There have been 18 US school shootings this year. Is it time to arm teachers?

This is an interesting look at the businesses that are cutting ties to the NRA.

When you join up with the NRA part of the $40 gets you deals with a whole list of businesses. So anti gun people have gotten around to talking to these businesses about what they are doing supporting such a horrible organisation, and the answer turns out to be that if enough people ask hem that question they stop partnering with the NRA. Almost all of them have now done so - especially after the NRA started calling the teenage survivors of the shooting play actors - as is their usual ploy.

So really its a dollars and cents issue.

What business can afford to offend 300 million Americans in order to curry the favor of 5 million (which is a grossly inflated number anyway)

FL Shooting Survivor: Sheriff
'Virtue-Signaling Against the NRA'
Must Resign After Officers' Inaction

A survivor of the Florida school shooting spoke out against the Broward County sheriff as well as those who are injecting gun control politics into the tragedy.

Kyle Kashuv said Gov. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and others have done "definitely enough" to bring attention to school safety issues.

527,316 people are talking about this

He said the mental health issue is a "bipartisan" topic, and that people should be coming together rather than retreating to political corners.

Kashuv said Sheriff Scott Israel "outraged" him with his conduct at Wednesday's televised town hall event.

Israel railed against the National Rifle Association and its key spokeswoman, Dana Loesch.

Meanwhile, Kashuv said Israel likely knew about his department's shortcomings, in that several officers remained outside during the gunfire.

Kashuv said Israel was "virtue signaling against the NRA" and "didn't even act properly."

He said Israel's department failed the community and that the Democrat "absolutely needs to resign" his elected post.

Scott Israel, now there is someone who doesn't deserve to own a gun.

Florida Republican lawmakers and the NRA (also republican lawmakers) want to hang the sheriff in Florida.
The sheriff and 3 deputies cowered behind their vehicles. I bet if someone told them there was a gram of weed on the premises half the cops in the county would have rushed the place.

NRA's feeling hurt but they soldier on. As for the companies that have cut ties with them

""In time, these brands will be replaced by others who recognize that patriotism and determined commitment to Constitutional freedoms are characteristics of a marketplace they very much want to serve,"

I am wondering what brand will be willing to risk offending the 99% of Americans who are not NRA members?

It seems unlikely.

You know, of those that support the NRA, I would lay a wager only 1 in 5 have a membership.

The proposal of arming the teachers fundamentally misreads the source of 10 fold factor of this type of event (non terrorist mass shootings) in the United States.

This type crime presents itself as an an opportunity potential shooters, always with a profile of an intense sense of physical inferiority, sexual inadequacy, social isolation, personal persecution.. as means of compensation and revenge.. BECAUSE of the prominence of guns and gun culture in USA.

The NRA promotes a culture that portrays gun ownership as a badge of manhood; the home as a fortress against dark forces that lurk in society; government, community and police as an inadequate response to this pervasive threat.

The ONLY way to reduce this is to control guns. Like they do in Canada, Europe, Japan.. which allows responsible ownership of hunting weaponry but severely limits that for 'protection'. And certainly does not allow the wearing of concealed handguns as a 'right'.

In Florida it is estimated that 10% of adult population is armed.. and it likely hasn't saved and single life and produces any number of horror stories of mistaken motives or road rage or domestic altercations ratcheted up to fatal consequences by the presence of a gun. It'll be the same with teachers, and will cultivate more shootings than it will prevent.

The Second Amendment was NOT a free for all for gun nuts, murderers and psychopaths. It was intended to protect the right of communities to establish Citizen Militias.. by their nature highly regulated and disciplined structures.. as a bulwark against tyranny.

It has morphed into this unrecognizable and irrational construct of gun ownership as a facet of individual liberty by the lobbying of the NRA. This is a group with 5 million members and the organization, financing and cunning to make this small minority and decisive force in American legislatures.

In Florida it is estimated that 10% of adult population is armed..

It is proven that 100% of the shootings are committed by this 10%

But pro gunners are too busy blaming 51% of the crime being committed by 13% of the people. Those would be the black people. Because they commit half the crime.

But 100% of the gun crimes are committed by the small percentage of armed Americans - and that somehow doesn't matter.

Because the NRA.

Trump says he would have 'run in there' to stop Parkland shooting - ABC News

Trump "I would have run in there"

Every day its something stupid.

Every day.

And now for something completely different - the deputies thought the gun fire was coming from outside.

So are they still cowards?

Is the NRA still right to blame them?

Oddly I now believe Trump.

He would have run inside.

I guess the biggest school massacre was not done by a gun, so right there all the " we want to take all your guns so we can murder all of you for political reasons " types are dead in the wrong on this anti freedom gun grabbing issue.
