First of all, I'm not even close to a "right-wing nutter", especially if held up against the American political spectrum.

Secondly, idiots slamming out derogatory labels like "far-left" or "Extreme right" or "Communist" or "Fascist" or "right-wing nutter" are a BIG part of the ****ing problem.

Thirdly, I DO understand the meaning of the word "represent", I sure as hell don't need an English lesson from you!

Fourthly, what the symbol "represents" is the fact that the riding has been marked as one ripe for political take over, targeted, if you would....you know, something like this.....

Tories target urban ridings

Jack Layton targets Tory ridings in pre-election tour - The Globe and Mail

And it doesn't matter how much you idiots twist and turn, it is STILL a surveyors' mark on Palin's ad. If she'd used a pointed finger, some idiot would clain it represented a gun, if she used an arrow, they'd claim she was encouraging bow assasinations. This bit is only SLIGHTLY less ridiculous...

And Fifth, and to the most important point I have been TRYING to make, is the problem with American politics is the rapidly increasing gap between left and right, a polarization that is extremely unhealthy for the nation.

guess what?

You AREN'T helping.

GEEZUS!!!!!!

All good points.

JBEE?????

Instinctively, lefties are trying to see if they can blame (a) free speech in general, and (b) free speech by Fox News and Sarah Palin in particular for what happened. If the Second Amendment can be implicated as well, so much the better. Listening to the left, there’s nothing wrong with America that scrapping the First and Second Amendments — free speech and the right to bear arms — couldn’t cure.

The assassin should had learned from the Europeans,

he should had followed the rep. around, find out what car she drives and organize an "accident" on the Highway.

Well that saves me from replying to an insipid post. That's the second time you took the wind out of my sails, in less then a month, lol.

But I can't think of anyone better suited to do it, than you.

Good work sir.

I'm sure Hedy Fry doesn't think she is a left-wing nutter either.

Of course I'm helping. The first step in problem solving is to identify the problem. I have identified you. The proof is in the pudding. If you don't want to be labeled as a right-wing nutter, stop acting like one. (and this is coming from a guy that once worked on a Reform Party election campaign)

Yesterday when i was using my GPS in them hills i refrained from using the crosshair marker on my map and for points. I used the red dot instead. We can all rest assured now that when the good copy of this map is handed in with the proffesional report the person reading it wont go crazy and all wacko..... Thank me later :)

What do you think just trying to impose tighter gun laws would do to the polarization of the people if you think it is bad now?

If anybody read the Arizona gun laws I posted, you would see that IF protocols were followed he would never have gotten that gun legally.

If you took your right-wing nutter glasses off for two seconds you would see that I'm not smearing Palin over this tragedy. I'm smearing her because she degrades political debate. It's a common trait you right-wing nutters share with the left-wing nutters. As soon as folks like you and Hedy Fry **** off and leave the intelligent discussion to the rest of us, we may actually get alot accomplished.
So Palin degrades political debate?

Just a minute!

Great commentary about Arizona murders - Ezra Levant

The FIRST time I have ever listened to a commentary by Bill O'Reilly........is THIS the guy that every lefty here so loathes, that is accused of destroying the very fabric of American society???????

Good Lord! The man is positively benevolent, even praising Obama!!!!! The only thing I didn't like was his constant reference to the "far-left".....but I guess turnabout is fair play.

And his comments are dead on.

The lefties really can't stand it when someone disagrees with them, can they?

If I understand O'Reilly, he's saying that the radical left wing is wrong to make political hay out of this incident, because they are just as guilty as the radical right of using inflammatory language to attack their critics and violent metaphors to make their points. That's somewhat true, but beside the point.

The way I see it, this isn't a left/right issue, but a issue between those who use inflammatory language and violent metaphors to attack their opponents and those who don't. Those people who maintain a higher level of civility have every right to criticize those who don't, especially when people like Sarah Palin put them in a gun sight's "cross hairs" in their propaganda.

Actually, I agree with the second part of your post.......as for the "gun culture gone mad", that is simply the BS we've come to accept as your standard.

Look at comparative murder statistics.

Where is the USA??????

In the middle.
Yes the United States gun homicide rate is in the middle, when compared to all countries including Somalia (civil war), Columbia (drug wars) and South Africa (desperate poverty). The US gun homicide rate is about the same as Zimbabwe and Mexico.
Homicides > Gun Violence statistics - countries compared - NationMaster

But the US is "dead" last when compared just to other developed countries.

