New York Post publishes nude photos of Trump's wife
TRAVIS M. ANDREWS, Washington Post
First posted: Monday, August 01, 2016 01:32 PM EDT | Updated: Monday, August 01, 2016 02:34 PM EDT
A brief history of potential first ladies who have had images of their naked bodies published on the front page of a newspaper during an election season: Melania Trump on Sunday’s New York Post.
That’s it.
The word “shocking” is thrown around in politics more often than a Frisbee on a college campus, but Sunday’s New York Post cover arguably deserves the distinction.
It features a photo of Melania Trump, completely nude, with stars over her nipples. Her hands rest between her bare legs. Its screaming, all-caps headline reads, “The Ogle Office.”
A line at the bottom of the page reads, “You’ve never seen a potential First Lady like this!”
That is not an incorrect statement. The closest approximation is when Settimio Garritano, member of the paparazzi, took unauthorized photos of Jackie Onassis sunbathing nude on Skorpios Island in 1971 — years after President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated.
The only thing more shocking than the Post’s cover might be what appears in its late edition: a photo of a nude Melania, being held suggestively by another naked woman, who is nuzzling the potential first lady’s neck. Black strips are drawn over their nipples.
Adding to the oddity of the cover is the fact that the New York Post endorsed Donald Trump in April. (Then again, maybe it’s not that surprising. The editorial announcing his endorsement stated, “His political incorrectness is one of his great attractions — it proves he’s not one of ‘them.'”)
The photos were originally taken for and published in a 1996 edition of Max Magazine, a defunct French magazine. Accompanying their republication in the New York Post is an interview with Alé de Basseville, the photographer who took the photos.
“I think it is important to show the beauty and the freedom of the woman, and I am very proud of these pictures because they celebrate Melania’s beauty,” de Basseville told the tabloid.
When asked about the photo with another woman, de Basseville said, “I always loved women together, because I have been with a lot of women who desired the ménage à trois.”
He added, “This is beauty and not porn.”
In a statement to the New York Post, Donald Trump said, “Melania was one of the most successful models and she did many photo shoots, including for covers and major magazines. This was a picture taken for a European magazine prior to my knowing Melania. In Europe, pictures like this are very fashionable and common.”
Jason Miller, the Trump campaign’s senior communications adviser, appeared on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” where he described the photos as “art” and claimed there’s no cause for embarrassment, that Melania is “beautiful.”
“These were photos that were 20 years, before Mrs. Trump met Mr. Trump,” Miller said. “There’s nothing to be embarrassed about with the photos. They’re a celebration of the human body as art.
Added Miller, “She’s a beautiful woman.”
The photos sent the Internet into a downright tizzy.
Gawker speculated that Trump himself leaked the photographs in order to take the spotlight away from his back-and-forth with Ghazala Khan.
Many, though, were simply outraged, citing the republication of the photos as misogyny, a cheap blow that has nothing to do with politics.
Emily Tamkin, a writer for Slate, called the cover “trashy” and said none of the aforementioned quotes “make this cover acceptable.”
“A woman should be able to agree to take naked photos for a European magazine in her twenties with the expectation that they will not show up on the cover of a newspaper/tabloid some 20 years later under the headline “Ogle Office” when her husband decides to run for president.”
Many Twitter users seemed to agree.
“I am appalled and outraged by The New York Post’s Melania Trump cover,” tweeted one user, added “Misogyny is misogyny.” “Just saw that New York Post cover. Ugh, trash,” tweeted another. A third , “Printing Melania Trump’s naked pics is vile.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time racy photos of Melania Trump have surfaced.
GQ recently republished a photo shoot featuring Melania from 2000 that included nude shots of the potential first lady, though these were carefully arranged to cover her most personal of areas. The photos were then used by the anti-Trump super PAC Make America Awesome in an attack meme, GQ reported.
This file photo taken on June 06, 2016 shows Melania Trump, wife of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, listening as her husband delivers remarks at Trump National Golf Club Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, New York. The New York Post on August 1, 2016 ran a front-page picture of potential first lady Melania Trump naked, prompting criticism on social media and charges of misogyny. It was the second day in a row that the Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid ran a front page nude image of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's wife from her years as a young model. NBC: 'Don't blame us' for Trump
By Bill Harris, Postmedia Network
First posted: Tuesday, August 02, 2016 02:35 PM EDT | Updated: Tuesday, August 02, 2016 06:13 PM EDT
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Does Donald Trump have a future in television if he loses the U.S. presidential election?
“I have no idea if he has a future in television, but he would never be back on The Celebrity Apprentice, if that's the question,” NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said at the Television Critics Association event on Tuesday. “As long as I'm here.”
Might Trump return to NBC?
“He's the Republican nominee, he's going to be on news programs and late-night shows, like every other person you see there,” Greenblatt said.
But what about an entertainment program specifically? If Trump loses the election, could he wind up back on another entertainment show?
“Oh, I couldn't answer that,” Greenblatt said. “I have no idea at this point.”
So you're tellin' me there's a chance ...
Greenblatt had confirmed just a few minutes earlier that the new version of The Celebrity Apprentice, with none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger as the host, will debut in January. Schwarzenegger has made the transition from entertainment, to politics, and now back to entertainment, so philosophically at least, Trump might be able to do so, too.
Trump, of course, was the longtime host of The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice. His public divorce from NBC, as one might expect, turned nasty.
Greenblatt was asked a question about the role of television in creating celebrities, and the real-life consequences that sometimes ensue. Boiled down, the question was, “Do you feel you're responsible for Trump?” And Greenblatt's response essentially amounted to, “Don't blame us.”
“I don't know what the consequences are,” Greenblatt said. “But is it the role of television to create celebrity in the world? That's kind of what every show does.”
“I think it's certainly interesting. And we do talk about it. Bedtime for Bonzo helped Ronald Reagan become a national prominent figure. Garry Trudeau (the creator of Doonesbury) was predicting that Donald Trump would run for president 15 years ago, before he was on The Apprentice. So we were happy to have a show that was doing really well with a guy who was a big TV star. It's impossible to predict where it goes from here.
“It surprised all of us that he would want to do this. But I guess that's what's great about this country. But I don't think there's really much of a correlation from one to the other. He has been a prominent figure for so many years. So maybe it's not surprising that he would embark on this kind of journey. But it is interesting that he was on the show for so long and now he is on the national stage the way he is.”
Greenblatt got the Trump talk started right away at the TCA event, greeting the gathered reporters by saying, “Good morning everybody, welcome to NBC, where we are committed to making television great again.”
Trump's campaign, of course, promises to “make America great again.”
Greenblatt's joke didn't elicit much of a response, largely because people still were getting settled. “Oh, wow, this is a tough crowd,” Greenblatt said. “That's it for the humour.”
Hopefully there will be lots of humour when Jimmy Fallon hosts the Golden Globe Awards next Jan. 8. Greenblatt confirmed the Fallon news on Tuesday, and of course it isn't a major surprise, with Fallon currently hosting The Tonight Show on NBC.
Greenblatt also confirmed that all four judges on America's Got Talent – Simon Cowell, Melanie Brown, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum – have been signed for another season.
Speaking of reality-competition TV, critics saw a new promo clip for the coming season of The Voice, which debuts Sept. 19. The Voice has added new judges Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys to go along with incumbents Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.
“As much as the world likes to make this girl cat-fight scenario, that's actually Blake and Adam,” Cyrus says in the clip.
Asked if NBC ever has considered rotating out mainstays Shelton and Levine, Greenblatt said, “They love doing the show and they love the paycheque.” Ouch!
And NBC is putting together a special to celebrate Tony Bennett's 90th birthday, which technically is on Aug. 3. The musical special will be taped at New York's Radio City Music Hall in September and will air on Dec. 20.

