Does Justin have what it takes to make his old man proud?

That's not a valid reason, you could cite that for anything like speaking Chinese or converting to Islam religion. Metric is just a "measuring stick", we can still use Imperial for ladling out rape seed to ship to Jerusalem

90% of the world is Chinese and/or Moslem? Man, I guess I don't get out enough....

Didn't mean 90% exactly literally.

Luckily Justin has been coached forever while his father was alive and his mother is also a great teacher and backer of him...

Possibly not.

Assuming the coup d'etat takes place and democratic governance is suspended in Canada.

The question becomes what would Pierre have done and what will Justin do?

The assumption can and has been made by several journalists that Pierre would never have participated in the alliance. Pierre had no use for separatists and is on record numerous times expressing his views on them. He always refused to have any truck with them. Never would have considered sharing power with them.

As to Justin, I suppose we will have to wait and see.

That is about the most idiotic thing I have eaver read.......

We'll leave out the part about PET being a "great man"........a matter of opinion, lets say......but "it's in the blood"?......my, you must have loved hereditary, all-powerful monarchy......try and drag yourself out of the 17th century........a "little teamwork"??? with those who want to destroy the country? Yeah,...... good,..... fine. Great idea. (sarcasm alert) "Gotta back the leader"? My, Hitler and Stalin would have loved you!

Unbelieveable!

LeBlanc has already proven he is a political *****, with his appearance to throw support to Dion as PM.

What would Papa PET do?

Forment a revolt......either by mouthing off at the BQ in such an offensive way that they deserted the fold, or that the Liberals do their best to shut him up, dividing the party.....or he might sit as an independent, and take a number of responsible, Federalist Liberals and NDP members with him.....perhaps enough to scuttle Dion's coalition majority......and hold a balance of power between Conservative gov't and seditious opposition.......thus promoting their own (independent)agenda.

The last may still be an option for opposition MPs with a conscience.........the question is: is there a handful of patriotic Canadians among the ranks of the NDP and Liberal MPS?????????

I doubt it.

Damn I miss the National Post. What a great newspaper!

So ... what part of democracy in action don't you like? It's about time Harper realized he's not all that and a bag of chips too. Opposition means ... they oppose. Part of that means bringing down the house if compromise can't be reached.

With all due respect to you Colpy.

In my opinion somewhere along the line PET did something that p-oed you and it is still part of your sub-conscience and you cannot let it go.
PET had hard decisions to make and you may not have liked them and that is your prerogative.

But those times are long past and now we all must be looking to the future with a positive attitude, no matter how tough it may get.

Justin to be sure is not his father but he is a very intelligent man and well aware of how our system works. Belittling him serves no purpose for he will do what he will do.
His upbringing brought him to where he is today.

An open mind never hurt anyone and has helped many.

Raking a man over the coals simply because his name is Trudeau makes no sense from my point of view.

For almost two and one half years we have had pathetic government...how could he be anything but better?

Just an observation.

Over and over and over and over and over again......

What part of democracy in action don't I like?

I don't like the stupidity of those that would include the Separatists in government. I am so outraged by that action that I have to turn away from this forum and the news for fear of my health....I'm gonna blow a gasket....

All I can say is that if Canada is peopled by such a group of simpletons that will accept this......then we no longer deserve to be a nation.

Outside of the separatists, who care nothing for the nation......who care LESS than nothing for the nation.......who seek to destroy us.....apart from them Harper has a clear majority of support among Federalist Canadians there is no doubt who has the trust of the people.

Now the only question is.....can a handful of decent Canadians be found on the Lib/NDP benches....to abandon their parties, sit as independents, and scuttle this unholy deal with the anti-Canadians?

that is simply incoherent. Nothing to do with the debate.

a little diificult to argue with the simple truth, isn't it?

Easier to misdirect....

For the record, I don't like backroom deals either. I prefer ... what was the word Harper used ... oh yeah ... transparency. Your guy wasn't so great on that either was he? "Our economy is sound (but let's have an election now while I still have a chance)"

No ... hopping in bed with the separatists isn't the best of deals. It could be a train wreck ... because I believe the Bloc is going to demand concessions for Quebec at every turn. That's my own bias though. Who knows? They may just surprise us all and make it work.

I know you'll never admit to it....

What part of democracy don't you like? The part where somebody can actually disagree with your hero ... and do something about his arrogance if he won't play well with the other kids.

A bully got his ass kicked. Deal with it....

Harper is not, and never has been, my choice for leader of the CPC. Hardly my hero.

Your hero, Jack Layton, is a moron that is kissing the arse of the BQ to the extreme detriment of the nation.

It is ethically, although not legally, sedition.

Deal with it.

rational post = rational response.

The BQ will demand concessions, it is in their nature. My fear, my belief, is that the coalition will bend to their desires to hold power.......

Not good.

Your bias is the same bias held by practically every Canadian outside of Quebec.

It is a good bias.

I know.... Colpy right. Ask him. He'll tell everyone.... In case you can't read ... and I suspect that to be more fact than you're bright enough to admit ... the pip says "free thinker". Paint your hero worship thing all you want ... but yours is defined. Mine isn't ... and I'll thank you to leave the labelmaker at home.
