I must say, that kind of novelty list makes a bad cinephile such as myself cringe.

How was "The Black Gestapo" not on there?? Or "Avenging Disco Godfather" or "Welcome Home, Brother Charles"?? How bout "Mitchell", which was just right horrid??

You have to see it at a theatre with people who 'know what to do' to truly appreciate this one. Certainly not a cinematic masterpiece.

No, definitely not a cinematic masterpiece. But I do think it's campy fun that should be seen at least once. As a straight up film, it's bad, but it's so bad that it's good.

Harold & Maude

You had me until this title. Sure, Harold And Maude (1971) was a little bit different, but it was a wonderful dark comedy that was pretty ahead of its' time! I mean, you could say that Harold was a bit of a precursor to a modern day Emo kid! *laugh*

I swear, you could see so many young men representing Harold now then back in '71, with no idea what to do in their lives, and questioning life as we know it.

Plus, Ruth Gordon was pretty good in it, as the elderly but carefree Maude. Her messages of living life and all were very well done.

I always loved the reactions that Harold's mom made when she would find him committing another fake suicide.

"Harold, please!"

Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

It depends entirely on the reason for making the film. If it is intended for entertainment without the least thought to social values or a message of any kind then even poorly made films like Plan 9 from Outer Space are reasonable - after all they provide lots of chuckles at the crudity of their production and the absurdity of their plots. I quite enjoy watching the old 1940s movie serials in spite of their utterly ridiculous plots and racist stereotypes. But, of course, I do not take them seriously or consider them attempts at social commentary.

Films intended to be taken seriously are more of a problem if they present a distorted view of reality; especially if such films are intended to influence public opinion.

They did it! They Did it! They banned that poor member!

YOU WANT YJ BACK?!?! YOU CAN'T HAVE YJ BACK!!!!

Yeah, yeah. I know it was Jack Nicholson that said that line(slighly paraphrased, of course;) )at the end of A Few Good Men, but it's the same sort of acting, right?;)

Alexander.

I think I made it about half way through that piece of dreck.

It wasn't even Colin Farrell and his gay scenes with the cabin boy or tent boy or whatever he was.

It was watching him give motivational speeches to his troops whilst crying and getting choked up.

I found myself screaming at the television, "act like a man for the love of god!" He needed a good slap.

Horrible film.

Quite right. As I watched the film I could not help thinking that Farrell's pouting presence was a rather weak portrayal of the man who established the Hellenistic Era.
