Hey, Nick, how the hell are ya? Long time no see. Where ya been hidin', man?

Been working my ass off. Gonna be a big year in the oil-patch and everyone is short-handed so it has been about 80-100 hours a week since break-up finished. I finally got a few days off and thought i'd check in.

Northern Ontario,
In the last 25 years, I had let myself go from 190lbs to 225lbs...I was starting to get sore knees which I attributed to advancing age, even though I walk at least 5 miles every day....the only thing that has kept me from going any higher.
What decided me to loose weight, was remembering this fella in the mill who was complaining about sore knees and my answer to him was "That's what happens when you put 1/2 ton shocks on a 3 ton truck".

Remembering that was my incentive.....one month ago....
This morning, I weighed myself at 204.5......14lbs to go and my sore knees are gone and I feel much lighter.
I might have to go lower than 190 because I seem to have shrunk from 6'2" to 6'00:lol:

I blame that evil little monkey on the Subway commercials....
Agreed. From the deepest depths of hell that little monkey came, ;)

Officially, I've dumped 70 pounds since New Years - five more since my last weigh-in mid-July - but I know it was more than that 'cuz I outgrew the pants I wore at my recorded heavy weight.
Awesome! Good for you!

I agreed with all you said. Our portions at restaurants in America are huge. When I do go out to eat and get a regular meal my leftovers are worth two meals. I am talking the portion you eat at the restaurant and two leftover meals after. But many Yanks whoof it down in one sitting. It's insane!
The portion sizes are huge here too! I usually only get a third of the way through one before I realize why gluttony is one the seven deadly sins.

I love comments like that. It's the restaurant's fault that people are fat. It's not the fact that they get numerous items and then supersize it. Oh, but they got a Diet Coke! Like that makes a freaking difference. Maybe if they ordered less food then maybe they would be more healthy. And there are studies that show aspartame is a lot worse for people than sugared pop, so why would the restaurant go to diet pop only? Also, not everyone can even drink beverages with aspartame in it, so making that the only beverage available makes no sense at all.

Personally, I am getting sick and tired of everyone bitching and moaning about their problems, but don't do anything about it. I was getting quite chunky, and I now eat healthier and work out at the gym. I've lost 20lbs, and I feel a lot better. Do I blame the fast food industry for my weight? Heck no. I am not a mindless drone that must eat there, so there is no reason other obese people can't do the same. Stop blaming others and put the onus on yourself!
People make choices, if they made responsible choices it would go a long way to solving a lot of their problems.

It's a war. A war for your mind and dollar and the body is the battlefield.

Some foods are designed to not satiate others are marketed to make you think you are doing the right thing.

I watched TV a couple weeks ago (frightening experience staring Satan in the eye) and the context of a commercial caught my ear. It was for mayonnaise and they went on about how it was a healthy product made from "prairie canola and 100 % Canadian free-range eggs".

Canola oil is garbage for the body and when was the last time you've seen a herd of eggs grazing in a pasture?

When this came out my jaw dropped...

It was almost if they were mocking. Two pieces of fried chicken with bacon and cheese and some sauce. Yikes!

What most of you are missing, is that were talking about "White Castle" hamburgers, the golden icon of all burgers. Buy sack them by the dozen. The guy is right, they owe him a larger seat after all the burgers he bought. Sorry short people burgers cannot help you grow. :)

"I blame the Fast food restaurants for the out break of obesity...not people...there is plenty they could do..use 100% whole wheat bread...BAKED fries only....low calorie condiments, Ketchup, mayo, etc....Sugar free soda ONLY... I guarantee people would weigh less and be happier.... "

More than likely they would just not go to said restaurants. People are free to get fat. Just like people are free to smoke. They are also free to not wear sunscreen. All are bad for you but we leave it up to personal choice.

No amount of money in the world could tempt me to try the double down.

Of course they can't. Which is why our discrimination case is winnable.

I'm telling you, 2011 is going to be my year! ;)

I just want to clarify that what you quoted was a quote I copied from the other site's comment page.;)

That's right. That's what they tell us.

Their rights.

Oversize Man Sues White Castle Over Seats

NANUET, N.Y. - A 290-pound New York man is steaming mad at the White Castle fast-food chain, which he claims repeatedly broke promises to make the booths in his local eatery bigger.
Martin Kessman, 64, filed a lawsuit against the fast-food giant last week in Manhattan federal court, claiming that the uncomfortable booths violate the civil rights of fat people.
Kessman's lawsuit came more than two years after he complained to White Castle about the size of the booths at the Nanuet, N.Y., eatery and reportedly received a pledge that renovations would be carried out to cater for larger customers.

Sorry, but when you're too g'damn fat to fit in the regular seating arrangements at a fast food restaurant, normally someone would take that as a hint to do something about their health & weight.... not sue the business so you can get more money to stuff your fat wad.

I would have just banned him from my establishment due to health liability concerns and then the problem is solved.

If he wins I'm totally gonna go start suing for the fact that my feet don't touch the floor in any chair, in any restaurant, anywhere. If he thinks his life is uncomfortable, due to an attribute he actually has some control over, imagine what I could get for something that is totally outside of my control. Sweet.

Agreed.... I want to start suing every single place I've ever been to in my life where I cracked my head off of objects due to being so tall.

It's a friggin disability...... sure it's a disability some women find attractive, being such a tall and handsome stud that I am, but it's still a disability.

Every last human being has some control over their weight, and medical options available for help if they don't. Can everyone be small? No. But everyone has some control over it, or hand in it.

Indeed.... stop going to fast food restaurants is one step towards controlling it.

Hell, if you are at the point where you can't stand it anymore that you can't comfortably sit in the seats at a fast food restaurant and sue.... you're obviously going there too much.

Normally if something bugs you about a specific restaurant, you don't go back and go to some other restaurant.... he obviously is a regular customer here and I'd also guess that's directly related to his large ass having problems fitting into a regular seat/booth.

Hey!

That's a brilliant idea..... if you can't fit in a booth.... eat at a friggin table while sitting in a chair.

I'm 5'3"....and a 1/2. Which sometimes, when needing that extra little bit of self-esteem boost, I will fudge up to 5'4" ;).....

Nothing wrong with that, I'm technically something like 6'5 1/2"... so I just round it up to an even 6'6"

It's not like it makes any real difference.... telling people that I was 6'5 1/2" tall reminded me of when I was a little kid..... "I'm 9 and a half years old"

Now a days I just say "I'm 31"

When this came out my jaw dropped...

It was almost if they were mocking. Two pieces of fried chicken with bacon and cheese and some sauce. Yikes!

I never tried it while I was in Canada, but they did introduce it here in Australia at KFC for a couple of weeks... I figured I would try it.

Though the odd thing was that they never called it the "Double Down" in Australia.... they called it "the Double"

You'd think they would have just called it the "Double Down Under" and be done with it.

Anyways, it was.... interesting.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

..... one thing I do miss from North America are Wendy's Baconators..... man those were so brutal on the guts and left shoulder, but damn tasty.

And no... I'm not going to pamper you people with the fancy glorified picture of a commercial Baconator.... but instead, here's what they reall looked like:

Mmmmmm...... it's as healthy as it looks.

But what about his rights! (see sarcasm)

I would have just banned him from my establishment due to health liability concerns and then the problem is solved.

Then he might actually have a case.