Fork-lickin' good: Trump mocked for how he eats KFC
Postmedia Network
First posted: Wednesday, August 03, 2016 09:32 AM EDT | Updated: Wednesday, August 03, 2016 09:50 AM EDT
Billionaire Donald Trump proved Monday he’s just a regular guy who occasionally digs into some Kentucky Fried Chicken – with a knife and fork.
A photo of the Republican presidential nominee was posted to Twitter, showing Trump about to eat a piece of KFC’s “finger-lickin’ good” chicken. However, he wasn’t using his hands to eat it as the slogan suggests – he was using cutlery. It was captioned, “Great afternoon in Ohio & a great evening in Pennsylvania – departing now. See you tomorrow Virginia!”
The tweet sparked some backlash and mockery online.
“Donald Trump was photographed eating Kentucky Fried Chicken because Colonel Sanders is the only military figure he hasn’t insulted,” tweeted Frank Conniff.
“Donald trump eats @kfc with a knife and fork. And just like that, he lost Kentucky,” wrote 22Minutes.
“Trump eats KFC with a knife and fork because he can’t hold the chicken with his tiny hands,” tweeted Travon Free.
“He’s a 'regular' guy who eats fried chicken w/knife and fork on his private jet-right?!” Scott Kawasaki wrote.
This isn’t the first time Trump has sparked controversy with a tweet about fast food.
On May 5, the businessman drew ire for a Cinco De Mayo tweet, showing him digging into a taco bowl.
“Happy #CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!” he wrote.

