Does Justin have what it takes to make his old man proud?

Justin Trudeau got elected in the Montreal riding of Papineau because he wants to continue his late fathers legacy.

Pierre Elliott Trudeau was one tough guy who made the decisions that no one wanted to make.

He had communistic beliefs and spent time in China when it was more communist.

Cuban President Fidel Castro a communist leader came to his funeral.

During the Trudeau era you either liked him or hated him.

Pierre Elliott Trudeau had the ability to pull the country together.

Pierre was a lawyer and Justin was a teacher who taught children.

Justin has a long way to go to fill his late fathers shoes and become Prime Minister.

That’s if Harper doesn’t sell Canada to the Americans for some beads and blankets.

I'm not sure what the old man had that could make him proud of himself- running up several hundred billion in debt isn't something most of us would be proud about.

Wasn't there something about the `Greatest Canadian (something to that effect) on the History Channel?

Seems to me what I keep seeing is Pierre Elliot Trudeau and Terry Fox.

As a politician you do what you have, damned or not.

Justin Trudeau is a gift this country never thought it would have.

Just wait.

In my mind there is nothing to compare between Terry Fox and P.E.T. - the one was a humble person, who gave everything he had including his life to try to stop the hurting- the other was self centred, self serving and arrogant and put a huge financial burden on the common man.

JLM,

Good Day to you.

PET DID NOT WANT to get into politics.

But he did and it is done.

Now Justin is the next one.

Harpo is just a closet homophobe and evangelist.

Do we need that kind of a pm?

In my opinion.......NO!

Ya got that right!

JLM,

If Trudeau was so bad, how come he was the longest running PM ever? He was human, had faults, but he also did a lot of good. He put Canada on the map and garnered respect from other world leaders. Sure he did some stuff that ticked me off, but he also did what he thought was right Labeling him communist is just the sour grapes of a conservative, and conservatives are a dying breed.

Not so fast Cliff- I never said or thought he was a communist, that was mentioned in the original post. Was he longer than MacKenzie King? Anyway Cliff you and I will have to differ when it comes to Trudeau, but that's what makes life interesting.

He may have helped break the chains that made marriage an anchor. He may have helped make it safe for couples to be intimate without risking jail time ... but his changed rules also took away the incentive to work things out. Now, Lawyers (like Trudeau) will forever get rich in divorce courts.

He lessened British influence on Canada because it wasn't fair to Francophones. Now those very same people whine because American TV and music fills the void in Anglo culture left by Brit banishment. Where has that "proud to be Canadian" gone?

As far as Justin filling his dad's shoes ... screw that. Justin has to season a bit. Let him be his own man. All they share is a name. The legacy belongs to someone else.

Politically, I am an anarchist. I have no use for politics. Justin? I am interested to see if he is a human being or an automaton controlled by Liberal party hacks. I want to see if he can stand on his own two feet and be his own man. That is what I'm interested in, Justin the person.

That isn't enough. Death creates saints. Liberal fantasies are bigger than that. Justin is only human ... just like his father.

Good day LW, even with greater potential then his Dad, not putting Pier down but Dad is probably looking down smiling at Justin's deep desire to follow his Dad's foot steps. Huge genuine potential for Justin to be in in todays political landscape, the divine inspiration Pier was to millions even though he faced oposition....

Really.. Justin is just like his father? You can qualify that FACT ?

I happen to be the farthest thing from my father who was an alcoholic. I do not drink and have ideas totally different from his views. This ranges from bringing up my kids to social values in life. I own my own house where as my father never did..

Now tell me JUDGE AND JURY, can you be 100% sure Justin is like his Father or is that just FICTIONAL Opinion ?

IF The liberals and NDP were to form a coalition government. They would rule till the next election...Flaherty would get elected with a majority ,till the next election..At that time Trudeau will be ready to rule for the next 10 years! ...IF he has what it takes...I believe he will, as long as he has the backing of the people, and can prove he can handle the spot light!!!...Not an easy task to accomplish ..Hard to convincingly face the cold staring eye of the Media's lense..Getting harder to fool the people watching!.Have to be able to do, what you say you will do!.It's as simple as that!!..(lol)....This coalition needs to happen for Canadians and it's "Democratic"parlimentary system ..!
Democracy deserves it!!..IF there is truly is any hope for our Democracy in the future..This has to happen...Right now!!!.....
At this point in time ...Democracy is an illusion!!...
It's DemoCrazy!!....................................................

You have a point there NOT ALL sons are like their father BUT I think there is also some validity to the old saying "the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree".

But the acorn is not 100% the same.. It has qualities from both parents that make it much different hence why the Acorn never looks 100% like the original TREE...

Yeah ... two arms, two legs, head, male parts ... human ... just like his father. Now, if you want to add context to what was said, don't be condemning my words for your interpretation. Maybe you're not so much different after all....

He's a Trudeau.... Not a God. You're painting superhuman qualities on a green politician with his own ideas - some of which may not be things the way you'd think. Let the man grow into his own skin ... NOT his dad's.

By agreeing to scratch you are saying what I replied too.. I was not condemning your words for my interpretation. Making it even worse is saying "That isn't enough. Death creates saints. Liberal fantasies are bigger than that. Justin is only human" but I did not want to linger on that !!

And again, you make a judgement call without knowing me, hence you are being judge and jury again " Maybe you're not so much different after all ".. So I guess you know me personally ?:?:
