That right must be revoked. Time and time again people have shown their incapability to be responsible with guns. The reality is that in general people are just too dumb or crazy to be owning firearms. I'm not against sane and responsible people owning firearms, problem is we have no magic wand to tell us who is and who isn't mentally incapable of owning a firearm. Sure we can do screening and background checks, but that doesn't usually tell us if he/she has an insane child living at his house. Guns continually get into the wrong hands, we can see from the statistics that U.S has the highest gun-related fatalities in the world. When do you do something about it and is there any other viable solution that doesn't require banning firearms? I don't think so, unless we find a cure for a sick society.

So liberty must be revoked.

The USA has a murder rate much lower than the world average.

It is becoming a troubling society, I agree....the drift away from cultural adherence to an accepted norm of behaviour, the loss of the family, of community, of Christianity is a disaster.

Isn't it already?...... unless you are out hunting?
I mean stop selling ammunition for any handguns and semi-automatics, unless at a range. Go to a range, buy and shoot, then leave with an empty weapon. Hunting should be highly regulated with incredibly expensive licensing. Ammo should be picked up at the start of the trip and should not go home with anyone.

**** are you ever STUPID.

I can make you just as dead with a Bic pen. Want to ban them too?

Just because you don't go hunting doesn't mean the rest of us should be denied that right.
No one could kill 27 people at a school with a pic pen or a knife.

Yup that would be a great place for thieves to steal a whole lot of ammunition.
If I go to the club to shoot, I usualy come back home with only empty casings for reloads.....

Another bright idea:roll:...People comming up north from wWindsor...lets say could travel 700miles to come and hunt in Kapuskasing or Hearst and you would trust them to have that ammo for the whole trip but not in their home....

You aren't too bright if you don't understand the consequences of what is going on.

This was clearly bad judgment on the part of a Mother who had a seriously disturbed son. If you are to be a gun owner you must consider securing that weapon and making it unavailable to everyone except those you want availed. This young man took the lives of many before turning the gun on himself and it seems that there were many red flags. What a sad sad story..

Keeping arms is the right of a free man.

Oh please. And what about the rights of those free children? Or those free people in the mall, or a theater, or just some person walking down the street?

That's right, they HAVE no rights because only the idiot with the gun has rights (cause he's the guy with the gun, thus all the power of the moment, after all). Unless they're armed too, then they have rights?

As a private citizen, it's not a RIGHT to keep arms, it is a PRIVILEGED.

Why does a tragedy like this have to become a soap box screaming match with two sides exploiting the senseless murder of innocents to further their own ideology?

I'm not sure what side I find more disgusting.

Yup, let's all say it: BLAME OBAMA!

In 18th century usage, "well regulated" meant well armed, not well controlled as many think today.
And it was militia. The general public is no longer a militia.

If we continue to abuse our freedoms then society will eventually vote them away.

I give it two more Columbines before the US finally says screw the constitution and Colpy's people lose a part of their heritage.

It will still happen, Just in far more grotesque, horrific and brutal ways. Then what? Ban chainsaws? Machettes? Axes? Knives?, Acids, Poisons?

The one I'd hate to see happen the most is arson with excellerants.
