I like your attitude! Ya gotta wonder how a thread on school teachers could turn into arguing about bacon.

Actually I think the schoolteachers is the other thread, but I take your point.

I just don't get how geography figures in to the definition of better or worse. I don't consider myself better than anyone else nor do I think anyone else is better than me, least of all not based on where we live.

Now, arguing aboout bacon is a whole other matter. I consider myself a reasonable woman but sometimes things just need to be said! ;)

Point is they have fires in fort mac twice a week and there have been no fires from Cranbrook to clarseholm in southern Alta and B.C. this whole year,my scanners have all the forestry and fire frequencies and I also contract out for the forestry for man up firewatch so I would know about it.

Population – Traffic thru put - Farmers are a tad careful with fires - I see lots of Albertans that are just plain ignorant - In both meanings of the term Ignorant.

But to condemn them all - Well BS.

And how many were attributed to cigarettes? I presume you have some links for the 80 fires so far this year?

I have the forestry fire sites that show all fires,I also have all the radios and frequencies for fire as I am a certified wildfire fighter.
From Calgary south,no fires this year,I would have known as I was sitting at the forestry station in the gap in kananaskis country this year on standby,I would have been the first guy along with our small crew on the fire.

Standby fireline crew.

I can also remember well how long Alberta was a "Have Not" and on the receiving end of those transfer payments. Get over yourselves already with this "easterner" crud. You need someone to dislike; better look further than Ontario for your villification of all things eastern.
pride in bub.

Your a liar, AB has NEVER accepted transfer payments!!!
Your only BSing on this Thread to try to make easterners look good, your post has no credability because you lie!!!

Can't start again what's never died.

But it is actually possible for one to lift themselves up without putting others down. Really isn't that difficult.

Sounds like you have an exciting life that you enjoy,,,good for you !!!

I predict your "let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark" might be your own fate some day if you don't get over this childish resentment and start treating people with friendliness instead of disdain for all who would come for work. You epitomize everything bad about "regionalistic pride". Today it's your turn to gloat, but tomorrow, who knows.
.
AB does not need any lectures from some loser easterner who can't pay his bills and constantly needs money from Albertans!! This has to change!!

I hope you don't mind the dark in the winter time,,,,bub!!!

I see that you got up on the wrong side of the bed again. I told you before, move the bed away from the wall, not a good side to get up on.

It's interesting to see how some believe there is something magical about the people of Alberta that makes it better than elsewhere.

It's the resources, not the people. Without the resources, Alberta would be nothing special.

Continue believing what you will, but it's purely geology and people moving there from elsewhere that makes Alberta what it is.

Geology shapes the land and those that people it. Good point, and very true.
I think of harsh climates and the fortitude of those that tackle them.

Ummm, do you speak with any qualifications??? Any basis for your skewed observation?? Or are you just flapping your jaws for some exercise ???

Have you thought about;
-the fact that AB resources have only been making money recently, and that there were many years where AB made little to no money from resources???
- the fact that AB has always elected a centrist party and has never accepted transfer payments, whereas Ont elects Libs and is now a loser province with no end in site??
-the fact that AB, for instance has been a for runner in contributing to Can. Federation ie AB women brought votes for women, created new political party,,, etc Ont has always stayed with the status quot and has only voted Lib & Cons, but has no vision on how to improve federation !!!

-etc etc!!

Very true, like the Arctic,no crybabys up there but old school Alberta is the same way,you wont find many easterners working on the rigs because it's mostly old rig pigs born and bred in Alberta there.
There's lots of people like me in my field that started their own company because we still keep our contacts from the patch and help each other out for work. You wont find many old school Albertans at fort mac and the ones that are work at cnrl as management.

I dont care who comes here for work and I have been a minority in my own province for many years at jobsites,if you can do the job then fine,i'll help you out any way I can but if your a slacker or pisstank or druggie I will run you off.
There's lots of cut throat back stabbing in fort mac,I witnessed it all the time working for Canadian Dewatering at suncor, girls from newfoundland alledging sexual assault to get a guys job,I saw that twice in one week and the guy didnt get a chance to defend himself, his badge was red flagged instantly and the funny thing was this gal told me she was going to have his job the day before.
Guys up there will cut your throat for a buck an hour to get their foot in the door.
One guy on shore watch got a hummer from the gal he was with at work that day,he filmed it on his iphone and put it on facebook,he got fired that day and hired as a foreman at suncor the next!

Not for me,I work with the brothers,My best friend and next best friend and me most of the time.
Were all the same age and have preffered contractor status with many companies that do stuff no one else does like build roads on the tops of mountains.

Pardon me you alberta knobs,if alberta is so great, why does it have a 3.4 Billion dollar deficet ? If it wasn't for the the dreaded easrerners, nothing would get done.

Also the only province with no PST AND the one with the most infrastructure expansion.

I believe it was Abraham Lincoln who made that exact same observation! How wise you are!
