Down on the farm, my brother and I would hunt ground hogs with a flame thrower. My dad bought it to attack tent caterpillar infestations. Would shoot a flame as high as any tree on the place.

Not sure how much legitimate demand there is for it out there on the street! -:)
Street no, farm yes. Everything from boulders, beaver dams 'buildings and stumps.

Beaver dams were the funnest to blow to bits.

And yes, it was bought from CO-OP

Careful about them beaver dams.... My mix did a great job on the dam. Unfortunately, the released water did a better job on a ¾-mile section of CPR

Bush parties.

Horseback riding, no helmet, no "lessons", any horse (friends, local farmers with permission)

Playing with farm animals without supervision. The only rule being Don't get killed. White geese are nasty creatures, as are some goats, some sheep, some pigs and the odd cow. You soon learned to avoid those ones and play with the fun ones.

Basically mucking about the village, town, neighbourhood. I rarely see children outside playing....

Even the farm rooster was something to be feared

Are they any better today? Our rooster was a mean bastard and made the mistake of flying at my old man who happened to have a pickaroon in his hand and knocked him out cold.

City friends would be all like...that little chicken? ah yea, I'll catch it and pet it and make it my friend.

Country kids be like we ain't going anywhere near there without an empty bucket and broom stick.

Are they any better today?

Nope, but n-one's going to let kids onto their property in case they get hurt and sue. Back in my day, if you got hurt, you got hurt. You're parents would smack ya for being stupid and getting hurt. You're siblings would tease you mercilessly for being stupid too. Chances are the owner of the property sat back and laughed at you too. You hung your head in embarrassment.

use a home made sling shot:

I remember at about age 11 when a friend got tired of using his and gave it to me as a gift. You cannot believe how accurate it was! Take a small stone and you never missed your mark. When it broke apart after a couple of years I tried to make one on my own but it was nowhere as good as it was.

Watch Wimbledon win the FA Cup, as the "Crazy Gang" surprisingly did against Liverpool in the 1988 FA Cup Final when I was 6.

I know my kids (if I were to have any) won't ever be able to do this because of the fact that Wimbledon FC no longer exists because, in 2004, they relocated to Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire and became known as the Milton Keynes (or MK) Dons.

They were replaced by AFC Wimbledon.

Playing Red Rover, getting pulled on a toboggan behind my dads car, dad letting me drive the car around to the back so he could wash it and sitting on my grandpa's lap driving down the highway so he could look at the crops without swerving all over the road! I was about 10 or so and did "real good" until a block away from my house - turned a corner a bit fast - I'm almost positive that the drivers side wheels left the ground...grandpa just laughed and laughed! My parents weren't too happy when we pulled up to the house. Sigh - those were the days....
