Sigh

No, they aren't. I keep telling you idiots this, but you obviously are not fast learners.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

Is the USA number one? No.

Is the USA in the Top Ten? No.

Is the USA in the Top Fifty? No.

Is the USA in the Top One Hundred? No.

Actually, they are number 108.

So just STFU.
Middle of the pack.

But you know we're throwing tennis balls at a tank, Colpy. Maybe we should grab a coupla rackets and put 'em to better use.

And still vastly richer, more powerful, and more influential than y'all. Get used to sucking hind t*t. Ain't gonna change.

The trend is actually the other way. Violent crime in all categories is down 50% from its peak in the early 90s. But don't let that get in the way of your narrative now, hear?

You ain't stupid, Corduroy, so I don't know why you're playing this.

For the rest of y'all gun-banners, you sound like idiots going after one make and model of rifle.

Here's the cold fact: 95+% of the homicides by firearm committed in the U.S. are committed with handguns. Comparable percentage of suicides (it's actually kinda tough to shoot yourself with a long gun).

If you had any intelligence at all (I know, crazy, but just work with me for a second), you'd go after handguns (which are already the most heavily regulated firearms, so yay, you. Well done on all those gun controls that completely failed to stop handgun homicides).

But you don't. There's a mass shooting and y'all start jumping up and down and shrieking.

Fear and ignorance ain't the best basis of policy decisions.

Or maybe it ain't only fear and ignorance. Maybe y'all just don't care much about the largely black and brown victims of handgun violence. You're clearly far more upset about 49 gays, or 26 cute little white kids and their teachers, than you are over the 10,000+, again largely black and brown, who were or will be killed in the same year as those shootings.

Exactly correct.

https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/u...able_8_murder_victims_by_weapon_2010-2014.xls

In 2014, there were 8124 firearms related homicides in the USA.

248 were done with rifles of all types.

They do not differentiate between military style and your basic .22 rimfire or Grandpa's .30-30. My bet is that military style rifles account for a minor fraction of those 248 killings.

So, in 2014 all rifles account for 3% of firearms homicides, military rifles make up only some of those.

In case you think that is an anomaly;

In 2014, there were 8124 gun murders, of which 248 (3.0%) were done with rifles

in 2013, there were 8454 gun murders, of which 285 (3.3%) were done with rifles

in 2012, there were 8897 gun murders, of which 298 (3.3%) were done with rifles

in 2011, there were 8653 gun murders, of which 332 (3.8%) were done with rifles

in 2010, there were 8874 gun murders, of which 367 (4.1%) were done with rifles

Please note the number of gun murders is generally falling, as is the percentage done with rifles, as has the overall murder rate.

This while the USA loosens gun laws....

The numbers do not lie.

AMELIA, Ohio -- Authorities say the owner of an Ohio gun shop teaching a concealed carry class was fatally shot in the neck by a student who accidently fired a weapon.
The (Cincinnati) Enquirer reports 64-year-old James Baker was shot Saturday while students practiced weapon malfunction drills. The Clermont County Sheriff's Office says about 10 people were taking the class at the time at KayJay Gun Shop in Monroe Township, about 25 miles southeast of Cincinnati.
Baker died at the scene. The student who fired the weapon hasn't been identified.
According to the gun shop's website, the concealed carry class included basic pistol safety instruction, shooting range sessions and a review of Ohio's gun laws.
The Clermont County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting.

I can't understand why you're playing the "hate AR-15s" game when you know damn well the problem (if problem it be) is handguns.

Ah, that's the problem with this thread and why I generally avoid it. It's myopic. I'm not playing the "hate AR-15s" game. I don't think the Onion is either. It's really about the priorities of the gun's defenders or the defenders of gun rights in general. How much of this thread or other threads about gun control is people discussing the minutia of some random gun, or dick-waving about their knowledge of bullets or some ****, or the definition of "assault rifle"?

Clearly, this was created without knowledge of active shooter training that is being taught in Canada's workplace and schools.

And the intended audience for this poster are anti-gun leftards that have not received the same training.

An improbable scenario to prove an imaginary point.............

If I repeat the poster back to you, it says:

right wing ammosexuals are idiots and the 2nd amendment is assinine, because...

...some armed law abiding citizen that chooses to take more risks than necessary might get shot.

The poster and probably the author who wrote that idiotic "Meme?" are undoubtedly leftoids who never had any training in firearms...

I was a member of a handgun shooting club for over 40 years and for most of that time my liability insurance was never more than five dollars a year which included accidents not only at the club but also while hunting.
I see from the link that I'm posting that it has recently gone up to $9.95 probably because you are now insured for 5 million instead of 3.
Insurance - National Firearms Association

I suspect that those low rates are because they rarely, if at all, have to pay out.......

I absolutely encourage people who oppose guns or are uncomfortable with guns not to own them. If you are not trained, practiced, and comfortable with the idea of using deadly force to protect yourself, you are probably in MORE danger with a gun than without. I strongly recommend that such people call the police if they are in danger, and I genuinely hope the police are able to arrive in time to save them.

I agree 100%. I consider their expressed views as a confession that they can not be trusted with an inanimate object that gives them the power to violate their own moral/legal values.

It's amazing this thread has reached 6600 posts. The entire subject can be dealt with in its entirety in one sentence.
