Trump's LGBT comments remind me of Hitler: Cyndi Lauper

Cyndi Lauper blasted Donald Trump during a Friday radio interview, comparing him to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
The 63-year-old singer/songwriter and activist told the hosts of San Diego’s Morning News she didn’t think the U.S. presidential candidate’s reality show credentials were enough to convince voters he should be the nation’s next leader, and she really took aim at Trump’s attitude towards the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender) community.
“The things that he says are appalling to me and shocking,” the True Colors singer raged. “I was so shocked when he started to talk about the LGBT community, when in fact, people... who did amazing work on his Celebrity Apprentice show were gay. You don’t talk about your employees like that ever.
“Even as a boss you have a responsibility for the people who work for you.”
Lauper is also unimpressed with Trump’s daughter Ivanka, 34, a former model with her own clothing line who is also a Trump executive and heavily involved in her father’s campaign. Ivanka was widely credited with persuading her father to first use the term ‘LGBTQ’ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer) during his speech at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio which referenced theOrlando, Florida shooting at gay nightclub Pulse that left 49 people dead.
“No matter what his daughter says, it has nothing to do with what that guy is selling,” she said. “That guy is selling inflammatory things that I have never in my whole entire life heard... except, you know, Hitler.”
Lauper has a history with Trump, having featured in season nine of his Celebrity Apprentice show.

British man pleads guilty in Trump attack case
Ken Ritter, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
First posted: Tuesday, September 13, 2016 06:16 PM EDT | Updated: Tuesday, September 13, 2016 08:22 PM EDT
LAS VEGAS — A British man pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. federal court to trying to grab a police officer’s gun and open fire at a June campaign rally for presidential candidate Donald Trump in Las Vegas.
Standing before a judge in orange jail clothes with the word “detainee” across his back, Michael Steven Sandford acknowledged that he has been treated in the past for mental illness.
Court documents say Sandford previously told a federal agent that he drove from California to Las Vegas with a plan to kill Trump.
“I plead guilty, your honour,” Sandford told U.S. District Judge James Mahan when asked for his plea to being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm and disrupting an official function.
“I tried to take a gun from a policeman to shoot someone with, and I’m pleading guilty,” he said.
Sandford didn’t get the gun before he was arrested, and no shots were fired.
The judge said he was satisfied that Sandford was fit to enter the plea, even though the defendant said he had taken the anti-psychotic medication risperidone.
Sentencing was set for Dec. 13 and Sandford was ordered to remain in federal custody.
Under terms of his plea agreement, Sandford could face between 18 and 27 months in a U.S. prison for his two felony convictions. He will get credit for time served, accepting responsibility for the crime and avoiding trial, which had been set to start Oct. 3. He won’t be able to appeal.
Sandford could have faced up to 20 years in prison if convicted of both charges at a trial, and up to 30 years on the three charges he initially faced.
One charge of being an illegal alien knowingly in possession of a firearm will be dropped, prosecutor Nicholas Dickinson said.
Sandford is “almost certain” to be deported and banned from returning to the U.S., according to the plea agreement in which he acknowledges he overstayed his tourist visa and was in the U.S. illegally for almost 10 months at the time of his arrest.
Sanford’s pleas came after he met in custody last week with his mother, Lynne Sandford of Dorking, England, and a lawyer who arrived with her from London.
Assistant Federal Public Defender Brenda Weksler also was involved in the meetings in Las Vegas. She declined to comment, and said Lynne Sandford and family attorney Saimo Chahal returned to England before Tuesday’s hearing.
Chahal said earlier that a psychiatrist she enlisted to review the case determined that Sandford was delusional at the time of the attempted attack. Sandford also suffers seizures, obsession-compulsion, anxiety and autism spectrum disorders, Chahal said.
“Michael was not in control at the time of the events and needs help,” the attorney said in an email to The Associated Press before the hearing. “He is desperate to return to the U.K. to be near his family as he has no ties with the U.S.A.”
Court documents say Sandford acknowledged telling the Las Vegas police officer that he wanted a Trump autograph and then grabbing for the officer’s gun with both hands.
Sandford told a federal agent that he arrived in Las Vegas two days before the campaign rally, rented a 9mm pistol and fired 20 shots at a paper target at a Las Vegas gun range the day before Trump’s appearance, according to court documents.
Sandford told the agent it was the first time he had ever fired a gun.
It wasn’t clear if Trump recognized a threat before officers escorted Sandford out of the 1,500-seat theatre at the Treasure Island hotel-casino. But the candidate, now the Republican presidential nominee, noticed the commotion.
“We love you police. Thank you. Thank you, officers,” Trump said as Sandford was ushered away.
In a statement following Sandford’s pleas, U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said “attentiveness and quick action” by security officers prevented a shooting in the crowded auditorium.
“The result was that no one was injured,” Bogden said.
In this June 18, 2016, photo, police remove Michael Sandford as Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks at the Treasure Island hotel and casino in Las Vegas. The mother of Standford who is accused of attempting to shoot Donald Trump told British television he will plead guilty to lesser charges in a U.S. court. Lynne Sandford, the mother of Michael Sandford, told the station her son has signed a plea agreement in advance of a Nevada court appearance Tuesday, Sept. 13. (AP Photo/John Locher, File)

