Gun Control is Completely Useless.

I like weapons of all types....I confess.

I would like unfettered access to anything I could carry away..........lol

But that is not realistic.

I think, as a compromise, the licensing system makes sense. Gun handling, safety training and a background check, and the time it takes to carry these out may even prevent some misuse, death and injury.

I do believe the classification of guns into "good" guns and "bad" guns is completely silly, as are magazine restrictions (see the vid attached to my profile called "quick shooter" ........understand the guy reloads in the middle......)

I also see no reason why trained and licensed individuals are not allowed to carry handguns.
Did you get your call from the CPC yet? They phoned me for support this AM.

Well, Colpy, it seems Mr. Harper has been listening to you, dismantling this charade is now underway. Guess it took about 10 years to finally get it understood that you don't make people safe by harassing law abiding citizens and registering guns that aren't a threat. Maybe they can use the money saved to start registering criminals. I'm guessing the all the money squandered would have been enough to "deep six" the Hell's Angels!

The money angle is just an angle. Unfortunately all of this will be dumped on the Provinces and will probably cost more in the long run. At least at the Provincial level it is easier to oppose.

I work all night.....sleep all day, so no, I didn't......
I wonder how they got my number.......

Colpy: A lot of people like weaponry. And for many good reasons.......with many bad ones too. Sure , I get a tad incensed about the degree of weapon fondness as is evident in the US ......and the reason is that the number of shooting incidents just keep crawling up. I don't fully know what they have there for gun control , and what the requrements are for buying and owning a gun.. as I don't know what the regulations are in Canada.

Having spent years in the medical field .....and have seen the atrocities that happen , many of them totally unnecessary.....but based on some irrational emotional reaction to a slight, insult or just about any garden variety excuse to use a gun... I admit to having a bias against guns. I have yet to meet anyone from the medical or related profession even consider gun ownership.

I also think that "self defence" is a weak excuse. but acceptable to many who want to own this hardware. In their minds.......it probably makes some kind of sense.

I am not sure if there is a real need to "carry" guns . IF folks are determined to own them.....and have gone through a rigorous review ......including mental health , and training with regular updating of their training..........not much anyone can do about that.

but that is just my perspective.

Now......I do know some folks that collect old guns because of their historical value and story ......but you don't find them on display as the risk of kids handling them is too high......particularly teenagers who are hormonal and discovering their more aggressive side.

There are decent folk and there are those who like to shoot cans....Mexi-cans, Jamai-cans, Afri-cans....

Those are people who need to be scrutinized.

What I would suggest is that if you must have some form of control over who has guns that, you change to people control. Check out everyone's mental health history. The gun is just a piece of metal. But all this is academic now looks like Canada is going to do the sensible thing.

I'm listening to the CPC LGR "on the phone town hall meeting". Apparently some guy who raises sheep is having kayoot(?) trouble...apparently he has a criminal record and can't get a gun. Yet he figures abolishing the LGR will clear his criminal record so he can get a gun legally? WOW

OI VEY!!!

Pretty funny, but he's wrong wrong wrong. He's gotta apply for a pardon to nullify the record, and we know how Harpo feels about pardons...........he don't like'em. I'd say he's stuck with the coyotes, unless a buddy will lend him a rifle. Even then, ya NEVER get ALL the coyotes. It's like trappin beaver galdangit.!

Try one of those wolf-killin-dogs..............Great Pyrenees or Mastiff/Pitbull/Mean Bastard cross.
