Okanagan? Nowhere close. Water temp in the middle of the lake reported yesterday at +7C. We had a week here where the mercury hovered around minus 10, coldest was minus 19 one morning. The last week it climbed to +5 - +10 during the day.

So which part of B.C. do you live in and for how long? I searched your "general specs" for that information, but found it pretty sparse!

a simple reverse google image search of any member's avatar pretty much anywhere on the internet (assuming they like to use the same one elsewhere) ought to help lead you toward your answer if you have time to kill.

awww, lets face it - its not about weather or climate. Its all about $$$$ cha ching, cha ching and we are all going to pay for it. Will it matter? Not one iota! Some people will (and are) getting extremely rich and the rest of us will simply get poorer. Another way of "distributing the wealth". End of debate!

wealth distribution! Damn, who's running that world government wealth distribution show? It's just sooooooo pervasive! Uhhh... yours is a slight wrinkle as the distribution is usually portrayed as one towards developing nations... you seem to be singling out, as you say, "some people". Who are your "some people" so controlling the distribution of wealth... to themselves?

I'm not sure that you can recognize winter weather... or summer melting ice conditions.

It's not winter yet.

And all the money in the world right down to the last piggy bank ain't going to change that.

The ice extent this coming spring should be spectacular. It may be possible to snowmobile to Europe some day soon.

Speaking of investments, snow removal equipment. Anti freezes, shovels, thermal underware, anything to do with heat. One season tires.

Well if you really want to know....the Al Gore's and Suzuki's of the world and their ilk. I'm sure YOU can come up with additional ones with a little bit of "google" - those two are the more obvious ones.

Oh, and didn't Obama say that we needed to "distribute" the wealth and that the rich should pay more? Some how tho', I doubt if he means him and his leftie supporters in Hollywood. I'm sure, (not unlike Obamacare) there'll be "exceptions" for him and his buddies. They'll be able to "exempt" themselves by "buying" credits (which they'll likely redeem 'cuz they'll have invested in it, and not have to change their lifestyles. The average "Joe" will, however have to dramatically change their lifestyle because they won't be able to afford (or invest) in anything. They'll be too busy putting food on the table and a roof over their heads!!

Call me crazy, but that's the way I see it and it is, afterall, JMHO which I believe we are entitled (so far) to have!!

well sh!t.
We can control the ice to a certain degree. currents and icebreakers would hasten natural breakups. just making tracks on top of the ice is enough to drive frost down and that would thicken the ice. A few key roads might be all that is needed to halt melting.

Walter, at some point you just might get it... you just might realize that Antartcic sea-ice extent naturally, year-to-year, melts almost to its entirety! You keep harping on that Antarctic sea-ice extent thingee... it exemplifies your vast understanding! Here Walter, have a look at typical seasonal 'freeze-melt' Antarctic sea-ice extent:

poor taxi... another drive-by that blew up on ya... blew up on ya, real good!

The sea ice probably represents 1/1millionth part of the ice in Antarctica.:)

of course! That's why I'm forever pointing out the idiocy of those that continue to beat the drum over Antarctic sea ice extent... notwithstanding, after stating it numerous times and showing the same/like melt vs. freeze seasonal change graphic, they still insist upon barking over Antarctic sea-ice extent. That's why I've put significant emphasis on the loss of Antarctic ice-sheet mass... like this post:
NASA's Grace satellite's data show that both Antarctica and Greenland ice sheets are losing ice mass; since 2003:
- Antarctica losing ice mass @ ~ 147 billion tons of ice per year
- Greenland losing ice mass @ ~ 258 billion tons of ice per year