Above the Politico article making fun of Trump for believing the election could be rigged is... an article about how easy it is to "hack" the election.

Police: Man beaten with crowbar for wearing Trump shirt
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. -- Police say a man was assaulted with a crowbar in the parking lot of a New Jersey restaurant for wearing a Donald Trump T-shirt.
Peter Yankowski says he was walking in Bloomfield last week wearing a T-shirt featuring the Republican presidential nominee standing in front of an American flag. He says a motorist questioned him about his "Trump for President" shirt and they exchanged insults. He says a scuffle occurred soon after.
Police say Yankowski was struck with a crowbar several times and was treated at the scene. They say the motorist fled before officers arrived.

He was beaten for getting into an argument and exchanging insults, not for wearing the shirt. The shirt started it, but that's not the reason for the beating.

Police grab man climbing Trump Tower using suction cups in New York City
Ezra Kaplan, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
First posted: Wednesday, August 10, 2016 07:13 PM EDT | Updated: Thursday, August 11, 2016 12:56 AM EDT
NEW YORK -- A man who wanted an "audience" with Donald Trump spent three hours scaling the glass facade of Trump Tower on Wednesday using large suction cups, climbing as high as the 21st floor before police officers grabbed him and hauled him to safety through an open window.
The climber, identified by police as a 20-year-old Virginia man, wore a backpack and used a harness and rope stirrups to fasten himself to the side of the 58-story Manhattan skyscraper.
For a long time, the climber played a slow-motion cat-and-mouse game with would-be rescuers. Officers smashed windows and broke through ventilation ducts to block his progress. Police also lowered themselves toward him using a window washer's platform.
The man kept his distance by methodically working his way back and forth across the facade, repeatedly repositioning suction cups resembling a type commonly used by window washers to remove big panes of glass.
The chase ended dramatically just after 6:30 p.m.
As a crowd gasped on the street below, two officers leaned far out of a window, grabbed the climber's arm and harness, and in a flash yanked him from his dangling stirrups. He went through the opening head first, his legs pointed skyward.
"I reached out. I took hold of his hand and I said, 'Sir, would you come with me,'" said detective Christopher Williams, who made the grab.
Police had deployed large, inflated crash pads at the scene, but it was unclear how much protection they would have offered if the climber fell.
A day before the ascent, police said the climber posted a video on YouTube entitled, "Message to Mr. Trump (why I climbed your tower)." He posted the video under the name Leven Thumps, which is a character in a series of children's fantasy novels by the writer Obert Skye.
"I am an independent researcher seeking a private audience with you to discuss an important matter. I guarantee that it's in your interest to honour this request," he said. "Believe me, if my purpose was not significant, I would not risk my life pursuing it. The reason I climbed your tower is to get your attention. If I had sought this via conventional means, I would be much less likely to have success because you are a busy man with many responsibilities."
NYPD Assistant Chief William Aubrey said the man, who was not named by police, told officers the same thing after he was safely inside the building.
"At no time did he express that he wanted to hurt anybody," he said.
The tower is headquarters to Donald Trump's Republican presidential campaign and his business empire. Trump also lives there, though he was in Virginia in the afternoon and was headed to Florida for an evening event.
A Trump campaign spokeswoman didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
"This man performed a ridiculous and dangerous stunt," Michael Cohen, an executive at the Trump Organization, said in an emailed statement. "I'm 100 per cent certain the NYPD had better things to do."
The climber began his ascent from a terrace that is open to the public during the day. Police said he was taken to a hospital to be evaluated.