The United States has the highest rate among developed countries.[9]
Gun violence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The problem isn't US gun ownership so much as US gun culture. Switzerland has a very high rate of gun ownership, but a negligible gun homicide rate:
BBC News | EUROPE | Switzerland and the gun
and
Armed, but Not Necessarily Dangerous - By Joshua E. Keating | Foreign Policy

I suspect that Swiss politicians and news pundits probably don't advocate murder and assassination to solve their problems or use inflammatory language and violent metaphors to attack their opponents as frequently as their American counterparts. While Sara Palin and other politicians and pundits (on the left and right) who use inflammatory language and violent metaphors are not guilty of any crime, they do promote attitudes and a culture which leads to a high gun homicide rate and yes those who promote civility should take this opportunity to make political hay out of this tragedy to encourage rational civil debate.

So Palin degrades political debate?

Yes. If the only defense of her is to point the finger at others then I guess that pretty much says it all. Paul Kanjorski is no better and that's what separates me from the nutters. I see the crap on both sides and don't excuse it because I happen to like their politics.

Northern Ontario,
I find it interesting that as soon as the shooting occurred people on the left of the political spectrum were quick to jump on Palin and others as the cause of the incident.

Even some people who are not admittedly on the left jumped on the bandwagon.....until the next day when it started to look as if they were (pardon the analogy) too quick on the trigger.

Now that it has been proven that that the assumptions were all wrong the 'above it all' so called centrists are jumping on the wagon to pontificate and wag their fingers at both right and left.

What a bunch of bleepin' hypocrites!!

Was Loughner In Love With Congresswoman Giffords?

It has now come to light that Loughner’s anger was fostered in part from being rejected by women. Messages posted on a gaming forum show that Loughner expressed his frustration with getting the brush off.
“On May 5, he started a thread titled “Talk, Talk, Talking about Rejection.” He solicited stories of rejection by the opposite sex. The next day he wrote, “Its funny…when..they say lets go on a date about 3 times..and they dont….go…” Three days later, he wrote, “Its funny when your 60 wondering……what happen at 21.”
Since the tragic shootings, we have also learned that Giffords’ You Tube channel was subscribed to Loughner’s You Tube channel which contained his inane ramblings about mind control and his frustration with people’s use of language and grammar. This connection is made even more bizarre by the fact that Giffords is only subscribed to one other person, another Congressman, therefore her subscribing to Loughner’s channel could not have been an accident.
Unsurprisingly, Giffords’ subscription to her own attempted assassin’s You Tube page was scrubbed almost immediately after the shootings.

The Westboro Church individuals planned on picketing at her funeral, Dean Blundel the Canadian radio host at 102.1 the edge made a deal with them to give air time if they don't picket at the little girl's funeral.

Really?

There actually was a proposal to pass an emergency law banning the protest at the little girl's funeral.

I deleted the rest of my statement.....

Sarah Palin’s Cross Hairs – and Obama’s

John V. Walsh,
January 12, 2011

It was a coincidence but an enlightening one. As I heard of Sarah Palin’s cartoon cross hairs trained on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and other politicians along with Barack Obama’s condemnation of violence, I happened to be tuning into a TV documentary on WikiLeaks.

There, 30 minutes into the video, I found myself staring into real cross hairs – not the cartoon version on Palin’s Facebook page.

These were from the videos of the helicopter gunship, mowing down civilians in cold blood, including reporters from Reuters, in the WikiLeaks release “Collateral Murder.” Those who have seen this – far too few, since it did not get saturation coverage of the type reserved for the murders in Tucson – remember the cold-blooded killings of innocents who received no warning and no request to surrender. They were gunned down in cold blood along with the good Samaritan Iraqis who tried to rescue one of the wounded lying in a giant pool of his own blood and take him to a hospital.

So let us compare the real-life cross hairs trained on these innocents to the cartoon cross hairs of the dimwit Sarah Palin, puppet of the neocons. One set of cross hairs is figurative hyperbole, equivalent to the cry of Obama in his campaign, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.” But the other in the WikiLeaks video is cold-blooded, calculated murder. And although that murder occurred on Bush’s watch, the same murders continue today under Obama’s direction – in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan – and not just with helicopter gunships but with drones and bombers, killing hundreds, if not thousands by now, two years into the peace presidency of the Messiah. These are the forces of mass murder that Obama dispatches to the Central Asian killing fields each day. Is this man less a war criminal than Bush/Cheney?

