like you folks anyway. But I know you guys and gals because half of my relatives are Canadians.

I know your concerns about Canadian identity. I know your fears of domination. I know these resentments. There's something you should know about us. We are in the process of exploding on ourselves. And you guys and gals are too close not to be affected.

Edit: I have to add one thing. The British Empire saved Canada in the portion of the Napoleanic Wars called the War of 1812. It was Canada's protector then. A role later filled by the American Empire. I know. We all like to entertain myths.

The Canadian economy is fully integrated with America's. Canadian national defense is completely integrated with America's military. Canadian armed forces punch above their weight. But there are only about 60,000 Candians in Canada's splendid armed forces. That's what I'm talking about. Not bowel movements. The world is changing. Canada will change with it.

I guess my point is: People are using the term "third world" wrong. Historically, the term just means a country not aligned with Western capitalism or Soviet communism. I don't really get the pejorative nature of it.
