This mine has been widely used by various countries, so uncleared minefields containing M14s do exist. Additionally, several copies of the design have been manufactured locally by countries such as India.

the USA basically gives them away to tin pot dictators as they are cheap and don't have the massive destructive firepower of the mines the US uses now to maim kids worldwide

Oh give me a break! What tin pot dictators?

What US mines strewn around to blow up kids?

You are just pulling stuff out iof your ass......is there a brain-dead politically correct idea you don't subscribe too?

Knee-jerk, unthinking anti-US sentiment is an unattractive habit, all too common in Canada.

What gets me about anti-US sentiment is that there is so much of it that people could bring up that is factual and important.

Instead bizarre and outright lies of the tabloid variety are all thats said, it makes any reasonable critisism of the USA useless, since you get lumped in what that lunacy.

don't mistake anti-US for anti-US policy. American people as a whole are not bad. It's the mental midget they've had in power for the last 8 yrs that the world is disgusted by

Question: What are we doing in Afghanistan?
Answer: Waiting to get the hell out!

Apologists often jaw that we're there to bring Afghanis democracy. It would be nice if we tried that here in Canada first where 2/3 of us think the Afghan mission is less than stellar.

Meanwhile, a cheery quote from Kipling:
"When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains, and the women come out to cut up what remains, jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains and go to your gawd like a soldier. "

Marines Bypass Taliban Opium Fields in Afghanistan

'The Taliban, whose fighters are exchanging daily fire with the Marines in Garmser, derives up to $100 million a year from the poppy harvest by taxing farmers and charging safe passage fees — money that will buy weapons for use against U.S., NATO and Afghan troops.
Yet the Marines are not destroying the plants. In fact, they are reassuring villagers the poppies won’t be touched. American commanders say the Marines would only alienate people and drive them to take up arms if they eliminated the impoverished Afghans’ only source of income. Many Marines in the field are scratching their heads over the situation.

Bush's cluster bombs have killed plenty as we have discussed on other threads.

It's from 35-45 years ago, but there are still quite a few people (including children) being killed today in Laos from unexploded ordnances during the "secret war" in proxy with the Vietnam War. The U.S. dropped 2 million tonnes of bombs in 9 years on Laos... There's a documentary concerning the work being done to remove these bombs today.

It can be watched here:
