Gun Control is Completely Useless.

For the umpteenth time:

The vast majority of hits on the registry are automatically generated, or are the result of simple administrative tasks (3 hits at least for every firearms transaction).

A hit on the registry cannot EVEN reveal all LEGAL firearms at a residence, as guns can be lent perfectly legally from one license holder to the other, without notifying the authorities.

The ONLY dependable indication of LEGAL guns at a residence is the address attached to a licensed shooter.....and licensing is not part of this debate.

And, statistics show that if a police quiry reveals they are at the residence of a licensed shooter, they should breathe a sigh of relief, as he is several times LESS apt to kill them than anyone chosen at random from the general public.

IN ADDITION: The police would love to burn the Charter of Rights. The police would approve of the above-mentioned wrist-watch registry. The police have a tough job, and want every tool of control possible added to their repetoire.........that is why places where the police make policy are known as POLICE STATES. I, for one, don't want to live in a place where the police make policy, and I like police........

Yes, gun owners are insulted by registration, and injured. As we stand right now, thousands of guns registered legally and in good faith have been seized (stolen by the government) from owners without compensation. Right now, hundreds of thousands of legally registered handguns are slated for seizure.....without compensation. The RCMP just re-classified a weapon without cause, and they will be seized from their owners. REGISTRATION INEVITABLY LEADS TO CONFISCATION, which is the only reason the police want to keep it.

Now THAT is a insult to Canadian gun owners.
Besides that, there are an awful lot of people that registered their firearms without serial numbers.
Besides that, research has shown that there are hair driers, pellet guns, squirt guns, paint strippers, etc. registered.
Besides that, most of the cops that actually aren't behind a desk aren't terribly impressed with the registry. It's only the bureaucrats that seem to like the thing.
Besides that, there's a large fraction of firearms owners that didn't register any or some of their firearms.
But I don't expect those bits of info will ever register in some people's noggins. The good firearms owners of Canada have deliberately shown the registry to be the joke it is. And the criminals? They are still laughing.

Kindly back this up with facts...
Ask regular cops. Besides that:
33-year police veteran Jack Tinsley, said the issue has driven a wedge between what he calls "front-line officers" and the police leaders who "are perhaps not in touch with what is really taking place on the street on a day-to-day basis. I think they are forced at this point to appear to be unified on that topic, and I'm certainly of the opinion that their motives are politically motivated", Mr. Tinsley said.
Police rift emerges over long-gun registry

So far, I have received input from nearly 900 sworn police men and women from across Canada. Only 39 of those have shown support for the long gun registry. The other 850+ police members say it is not beneficial and should be scrapped.

The info is readily available on the net.

Northern Ontario,
Right after bill C68 cave into effect, I was still a very active member of our local shooting club, and a few OPP officers would come and target shoot with us.
I asked them officer what they thought of that bill, they said that if they were called to a family disturbance you would think that knowing there are guns in the house would help him, but he followed....not really because even if the dispatcher was to tell them that there is no record of any guns in that house or apartment, any police officer worth his salt has to go in using the same precautions as if he knows there are firearms present.

The U.S. Supreme Court knocked down Chicago’s ban on handguns yesterday and cleared the way for gun rights groups to file suit against New York’s City’s tough laws on who can keep and carry.

The initial reaction of Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) to the 5-4 ruling by the Supreme Court on 2nd Amendment rights was that “I am hopeful that it will not require New York to change any of its gun laws.”

But “this is probably not the final word,” said John Velleco, director of federal affairs for Gun Owners of America.

“This is probably the beginning of many new lawsuits. We’re looking at that in New York City, Massachusetts, California — many of the places that have super-restrictive laws.”

Other gun rights groups have said that they would file suit targeting New York City’s lengthy and difficult process for getting a handgun permit.

In its ruling, the Court held that the 2nd Amendment’s right to keep and bear arms was binding on the states.

“Self defense is a basic right, recognized by many legal systems from ancient times to the present day,” said Justice Samuel Alito in his majority opinion.

But Alito gave Mayor Bloomberg and others wiggle room to defend against a promised barrage of lawsuits.

Alito said the 2nd Amendment “limits (but by no means eliminates) their ability to devise solutions to social problems that suit local needs and values.”

Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justices Anthony Kennedy, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas backed Alito.

Voting in the minority were Associate Justices Sonia Sotomayor, John Paul Stevens, Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Yep....gun control laws in the USA keep getting zapped.....and the murder rate keeps falling.

Go figure.

In 1987, when Florida introduced the first "right to carry concealed" law, the murder rate in the USA was 8.3 per 100,000.

In 2008, with 38 states having CCW laws, and 8 others allowing some form of concealed carry, with millions of citizens carrying handguns every day, the murder rate is 5.4 per 100,000.

There are over 600,000 CCW holders in Florida alone.

Just found this:

"That rifle hanging on the wall of the working-class flat or labourer's cottage is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there." George Orwell

Mr. Orwell was a very wise man.

Eliminate all guns; all they bring is more violence and courage to weaklings.

Oh, so you are jumping from one subject you know absolutely F.A. about to another one you know absolutely F.A. about.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Enlightening rebuttal, I might have to change my stance on gun control now.

lol!!!!

Good luck with that!

Apparently you don't know what a rebuttal is , nor facts. I presented facts. Guns are useless garbage that only bring chaos and destruction and make a weak man feel like god.

My My, don't get your panties all in a knot.......

Actually, firearms and modern democracy are parallel developments. Firearms are what made the people master of their rulers.

Study a little history, then come talk to me.

Weak men are sheep, leaf-eaters that exist only to be prey...............strong men have teeth.
Often made by Smith and Wesson..........

Free men bear arms, slaves do not.

If you wish to be a leaf-eater or a slave, feel free.

Just don't expect me to follow your lead...........thank you very much.

BTW, firearms exist, how about dealing with reality in your propositions???

From what I can see, in this Thread of 28 pages, you have posted three posts totaling
five sentences, including the post above I've quoted (which is 60% of you contribution
to this Thread).

What are the facts you've presented? Just curious....

You're in some kind of delusion that democracy is a real thing and that we're masters of our rulers. :p

You also are under another delusion that somehow owning a firearm makes you a tough guy.

When did you get indoctrinated with such garbage?
