I'm read Life.. by Keith Richards..

it's pretty good so far, actually more technical on the blues guitar theory than is expected (or needed).. but i'm not sure what i expected.. he seems like such a burnt out skid row lunatic in his television interviews.. here he writes like a thoroughly sane and sober homebody... it's filled with what i would describe as British working class charm.. but i don't how much his ghost writer was responsible for all that.

I'm reading the same book. Pretty much the same take on it, though I have to say now I am more interested in the Stones than I was before. The technical guitar theory is quite interesting from a guitar player point of view but I know that sort of stuff is going to be lost and likely quite dry to read otherwise.

I think the other guy, does he have a name? heh heh It's tough standing next to Keef. I think he is responsible for things like pace and they way it's more like a conversation you're having with Richards. Interesting to find that he and I have a similar view on drugs. Never really caught the attraction before though I've always like some of the Stones music. Pretty good book so far.

8OWe were dusting the upstairs.......unused........big dust.......yuck. Came across a bunch of books bought at sales a few years ago, and got boxed and "put away for later". Guess today is later, and that's good, as my supply has run out, and so has book money - for now.

This particular one is a history called "ON THE REZ"; by Ian Frazier; and he says; "This book is about Indians, particularly the Oglala Sioux who live on the Pine Ridge Reservation in southwestern South Dakota."

Got to page 5, and almost reboxed it until I saw this observation: "We live in a craven time. I am not the first to point out that capitalism, having defeated Communism, now seems to be about to do the same to democracy." Wish I had written that. Enough to keep me reading, anyway.

Mr. Frazier lives in Montrclair New Jersey; grew up in Ohio, graduate of Harvard, and the 'Lampoon'. Previous books include 'Great Plains', "Family", and 'Coyote vs. Acme'

Anyone wants to read it; I'll send it to you when I'm done IF you pay the postage....................could be a deal breaker right there.;-)

Hey Nuggler! Can you post the ISBN. That way anyone can look it up, besides my daughter works at Chapters, can you say employee discount. It's on the back. I like that quote.

I'm still reading 'The Naked and the Dead, Norman Mailer.' It's long and I'm a evening reader, as in read five pages then start snoring, get hit by wife or drop book on dog. It's getting to the good part though.

Just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. It's a work of fiction, but reads like a true story. The characters may be fictional, but the context sure isn't. Can't recommend it enough to anyone who's interested in having more than a superficial understanding of what it means to be a woman in modern day Afghanistan. It always amazes me when a man can write the story of a woman convincingly.

He also wrote The Kite Runner, which I am now compelled to read as well.

Have no doubt you'll enjoy that; I really enjoyed both.

I just finished reading "The Heroine Diaries" - Nikki Sixx. Although I've always had a little thing for Nikki, I would not normally bother with what I though was a typical rock-star junkie autobiography - I honestly just picked it up, hoping to catch a glimpse of some half naked photos (I was not disappointed btw). Anyway, I read the dedication and thanks right at the beginning, and was intrigued - he seemed to get it. I wound up buying it after reading a few entries and it was a was a good read. Thankfully, there was no part about how the band was formed or endless prattle about horrific childhood trauma; just manic diary entries with people filling in the blanks where he forgot the details, due to being too wasted. I'll give credit where it's due and with this book he took an honest look at himself and what other people had to say about him, during a very insane year of his life, I was impressed. I had no idea he dated Vanity! And he's still got it going on and I forgive him for that tragic slip with Kat Von D, blech. He was totally out of her league.

Slowly but surely I am reading a book cover to cover something I almost never do.
I have to find a way to slow down before going to sleep at night so I read a few
pages before lights out. I am still reading Is It Organic by Mischa Poppoff an actual
organic inspector. He believes in organics but not he way its being done because
we have no idea what is organic and what is not. That industry is a mess, there is
no real assurance that there is consumer protection and the reason is there is no
serious scientific analyses done and no surprise unannounced visits done it is all
paper work and nothing more. But it is much deeper than that. If you want to laugh
get mad as hell, question what the hell is going on and pondering how things can be
done to make sure consumers get their monies worth, it is a good read.

On a whim I picked a used paperback book written by Anne McCaffrey. Was introduced to sci-fi age 15 by English teacher and read these for decades (am 60 now), however, am having trouble getting into it for I think I have outgrown sci-fi now. I usually read informative non-fiction.
