What part of "phase out" don't you bozos get? The rest of the world is phasing out oil. The market will phase out the tar sands. The price of tar sands oil is already so low, it is already not economically feasible to mine that crap. Embrace the future, you old dinosaurs or fade away with that goop.

You mean like China is phasing out oil & coal by building a new coal fired power plan every week? Phasing out only in your & mentalflosses wet dreams maybe.

The most efficient method of phasing out oil would of course be phazing out humans. There are to many of us afterall, we're eating all the fdlowers. How will the unicorns survive? The planet will be just as happy growing only trees

On top of whatever remains of us.

"abiotic"

Is that a fancy, new word for "snake"?

No, it is a fancy word for an unproven theory that oil, gas, and coal may come from non-organic sources. No one has been able to prove this theory and given the location of oil, gas, and coal fields there does not seem to be much evidence for it. Given its dubious authenticity "snake" might be a very good adjective to describe it.

We would have burned every dead dynosaur and jungle in the first fews decades of the oil age, and thats being liberal with numbers. Just search abiotic oil and get up to speed on your hydrocarbon lore.

Not a particularly scientific post considering that dinosaurs are not and never were the source of oil. Oil deposits are found in areas that were once ancient seas, not land. But does it really matter given the current trend toward green energy sources?

Yes there is. Maybe not in the hole that you keep crawling out of, but yes there is.

Let's see the stupid fu ck have one of his "town hall" meetings here in Calgary and make statements like that. The "finger" his old man got will be like a love-in in comparison.
Town hall meeting in Calgary?
Hilarious!

Not nice news but he's just telling it like it is.

Trudeau's 'phase out' oilsands comments spark outrage in Alberta

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sparked immediate anger among Alberta politicians on Friday by suggesting Canada should "phase out" the oilsands.

Speaking at a town hall in Peterborough, Ont., Trudeau was asked about his government's approval of pipelines and his commitment to the environment.

"You can't make a choice between what's good for the environment and what's good for the economy," Trudeau said. "We can't shut down the oilsands tomorrow. We need to phase them out. We need to manage the transition off of our dependence on fossil fuels.

"That is going to take time. And in the meantime, we have to manage that transition."

Ok so if "oil" is going to be phased out, how are the Trudeau-ites and their ilk going to fly in their private jets and helicopters; sail their yachts etc? I dunno, have planes been adapted to solar panels and wind mills yet? Be kinda scary to fly - especially at night LOL.

Nah, oil is going to be here for a good long time yet.

DOn't sweat it. You will be phased out long before oil is. ANd the taxpayer funded hearse that packs your sorry carcass off to the dump will be powered by oil.

Figure on 100 years, absolute minimum - I would personally predict NEVER! Before much happens in that regard they'll figure out cleaner ways of burning it.

Canada has enough oil in the ground that has already been tapped to last 100 years. Cold Lake has enough heavy crude to last that long also so the crap from Syncrude is not needed and it costs $50/barrel to produce and the other sources is pegged at about $8/ barrel. Everybody forget how to do the math???

What a helpless puppet our little potato is. I wonder if he felt a pull on his strings from the abrasive words launched at him last week from a certain American celebrity on the popular oil sands heli tour? We all know image and celebrity is everything to this guy. It's likely the main reason for his decision for a campaign style tour 1 year into his mandate. I wonder if he rolls over, and fetches as well.

Perhaps having Colas as a sandbox has let him see a useless project for what it really is. A way to falsely make the price of oil higher than it needs to be.

We will always need oil products and even if we shutdown the bitmuin fields we will have to import it.

And guess what folks it will be the equivalent of buying blood diamonds because the extraction of oil in other countries isnt near our standards or similar to our ethics.

It will be like trading with the mafia while at the same time preaching against organized crime.
