.......

Anyway, so I don’t think conservatives have waffled out of it at all, the main point of contention the stimulus package) is still unresolved. It is not over yet.
I agree.

Um, as far as aPAULing Martin is concerned, he may be a wonderful leader but he is extremely corrupt, self-righteous, and reckless. I wouldn't trust Ignatieff for a second. I like Broadbent, but I am extremely twitchy about NDP given the history of their activities in BC. And the Bloc are just too divisive for my liking. The Greens are radical.

I've seen various people's insistence that the Cons have done nothing productive, but then I've noticed that since they've been the gov't the nation's debt has been dwindling. To me that's pretty productive. But then most people are too blinded by their prejudice to see the good in others.

Who is "they"? "They" will always be the ones who pull the strings ... under any political string you can think of. "They" will always be the ones who change the rules to their advantage. It is money who really moves the madness. Government and law are illusions created to con the common man into believing in justice and the fairness of it all. They (Harper and cronies) may not be there much longer. Another figurehead will take his place and do all the same things all over again ... and the conned Cons will get to cry "Not fair!" It never is unless you are one of "them".
Dead right. Whatever label scum goes by is irrelevant. Scum is still scum.

The subsidy is only a part of the problem ... and the one you Cons have chosen to make an issue. Personally, I don't care for subsidy either. If Harper would get over his pout, he may even find backing down might even win him a bit of respect.
Harper did back down on this, but it wasn't the Conservatives that made an issue about it. The whiny fiberals, calmmering for power lead the charge....

But if the Grits were in power and did that very same thing to them you would scream not fair,
Look the Harper Cons are pulling all the stops in some how creating a self made majority in the house, starve the opposition to the point of bankruptcy and we will easily sail to victory, from that, to the 2006 elections Canada allegation of over spending to gain superiority, pulling snick stops to acquire power. Harper said today they want power (meaning the 3 parties that hold the balance of power)with out earning it.... What did the Cons do of any significance, not carrots on the stick and phony elusive politics, 25 months have gone by and that is why he ended with a minority because his report card for 2008 was not the greatest a C -. So Colpy the Harper bunch do not deserve sussex dr.
Its too bad your assinine party can't raise money on their own. If they can't run the economics of their own party, how do you expect them to run a country????

Explain how the Cons are more corrupt than the Glibs were, please.

YOu're catching on Praxius, Liberals and Conservatives are pretty much tarred with the same brush- some thought Diefenbaker was a liar, some thought Trudeau was a liar, some thought Mulroney was a liar and some think Cretien was a liar- get the picture.?

I'm not catching on. I caught on decades ago. As I said previously, scum is scum whatever the label.

20 years of IFs!

IF The liberals and NDP were to form a coalition government. They would rule till the next election...Flaherty would get elected with a majority ,till the next election..At that time Trudeau will be ready to rule for the next 10 years! ...IF he has what it takes...I believe he will, as long as he has the backing of the people, and can prove he can handle the spot light!!!...Not an easy task to accomplish ..Hard to convincingly face the cold staring eye of the Media's lense..Getting harder to fool the people watching!.Have to be able to do, what you say you will do!.It's as simple as that!!..(lol)....This coalition needs to happen for Canadians and it's "Democratic"parlimentary system ..!
Democracy deserves it!!..IF there is truly is any hope for our Democracy in the future..This has to happen...Right now!!!.....
At this point in time ...Democracy is an illusion!!...
It's DemoCrazy!!...............................................................

Is that you VanIsle2? What's Alex doing tonight?

JLM, yes that is VanIsle. And Alex is having big problems, the Canada.com forum appears to be going downhill. The forum has been dysfunctional for the past month. That is why I signed up here. Many of the bloggers from Canada.com followed me and signed up here as well. We have Spade, Cliffy, Iggy, BCPC (Sir Francis2004), Taxslave, MIT, and perhaps a few others that I am not aware of.

What did they do?????

Try to pull the lips of the left off the public teat?

Perhaps you should simply send them a cheque.

I'm boody tired of my money going to support the Separatist Party, the Naturally Demented Party, and those other guys.....if I want a political party to have success. I'll write them a cheque.....and have, often.

Why should I support your party?

You don't. Your $1.97 goes to the party you vote for.

Its a cash per vote system. Ergo, you are not supporting other parties you are only supporting your own.

If you do not support a party enough to give them 1.97, you really shouldn't be supporting them with a vote.

Its bullcrap to even pretend that this system has you funding other parties.

Its like saying if you split the check at a restaurant based on what everyone at the table ordered that you are giving money for other people to eat.

I really can't see this coalition working,
so i believe that no change is imminent.

My opinion only.

pgs, do you think that is going to stop anybody? In politics, it is usually shoot first, ask questions later (look at the way Harper brought down his financial statement who did he consult in doing that?). They will bring down the government and then try to work it out. If it doesn’t, there is always another election (which if it happens, will be after the budget is defeated in 2009).

Yes I've noticed that VanIsle2 has been pretty persistent in holding Alex's "feet to the fire", but I think I'm enjoying this forum just as much. There seems to be a little more flexibility but I'm still trying to figure out if it's possible to start a new thread.

Do you know how to start a new thread? Manners are so easy. Just a word to the wise....

Did you guys hijack threads for personal chit chat at home? Welcome aboard ... but please don't dis the place....

If we decide to indulge in personal chi chat, what is your problem? Nobody is forcing you to participate.

JLM, I agree with you, this forum is a little more flexible (though they did take out the ‘edit’ option, I don’t know why). canada.com forum was supposed to have been fixed by yesterday, but I don’t think it has been fixed yet.

The edit option is at the top RH side of your post.......
