the NHL hasn't been a goon league for a long time, goons can't make the teams now, they can't keep up, can't make plays, the very few who are still around will be gone by next season, (one or two),
the tough guys who play now, are good players and contribute to the speed and physical play of the teams, makes for exciting hockey.

I agree, talloola. Many of the young players today are much more interested in outplaying their opponents by a combination of skill, hard work and intelligence. The latter is something that I notice more and more hockey commentators talking about - the intelligence that takes a good player up to the great player level and, how many players today reflect the truth of those comments.

Less and less we are seeing the thugs and brutes that once brought crowds to their feet and therein also lies a possible explanation. It could be that fans today appreciate skill over brutality, intelligence over muscle. I know that my enjoyment of the game has risen immensely since this new crop of players got planted in the leagues.

Kids the likes of Toews, Ebberle, Skinner, Crosby, Kane, and so many others have taken the game to a new and higher level of play. As these kids came into the game and imposed their level of hockey on the league, their teammates were also challenged to increase their playing abilities. Some rose to the challenge while others didn't - some like Matt Cooke - needed the coach and entire team to make him see the error of his ways. I doubt that we will see much 'bad' behavior from Matt in the future but we will be able to see why he on the ice - the skills he brings to the team.

The old adage " I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out" no longer rings true and that to me - as a fan - is a great benefit to the game of hockey.

IMHO

Let me tell you something. If you run out of ammo for your rifle on the battlefield and for some reason can't get more, what are you going to do? I would pick up the first enemy gun i found. If they all have AK's ammo would be findable for sure.
That is one of the reasons the US uses the M-16, it takes the same ammo as the AK. You dno't need to pick up the weapon, just the bullets.

age 60 years, a healthy person can expect to live for more than 20 years, whereas the life expectancy of a 60-year-old patient starting hemodialysis is closer to 4 years.

Now that's what I call "close grouping."

Holy shyte, wonder if I should tell my Mother this since she has already gone over 8 years on dialysis and she's now 72.

In other words, that 4 years can vary one fu ck of a lot. It's not written in stone and it IS possible that Ossama lived.

So since many believe we are dealing with a lot of bullsh*t here, why couldn't the report of "Acute Renal Failure" been bullsh*t to start with? Why are some reports regarded as gospel while others are written off as "bullsh*t"? Could it be because it fits closer to what some people wish to believe?

Exactly, the whole dialysis thing was speculation and rumour, nothing more.

As much as I hate to agree with you Gerry on this point I do. We had a family friend who went for 12 years on dialysis and included some cruises and trips overseas in there. It is certainly not written in stone.

Oh, you must be wrong. The Literature Has Spoken. Your mother must not be alive. Are you part of the conspiracy?

Which takes us back to one of my favourite adages "there's an exception to every rule".

You were in the MILITARY?????

The M-16, or its variant, the M4 fires 5.56 x 45mm NATO ammunition (.223 Remington in civilian life)

The AK 47, now obsolete, fires 7.62 x 39mm ammunition.

The AK 74, of which you speak, fires the 5.45 x 39mm round.

NONE of these are even CLOSE to interchangeable.

Do you understand the difference between 7.26x39mm and a 5.56x45mm?

Duh, no! Of course I know, a big complaint we had of the FN was the ammo wasn't interchangeable with our allies. I will defer to Colpy as the biggest gun buff on here as to the current cartridge size although I was always under the belief you could fire AK rounds from the M-16, apparently I am wrong.

Ah....that explains it....your service was ancient history, when we were still carrying REAL rifles in 7.62 x 51.

I have a FN FAL.

Unfortunately, I am no longer allowed to take it out to play.

Otherwise known as a NATO round, or better yet "The right arm of the free world". Used by the bulk of NATO nations since the 50's.

Why can't you take your FN FAL out to play?

I also have a 7.62 x 51, my M14.

I still have my M1 Garand 30.06. Being semi auto., I still use it once in awhile.

UPDATED: Latest WH act of desperation - Videos show bin Laden watching himself on TV

Tags:

Webmaster's Commentary:

The guy with the remote isn't recognizable, you cannot actually see what is on the TV screen, and according to the FBI, the real Osama was left-handed, while the man in the video is using his right hand for the remote control. But other than that, a very convincing picture! Really. I mean it! Splendid work (for the government). Much better than that passport photo over at the Daily Mail!, I mean, just look at those walls! Clearly this is the inside of a million dollar mansion! :)

UPDATE: The EARS have it! The photo on left is captured from video released today. The photo on right is from verified ABC interview of the real Osama Bin Laden before 911 and YouTube.

Ears are as unique as fingerprints, and they do not change with time. The ears do not match (and the noses are also different). The man in the video watching TV is most definitely not Osama Bin Laden.

Actually that would qualify you as a sniper. I have had 5 in 6" at 1000 yds with my .383 and a good scope but only on a stationary paper target.

But can you do it on a live target? Get real here, the victim is going to hit the ground with the first shot so unless he falls exactly right you are never going to get that grouping, especially when you consider his platoon mates should reasonably have opened return fire immediately. And the M-16 is not a long range weapon that has any decent accuracy over about 200 yards, hell its hardly accurate at 100 yards, and you certainly wouldn't get powder burns past 10 yards from any weapon I know of. A triple tap to the forehead in a live fire situation where nobody else is hit nor is any equipment hit even once, even if it was from long range, would still be an assassination and next to impossible!

Three rapid shots would hit almost within inches of each other, no problem. Yes, 3 shots on a live target. Who says there was no powder burns? The range was within a room, say 20 ft. max..

That is one of the reasons the US uses the M-16, it takes the same ammo as the AK. You dno't need to pick up the weapon, just the bullets.
Not even close Mr. Bond.

If you are in Canada, you mean your M1A, the M14 being selective fire is prohibited.

As is the FN FAL despite the fact it is only semi-auto (the version I have)....and that is why I am no longer allowed even to take it to the range.
