We've gone from pro gun/anti gun shoot em out to it is all the fault of liberal loonies. Geezus folks, it's about a bunch of kids dying. Get a freakin' grip! It is not about guns, laws or politics. Its about how so completely screwed up this "civilization" is and all these stupid arguments are never going to make it better. And if you don't think this culture is seriously screwed, just go back and read through this thread.

yes, and a big part of the problem you mention is the gun problem in the country, can't leave that out.

Yeah, it would be nice if the people who don't know or understand about firearms would keep their mouths shut.

we are discussing 'violence' with firearms. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to have a intelligent opinion about firearms in a conversation like that.

I think most of us realize that there are certain people who can legally pack a gun for good reason,
this conversation doesn't refer to those people.

There are far too many loopholes in the system, and far too many who make big profits from manufacturing
and selling firearms that are 'for shooting people', and contributing to that violence.

Are you an expert in firearms?

We have hunting rifles and a shot gun locked up in a gun rack, those guns are used when the season
calls for their use, out in the bush, with a licence, hunting game.
Nothing wrong with that, it is a responsible use of firearms, that is not the subject here.

It is 'violence' with guns.

I also forgot to add that hunting IS already incredibly expensive as well as over regulated.
It is?

If you phoned me right now and said 'lets go shooting" I'd be packed up and have coffee made and ready to go blow away some coyotes within ten minutres. Why wait for game season, licenses and trudging through bush?

Open season on them and their cute little puppies and .223 is by far the best weapon option.

We can't have coyotes eating kids as they play at school can we?

I wasn't either, just about people who keep talking about "banning guns", I know there are nuts who should never touch a gun but it's next to impossible to put an end to it!-:)

And it took a lot of posts before it got derailed into an anti-gun rant by the usual suspects....

Oh please. And what about the rights of those free children? Or those free people in the mall, or a theater, or just some person walking down the street?

That's right, they HAVE no rights because only the idiot with the gun has rights (cause he's the guy with the gun, thus all the power of the moment, after all). Unless they're armed too, then they have rights?

As a private citizen, it's not a RIGHT to keep arms, it is a PRIVILEGED.

Really??

What part of "....the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" do you not understand???

That be fine for you citiots but what about farmers, prospectors and engineers that regularly spend time alone in the bush? Did you know that I can legally pack a handgun working in the bush? Did you know that farmers don't have the same rule re storage of firearms as the rest of us? NOte that none of these groups have any kind of bad track record with their tools. Same goes for target shooters. The criminal acts amoung this group is near zero. The problem is almost completely with the urban crowd and making laws to control them is infringing on the safety and enjoyment of the rest of us.
Get a crossbow.

And it was militia. The general public is no longer a militia.

Wrong. In two different ways.

First of all, the preamble about militia in no way modifies the declarative phrase of the Amendment ".....the right of the PEOPLE shall not be infringed". And the SCOTUS agrees.

Secondly, the US Code, which codifies the workings of the US gov't:

(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard. (b) The classes of the militia are - (1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and (2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.

You keep repeating this. You must be trying to convince yourself as well as everyone else. You sound desperate.

So give us a time frame, Risus, what year will the U.S. and Canada be completely void of guns? I'll give you the year.................same one as Armageddon!

Northern Ontario,
Because it's true and some people need to get it into their heads.
Anyone capable of logical thinking doesn't need convincing.

He's not the one talking about gun owning members, members.
Seems like the dill pickle analogy applies once again to the one you replied to:lol:

Drugs are banned and....

Isn't the War or Drugs lost and a big failure?

If guns were banned, the weapons would not have been in the home and nutzo wouldn't have had access to them. Pretty simple.

Like weed? Cocaine? Meth? They're banned. How is that working out?

You can't compare drugs and guns............sensible people use guns and besides drugs will only go away when all the head honchos get behind it..............crack is used by every profession. If you are going to get rid of the "rot" you have to start at the top.

He's not comparing guns and drugs. He's demonstrating how "successful" a ban is on altering people's behaviour.
