*sigh*..nice page

Switzerland has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the world, but little gun-related street crime - so some opponents of gun control hail it as a place where firearms play a positive role in society. However, Swiss gun culture is unique

sensible rules
Unique because during world war II it remained neutral despite being surrounded by enemies. I lLIKE Canada's sensible rules. At least it has cut down on the massacres by gunshot in this country. True those who are intent on doing harm to another human have to resort mostly to knives but at least many stabbings are non-fatal. Catering to bullies and despots is so passe.

Those who want a more gun toting society need only move to a country that has the laws they prefer!!

Imagine how bad it would be if on top of those illegal guns we had 4 or 5 times more legal hand guns!! No country is going to to eliminate smuggling or stealing guns but at least Canada has made it a bit more difficult for teenagers and babes to shoot one another. Hoodlums exist in all countries, this does not mean a country cannot try to limit the damage as much as possible.

Just because you don't feel you are capable of handling and storing guns securely and safely doesn't mean everyone else is as dim as you.

Great reply. Insult the poster instead of actually posting something intelligent. Isn't it interesting that homes with guns in them, safely stored or not, are five times more likely to have a spouse murdered?

Just to keep biases down, I will report this with fakenews as a citation
:)

"Gun deaths took no holiday on Independence Day in Chicago.

The Rev. Michael Pfleger, the activist pastor of Chicago's Faith Community of St. Sabina, said on Facebook, "We are now told 14 people KILLED AND 88 WOUNDED IN CHICAGO THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND .....AND PEOPLE ASK WHY I AM FLYING THE AMERICAN FLAG UPSIDE DOWN ..
We are safer in Iraq..."

...Over the 2016 holiday weekend, four people were killed and 46 were injured in 42 shootings and a stabbing, according to police. Seven were killed and 40 wounded over the 2015 July Fourth weekend..."

...The bloodshed came days after the police department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced a new task force aimed at decreasing the spread of illegal guns throughout the Windy City."
In Chicago, shooting deaths take no holiday - CNN.com

Oh, so the problem is ILLEGAL GUNS!!!
Well well well, now that's a GUN FREE ZONE.

What would happen if all gun control was removed and everyone could have a gun.?? Just go to walmarts and buy one.........for whatever reason...........or no reason at all?? ya know create an equal playing field..

If gun laws are useless........what is the alternative??

25 YEARS MURDER-FREE IN 'GUN TOWN USA'
Crime rate plummeted after law required firearms for residents
25 years murder-free in ‘Gun Town USA’

Then-councilman J.O. Stephenson said after the ordinance was passed, everyone "went crazy."

"People all over the country said there would be shootings in the street and violence in homes," he said. "Of course, that wasn't the case."

In fact, according to Stephenson, it caused the crime rate in the city to plunge.

Kennesaw Historical Society president Robert Jones said following the law's passage, the crime rate dropped 89 percent in the city, compared to the modest 10 percent drop statewide.

"It did drop after it was passed," he said. "After it initially dropped, it has stayed at the same low level for the past 16 years.

"You can't argue with the fact that Kennesaw has the lowest crime rate of any city our size in the country," said Church, who owns a denture-making company in Kennesaw.

According to the Kennesaw Police Department, the city's most recent crime statistics show 243 property crimes per 100,000 residents in 1998, or .243 per 1,000.

The city's crime rate continues to be far below other metro Atlanta city's with similar populations, like Decatur. In 1998, Decatur recorded 4,049 property crimes per 100,000 residents."

"It was done in response to a law passed by Morton Grove, Ill., outlawing gun ownership within the city limits," he said. "Several council members were upset Morton Grove had gotten a lot of attention with their ordinance so they decided to top them.

I think the stats speak for themselves

Funny how there were no deaths in the years before guns.
;)

Here is a pre gun time death toll with numbers like 80 MILLION on it:

Wanna have a scary laugh? read this:

"British Knife Laws: Hoplophobia Defined

Sometimes it’s good to just take a look around and realize how good you’ve got it. A quick look at U.K. knife laws illustrates this point, because most of us barbarian Yanks simply won’t believe the emasculated nanny-state restrictions that our British brethren have to live with. The following (incomplete) list of rules and regulations, taken straight from the www.uk.gov website, will make your head spin. Find a chair, take a deep breath, and make the jump for absolute insanity . . .

As a lawyer and civil libertarian, I am particularly chilled by Big Brother’s helpful comment “A court will decide if you’ve got a good reason to carry a knife if you’re charged with carrying it illegally.” That surely provides a lot of guidance.

And WTF does Big Brother have against the Japanese, other than Oceania’s long-running squabble with Eurasia? The craziness starts in 3…2…1…go:"

Beyond the blade: the truth about knife crime in Britain
Teenage knife crime is a tabloid obsession, blamed on feral youth running riot in our cities. But the reality is much more complex – and we cannot save lives if we do not understand it

Geez Where did you get the idea that I don't own guns or that I don't know how to use or store them safely?

Oh and it doesn't take a genius to own a gun or know how to store it properly. Judging a person's mental capacity without anything other than what one declares as is reasonably sensible is the dimwit.

It's people with guns that do the killing.

Oooooooooooooh
hmm...quite true....but:-

The rational part of a teen's brain isn't fully developed and won't be until age 25 or so. In fact, recent research has found that adult and teen brains work differently. Adults think with the prefrontal cortex, the brain's rational part.

Now, remember the part that is undeveloped is the part that governs risky and dangerous behavior. This means that those persons are much less likely to foresee the results of their risky behavior and without certain laws and protections from their own actions are a danger to themselves and others. So try wrapping your more or less developed adult? brain around why laws for the protections of all is necessary,

Owns guns but keeps bitching against other people that own guns.......hmmmm

Make sense????????
I get so tired of repeating ad-nauseum that I am NOT about taking legally obtained and registered guns from those who need them or who want them for hunting or skeet shooting, target shooting or any legal use, I just do not want to live in a society where I do not feel safe from a young teen or several of them when walking down the street or a neighbor who thinks it is a great joke to shoot at children with their dog, because he had a few drinks.

Many people in this area own guns BUT they follow the law and do not play with them to antagonize or show off.

Now you tell me why you want to allow such behavior in this country by relaxing our gun laws!!

Criminals prey on the vulnerable
the thing is to not be vulnerable.

The police state runs on fear and division...and is not legally obligated to show up to protect you.
But then the best way to rob a bank is to own one.

They need you to be distracted while they steal ALL the money out of the system...with the resulting loss and casualties THAT will bring.

So guns, and the gun debate, are a great distraction to keep the peeps busy till the crap really hits the fan.
Then the guns and the gunless will really have a divide to deal with.