I wonder what goes through the minds of the Democratic Party activists as they avert their gaze from the real cross hairs to the cartoon ones. The Dems seem to be a latter-day version of Luisafrom The Fantasticks. Not to defend Sarah Palin, who has parlayed her beauty and personal charm into a useful tool for the neocons. But who is worse – the phony peace president Obama, or the silly, powerless Palin? Or is the death of defenseless civilians at Obama’s hands to be overlooked because they are poor Asians and helpless Muslims, instead of a congresswoman?

Obama fits neatly into the central theme of Andrew Bacevich’s book Washington Rules. The book’s most important message is that the foreign policy of the U.S. empire is marked by continuity. A new beginning is not heralded by each presidency, as the “progressives,” who can see no farther than the next election, would argue. Rather as Bacevich shows and Chomsky and others, among them libertarians and consistent paleocons, have argued for decades, the imperatives of U.S. foreign policy endure from one president to the next. Those who seek refuge in the next savior to win the peace, at least as long as he is readily anointed without strife by one of the major parties, are bound to be sorely disappointed.

Sarah Palin and her dismal cartoons are the outpourings of an idiot useful to the champions of empire. But the real gold dirt for them is Obama, a pol who can co-opt the forces for peace and lead us ever deeper into killing fields where the dead, maimed, and displaced can scarcely be counted. Which is worse?

102.1 the edge!? lol

If the type of moronic `music` they play is any indication of who the listening audience is, they`ve yet to even HEar about the incident in Arizona. It would be a complete waste of air-time imo.

Westboro church calls off protest of girl's funeral

The Westboro Baptist Church has agreed not to picket a nine-year-old girl's funeral in exchange for airtime on radio stations in Arizona and Toronto.
The WBC is a Christian group with an extreme anti-homosexual agenda based out of Topeka, Kan., and headed by Pastor Fred Phelps.
With just 70 or so members, mostly from Phelps's family, the group has drawn widespread attention for protesting the funerals of soldiers, politicians and murder victims, arguing their deaths are God's punishment for North America's sins.
The group had planned to picket Thursday's funeral for nine-year-old Christina Taylor Green in Tucson, Ariz. Green was one of six people killed in a shooting rampage Saturday that left Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords fighting for her life.
But the group agreed to call off the protest in exchange for airtime on 102.1 The Edge in Toronto and KXXT-AM in Phoenix, Ariz.
Shirley Phelps-Roper, the church's spokeswoman, was on the The Dean Blundell Show on The Edge Tuesday morning and will be on again Thursday morning at 9 a.m.

http://c.casalemedia.com/c/4/1/8333...tdC5jb20vTkZYL2dvLzI2MDM4OTM0MS9kaXJlY3QvMDEv

“She spewed her religious rhetoric and she agreed not to go to the funeral,” host Dean Blundell told QMI Agency. “I just couldn't stomach those parents out there, with those idiots across the street screaming at them.”
Blundell has invited Phelps-Roper on the show five or six times before, he said, usually to prevent the group from attending Canadian events, like Toronto's Gay Pride Parade.
“It's an effort to expose her for the crack she is and protect Canada from her,” he said.
Blundell hopes Thursday's appearance will convince the WBC not to protest the other funerals from Saturday's shooting.
KXXT-AM, a Christian radio station, confirmed that a member of the WBC will appear on The Steve Sanchez show between 7-8 a.m. Saturday.
“The host and owner of the radio show negotiated this interview in exchange for a promise from the members of that controversial church not to picket the funeral of the victims of this shooting rampage in exchange for the interview. Steve Sanchez has done this out of love for the community of Tucson and the victims,” the radio station said in a statement.
“KXXT does not agree in anyway with the representative of this church in Kansas nor does Steve Sanchez.”
The Arizona legislature passed a motion Tuesday banning protests at or near funeral sites, but the WBC indicated it would not be deterred by the new rules. Green's funeral, as well as that of U.S. District Judge John Roll, another victim of Saturday's shooting, are still listed on the WBC's online picket schedule, which was last updated Tuesday

------------------------------------------

Honestly, I really would love to kick that Phelps jackass in the nuts numerous times, preferably with steel-toed boots. He's a disgrace to humanity and I do NOT understand why they let him get away with the **** he DOES get away with. Free Speech should only go so far. Planning on picketing the funeral for a NINE YEAR OLD GIRL? I cannot believe how much much of an a**hole he is.

And they would not be deterred by the new rules(had the legislation gone into effect)? I have a feeling that they'll picket the wrong funeral someday and then there will be quite a few asses kicked.
