our ability, as parents and teachers, to teach these kids to have respect for others and property has been taken away from us by bleeding heart groups and institutions and termed child abuse. So now the govs spend millions of our hard earned trying to figer out what the hell is wrong with todays youth and they have also allowed big pharma to come up with diseases that dont exist and allow doctors to prescribe mind altering substances for these imaginary diseases, when a couple of swift kicks to the arse at an early age would've sufficed.I hate teenagers and their marijuana

you use the term "beat" like its a bad thing...........:lol:Yup. Beat em till they are good. Don't bother thinking about better ways.
Yes, Anna, there are people who abuse corporal punishment, that is why it has been outlawed. But spanking has its place in any disciplinary regime but should only be administered once tempers have subsided and a logical explanation administered. Used wisely and sparingly, it will not lead to angry lashing out at a child in frustration, like my ex used to do.Yup. Beat em till they are good. Don't bother thinking about better ways.

I have no doubt that it is the better way to raise a child. In a perfect world, I would agree with it. But children are not dogs and most parents never grew up themselves. Many become parents by accident or should not be reproducing in the first place. It is too bad that there is formal training required. But then people would scream "Nanny State". This is far too complicated an issue to say that one solution would solve all problems. With ADS and ADD and other psychological problems becoming prevalent because of various environmental problems, sometimes we need to look at a gamut of solutions, too numerous to look at here.Study after study has shown what works the best: Reinforcement and Punishment in Psychology 101 at AllPsych Online
Yeah. I wouldn't hit either of my dogs either.I have no doubt that it is the better way to raise a child. In a perfect world, I would agree with it. But children are not dogs and most parents never grew up themselves.
Yup. It's too tough a issue, best just to stick with beating them. Many become parents by accident or should not be reproducing in the first place. Funny. Our youngest is by far the most outspoken, rebellious, practical joker of the two and she's the only one that ever got a smack. Les thwacked her padded (she was about 2 and wearing a diaper) with the back of his hand to get her attention. It wasn't even hard enough to make her fall. The rest of the time we used positive reinforcement and negative punishment. IOW, reward for good behavior and retraction of privilege for bad and always explained stuff.
Better question, would marijuana be as popular if it was legal? The forbidden fruit isn't forbidden anymore. Countries that have legalized it are backing off now, is there something about it we do not know?
No, smoking causes cancer, marijuana is no exception.
No question about it, but who is paying for their hospitalization, we are.
Probably a small fortune....I have had many businesses and have even run a multi million dollar company, but that is not the point.
My point is that they all progressed to harder drugs when the high was no longer good enough. One of my brothers ended up in jail because he needed money to feed his cocaine habit.
To this day I don't know what it feels like to be high but I figure I saved a lot of money by not going down that road.
I once sat in a room with 3 friends and 3 of my brothers. They were passing one around and I declined. I remember perfectly my brother saying "just try it, you'll like it".
I replied "that's exactly what I'm afraid of"
Two of my 3 brothers and 1 of my 3 friends ended up becoming addicts. All of them were poor well into their 30's and I've never worried about money in my life. I had more new cars then all of them combined.
Coincidence?
Probably a small fortune....
From my perspective, the pursuit of a buck can look just as addictive as chasing a high.