Mount Royal student: Your 'Make America Great Again' hat is hate language
By Michael Lumsden
First posted: Thursday, September 15, 2016 02:27 PM EDT | Updated: Thursday, September 15, 2016 04:15 PM EDT
Concern over 'safe spaces' at a Calgary university boiled over into a confrontation this week between two students, one of whom was wearing a 'Make America Great Again' hat.
The incident — in which a female student at Mount Royal University insists that a male remove the hat commonly worn by Donald Trump supporters — came to light Thursday after this video emerged on Facebook.
In it the woman approaches a man asking him to take the hat off, arguing the slogan stands for hate language. The man refuses, insisting that he is in a public place and has the right to freedom of expression. He rejects the suggestion that it’s a hateful message.
The video ends shortly after another student snatches the hat away.
Security responded to the confrontation, but no sanctions are being contemplated.
Melanie Rogers, Director of Marketing and Communications at Mount Royal University, said officials are aware of the video but would not comment on specifics.
“Mount Royal University respects individuals who exercise their constitutionally-protected right to freedom of expression, as long as it is peaceful and respectful,” Rogers said.
Since the video appeared online, the woman taking issue with the hat has posted a Facebook response explaining her concerns.
"Today (Wednesday) I got into an altercation with a guy wearing a 'Make America Great Again' hat. I went up and asked him if he would take the hat off, explaining a university should be a safe space," she said.
"It was impossible to communicate to him why wearing a hat in support of a movement grown on the seeds of racism, bigotry and exclusion of diversity (sexual and cultural) could make some people afraid," she added.
Students and campuses across North America have been urging the creation of 'safe spaces,' ensuring all students are protected from intolerance. In some instances, critics have deemed them to be an exercise in political correctness.
Postmedia has reached out to both parties involved in the confrontation but they were not immediately available for comment.

Trump backers reimagine The Donald as Superman

Here’s Donald Trump as you’ve never seen — or imagined — him before.
The soon-to-be camp classic is part of a 55-foot-tall digital billboard in New York’s Times Square sponsored by a Trump political action committee (PAC) called the Committee to Restore America’s Greatness. The New York Post said the Man of Heel motif cost $25,000.
The ad was designed to show the GOP candidate’s “stamina”.
Dr. Robert Shillman — who paid for the ad — told the Post: “When I was a kid, Superman was my idol because he stood for truth, justice and the American way, just like Donald Trump.”

I'm 100% finished with all of this nonsense, for me it has become total boredom,
and empty information, which has nothing to do with facts at all.

whoever wins or loses this election, I don't care anymore, I've moved
on, hockey season is right around the corner, baseball is going into the
meat of the season, and the world cup of hockey is on, and this is all much
more a part of my real world.

but carry on folks with all of your silliness, and hatred of the other side,
whatever side you are on.

I don't think you can really blame her as the majority probably thinks we're all spectators of the biggest "game" in the world right now and most would probably agree there is a little more at stake in this "game" than a baseball or hockey game, even if they are the big leagues! :)

It's true that the whole process has become nothing but a silly mess. I've never seen so many non-issues hashed over ad finitum over issues that have nothing to do with the purpose of the election.
The media has made a total circus out of it!
See how they go on about what the candidates and anyone connected to them did years ago. 'He changed his mind....', 'She said that and now she's saying this.....', 'What did he mean by that......?', 'She shouldn't have done that.....'.
All stuff that happened years ago! Who hasn't changed their minds about things as time goes by?
Then they get the 'experts' on there; everybody's an expert on health, foreign policy, economics, you-name-it! But it's all just OPINIONS and most of time they don't know jack s h I t!
It's all designed to keep tv ratings up.
It's the funniest comedy show ever!

Apparently it is not a safe place for anyone that disagrees with this space cadet.Freedom of expression has no place on university Campuses unless it is deemed Politically Correct by the thought police.
This girl never did state why she does not want America to be great either.

She's just trying to dodge the fact that Trump still won't repudiate his birther BS.
That was Hillary in '08.

Comment by Mike Rivero

Even the Washington Post admitted that the whole birther nonsense was started by Hillary's 2008 campaign. So Hillary started this nonsense, then fanned it up, hoping to trap Donald Trump with it and distract everyone from her ongoing "pavement challenges" and the valid concerns that she has Parkinson's Disease. But Donald apparently read up on the facts, which is that Obama's biological father was Frank Marshall Davis, who met Obama's mother at UH Manoa. Frank was funding his education as a pornographer and Obama's mother was one of his models, and it was the 60s, the summer of love (followed by the autumn of gonorrhea) and out pops Obama the love child. When Obama's mother married Obama Sr. it was easier to re-issue a birth certificate than go through a formal adoption (and it did happen a lot back then).
So Trump evaded the trap Hillary set for him and we get to watch Hillary throw a tantrum right here on ABC!
