No matter the "correct" saying.....those who haven't, should try it....

I've got WAY too short a temper, and WAY too high expectations......

Baloney, and baloney.

A confession, whether it is believed or not, certainly constitutes "evidence".

Certainly no evidence anyone else did it. And if he didn't do that (which he did), his organization is responsible for attacks on the USS Cole, and on three African embassies, causing hundreds of deaths.

And right, this is a American Imperialist war.....so they can build a pipeline......to supply Kadjikistani (sp)oil to India.....

Those nefarious bastards!

(sarcasm alert)

And all those terrorists that admit to having attended training camps in Afghanistan........all deluded.

Yep.

Wow

We are in Afghanistan because Bush used Harper as a tool to show the world that there is a possibility that someone believed in his agenda. I was watching a show on the military network saying how Russia failed in Afghanistan. It said they didn't really care about peoples thoughts, but rather what they thought the people thought and that is the same thing with us we say we are doing the best for the Afghan people, but they are afraid that they will be killed by us or the Taliban in the middle of fighting. The Taliban might not have given lots of freedoms, but atleast they gave a somewhat peaceful state to the people.

This is probalbly the dumbest comment ever. Having returned from Afghanistan after 6 months, its a real shocker to read what some of you think.

USA was attacked, we went with them to war, as good allies do, under the leadership (some of you have rusty memories) Liberal Leader Paul Martin. We are now there to help rebuild the country, which we are doing very well.

Maybe some of you should leave your glass house and start seeing the world with YOUR OWN EYES instead of relying on biased news agencies to feed you information.

Northen Sun maybe you would like to go and visit the families who had their sons and daughters killed for going to school, looking at men the wrong way, or just being abused outright from their husbands. ( A interpreter was shocked that we dont hit our wives)

We are winning the war, its seen through the throngs of young afghan's working with us on construction projects and various of projects. As for the deal with oil pipelines, I never saw one. I did however see brand new gaspump stations, appartment buildings and shopping markets, that run nicely with their newly paved roads.

So smile that you live in great country such as Canada, and don't take your liberties forgranted

My MBA is in Project Management - Aerospace and I've worked in the Defence and Aerospace industry for 20+ yrs. Now as a consultant to The Canadian Space Agency and recently to DND.

I guess if I was so inclined this is where I could start making Government Agency mismanagement jokes, but I will refrain from getting involved.

The media tells us that we have a noble purpose in Afghanistan: to install democracy there. Now, do the people of Afghanistan want us there? When I hear that some person there decided to kill himself for the sole person of killing Canadian soldiers, it looks to me like a hint and a very strong one that we are not very welcome there.
For the most part Afghans are on our side. They're not too fond of the Taliban.
CBC News In Depth: Afghanistan

We installed Karzai there 7 years ago; why does he need foreign soldiers to keep him in power? When Taliban took power, it didn't need any foreign soldiers to keep them in power. When Saddam Hussein took power in Iraq, he didn't need foreign soldiers to keep him in power.
The Karzai government needs us because well you see there's these guys called the Taliban and these Taliban are mighty angry about losing power so they are going to do what ever they can to get their power back. We need to back up the Afghan government until they're army and police are strong enough to take over.

We are being told by yellow media that our Afghan army in its "embryonic state", that it takes long time to train a soldier. Well, in 7 years, you can train a brain surgeon, not just a soldier. The truth is that people of Afghanistan do not support Karzai and his corrupt Government, and do not wish to serve in his army. How come out of 30 million population, he cannot find a couple of thousands to replace Canadians?
Where are you getting your info from? The Afghan National Army(ANA) is growing very rapidly. Right now there are about 80,000 ANA troops, last year around this time there were about 57,000 troops and this is an all volunteer army. By mid 2009 there will be 86,000 troops.

As far as quality of soldiers are concerned, they seem to be born soldiers. They managed to defeat mighty Soviet Army. Remember my words: the final outcome for Americans and foreign occupiers of Afghanistan will be exactly the same as with Soviets: sooner or later, the people of Afghanistan will kick them out of the country.
Afghans support us more than they do the Taliban. The Soviets were fighting the Mujahideen which was made up of Afghans from all over the country. We are fighting the Taliban which is made up of mostly Pashtuns.

What are we doing in Afghanistan?

We're there because America couldn't wait to get its hands on Saddam, so it lied to its people about the threat, and with the excuse of nine-eleven, invaded Iraq. Unfortunately, it wasn't "mission accomplished" when anticipated and the US forces were strained in warfare.

So Canada, being the dedicated little brother, decided to help kill the bad guys where America really should be. We were sitting pretty till about a thousand of them little buggers broke out of prison....now we've earned an extended stay. -sigh-

Well first of all, don't listen to the media. Most of the taliban are coming over from pakistan, there have been some chechnians, and there have been some others, that i'm not allowed to say.

The afghan's, want us there, they just cant come out and say else they will be kidnapped and killed. I have seen it.

benny maybe you should head over the afghanistan they you will have some knowledge of whats going on overthere then you will see how bad our media is for its bias on all political level's

We were in afghanistan for 2 years before america invaded iraq. what are you trying to say here?

you might want to learn something about guerilla warfare. the more you kill, the more come back. what have done is balanced it out with the killing and building projects, to win the people over. the prison break did not affect our ability over there at all, infact it was a real eye opener for me seeing people come out in the throngs, helping us and the afghan's, catch the escapees

Spade that is true in my opinion.

Do our service men and women even know where it is and why they are there?

Afghanistan. This is the correct spelling but does it matter?

An observation & opinion.
