Free Healthcare? Where do you get free healthcare?
It's certainly not, nor was it ever, free in Canada.

Unless of course you don't pay any taxes, then I suppose it is free.

Canada's Healthcare system has been in trouble for quite some time, but you will be hard pressed to find a politician with the testes to sit
down and have a frank conversation on how to fix it. Even some of the responses I see here is a clear indication that people just don't get the fact that our system needs an overhaul. There will need to be some tough decisions made if we are to continue to have socialized medicine in this Country, but as long as it is treated as some holy grail, things will only get worse.

bankrupt by 2050. Thats when Politicians wont be able to ignore it.
By that time, all will understand we can't afford this noble dream..
And then it will collapse. I don't really care to much.
My children will be stuck with the problem.
A mentality I learned from my parents and grand parents.

Monkey see monkey doo.

It won't collapse. We'll just get a new tax.

Remember when things were good and all we had was a low Provincial Health & Education Tax?

Now education is nailed to your home taxes, health now consumes majority of PST which replaced the other tax and now we expect money from GST for healthcare from Fed transfers and hospitals are now malls that raffle off houses to pay bills and buy equipment.

WTF is that all about?

I think there is one thing worse than bankrupt....

a system that is already bankrupt, but we just keep fixing it by raising taxes.

imo, we are already there because costs are already higher than most productive members of society are willing to pay.

No matter where you go on the planet, a highly skilled worker is going to cost pretty close to the same as here.

The personal attacks need to stop. Some more so than others. There is no reason why civilized discussion cannot be taking place. Discussions about further action will be forthcoming.

I know what I left. I left it because Angstrom replied to it, and it certainly was not the most offensive post in the thread. That post has been removed. Now let's just concentrate on the topic of the thread.

Please stick to the OT. Any further discussions about removed posts are not needed and will be removed as well. Thank you.

Eventually it will collapse.
Running any successful socialist program, takes none corrupted great political minds.
Fat chance those getting elected here in Canada.

Yes because we don't dare discuss a silly policy. That would be unacceptable.

I wonder how long before this post gets clipped LOL.

You can apreciate that cleaning up after you guys is no fun for her, eh? I'm sure it was an accident.

You guys? Really? What did I do that was offensive?

That's the problem with censorship. Everyone gets screwed.

Highly skilled and productive are worth every penny. Highly skilled and unproductive threaten to take every penny.

Hmm... did you know that in China, which has a Communist government ruling a free-market economy (lots of people confuse Capitalism with free-enterprise, such that they don't know you can have a Communist government with a free-enterprise economy... Communism/Capitalism define how ownership works, whereas managed/free-enterprise defines how work gets done) and in China, health-care is not provided by the state... it's a user-pay system.

They did that along with their one-child policy, in order to control population growth. They knew that allowing for universal health insurance would keep too many people alive.

Are you sure about all of that?

 Hey you guys - go heist someone elses thread.

Start your own if you have no interest in this topic. You are way off the topic and it is getting nasty - so please go away from here.

Moderators - please close this thread as the decent folk who initially gave me the info I requested did a good job of it and the rest is just garbage.

Thanks