Trump accuses Obama of being the 'founder of ISIS'
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
First posted: Wednesday, August 10, 2016 11:30 PM EDT | Updated: Wednesday, August 10, 2016 11:36 PM EDT
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Donald Trump accused President Barack Obama on Wednesday of founding the Islamic State group that is wreaking havoc from the Middle East to European cities. A moment later, on another topic, he referred to the president by his full legal name: Barack Hussein Obama.
"In many respects, you know, they honour President Obama," Trump said during a raucous campaign rally outside Fort Lauderdale, Florida. "He is the founder of ISIS."
He repeated the allegation three more times for emphasis.
The Republican presidential nominee in the past has accused his opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton, of founding the militant group. As he shifted the blame to Obama on Wednesday, he said "crooked Hillary Clinton" was actually the group's co-founder.
Trump has long blamed Obama and his former secretary of state -- Clinton -- for pursuing Mideast policies that created a power vacuum in Iraq that was exploited by IS, another acronym for the group. He's sharply criticized Obama for announcing he would pull U.S. troops out of Iraq, a decision that many Obama critics say created the kind of instability in which extremist groups like IS thrive.
The White House declined to comment on Trump's accusation.
The Islamic State group began as Iraq's local affiliate of al-Qaida, the group that attacked the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001. The group carried out massive attacks against Iraq's Shiite Muslim majority, fueling tensions with al-Qaida's central leadership. The local group's then-leader, Jordanian-born Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, was killed in 2006 in a U.S. airstrike but is still seen as the Islamic State group's founder.
Trump's accusation -- and his use of the president's middle name, Hussein -- echoed previous instances where he's questioned Obama's loyalties.
In June, when a shooter who claimed allegiance to IS killed 49 people in an Orlando, Florida, nightclub, Trump seemed to suggest Obama was sympathetic to the group when he said Obama "doesn't get it, or he gets it better than anybody understands." In the past, Trump has also falsely suggested Obama is a Muslim or was born in Kenya, where Obama's father was from.
The president, a Christian, was born in Hawaii.
Trump lobbed the allegation midway through his rally at a sports arena, where riled-up supporters shouted obscenities about Clinton and joined in unison to shout "lock her up." He railed against the fact that the Orlando shooter's father, Seddique Mateen, was spotted in the crowd behind Clinton during a Monday rally in Florida, adding, "Of course he likes Hillary Clinton."
Sitting behind Trump at his rally on Wednesday was former Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., who resigned in 2006 after allegations he sent sexually suggestive messages to former House pages.

I am not surprised. Democrats are hate filled and intolerant and they've always been.

Now they attack people for wearing Trump shirts, vandalize houses and cars. It is pathetic.
