Getting back to this whole "over-throw the Government in order to put the Liberal Party
in power with 1/4 of the seats in Parliament, backed up by the NDP's loyalty purchased
with 1/3 of all cabinet posts and $50BILLION slashed in tax cuts from Business, and the
loyalty of the Bloc purchased with a huge signing bonus which'll need to be repurchased
EVERY vote with more & more carrots only for Quebec at the expense of every other
province, to protect the MP's Porkbarrel funding using the lack of an economic stimulus
package excuse before knowing what the USA & G20 are going to do" sort of thing...

Sounds like the Conservative Finance Minister has now stated that the Spring Budget will
now be announced January 29th,2009 (which is still after Obama takes power in the USA
& announces his economic plans, so Canada can still make responsible decisions with the
Economy, in step with the USA and the rest of the G20).

This will still enable Canada to not irresponsibly and recklessly squander billions in promises
and bail-outs that might very well be diametrically opposed to the USA's stimulus package.

When, not if...."The Coalition for Canada & Quebec" overthrows the current
elected Government, does anyone believe they will irresponsibly announce an economic
stimulus package before U.S. President Elect Obama has been in Power for a week and
announced his intentions??? If they don't, we'll ALL know that this take-over wasn't about
the mini-budget dealing with an ecomonic stimulus package at all. If they do though, and it's
opposed to what the USA is doing and therefore flushing BILLIONS down the toilet....
Please remember this the next time you have a ballot in your hand before you mark an "X"
on it.

Acting on a Canadian Economic Package before Mr. Obama takes power of our neighbour
to the south of us (which is home to the Big3, and we do 80%+ of our Trade exports too,
and is the only country connected to us with a land border, and happens to have an economy
that is more than 10 TIMES the size of Canada's) would be reprehensibly irresponsible.
Forcing this overthrow of the current Government based on this would be equally irresponsible,
and equally transparent for what it really is...as an excuse to for this "The Coalition for
Canada & Quebec".

If we decide to indulge in personal chi chat, what is your problem? Nobody is forcing you to participate.

JLM, I agree with you, this forum is a little more flexible (though they did take out the ‘edit’ option, I don’t know why). canada.com forum was supposed to have been fixed by yesterday, but I don’t think it has been fixed yet.

Were you the trolls who wrecked canada.com?

Gilbert, I am aware of the rules, but there is no need to be Fundamentalist about it. I can understand it would be undesirable to hijack a thread for personal chit chat, but a little bit of personal chit chat doesn’t hurt anybody.

I was beginning to wonder what the chit chat about "manners" was all about, but I think I'm beginning to see- anyway you are the one making sense Sir Joe.

Has anyone seen the video of the NDP Chief bragging about setting things up with the
Bloc Chief....bragging about setting this overthrow of the Government in advance???
Right down to coming up with a name for the coalition that works for the Bloc who's
not actively in the coalition??? Sound's like Dion is just a puppet of the other two...

Dion isn't smart enough to do anything constructive on his own...

Well then, don't vote liberal next time. But frankly since he needs them to be PM and get 2/3rds of cabinet posts it isn't that odd.

Here's the Lib SpokesGuy claiming they're clueless abut the NDP-Bloc plan:

Latest : Back-room deal?

The doing the spin to try and make this look like it's still about the economy. Too
little too late as it's now public knowledge.

The way it sounds now (who knows in two hours), that this is Jack's plan, with Jiles
collusion, and Dion as their puppet. At this point Dion drives the 3 wheeled bus, but
he doesn't get to navigate. He's more of a Choefer...Hollywood couldn't write this
script!!!

At this point, Harper is coming off as the least crooked criminal politician out'a the
whole stinking pile. He could have delivered the tape of Jack&Jiles plans to take
over the Hill with the Liberals as their clueless tool in an unlabeled package, but
he manned-up and did it out in the open.

In a minority situation, the government governs at the sufferance of the opposition. Harper lost sight of this simple fact. He assumed that since we just had the election and he supposedly ‘won’, he could bring forth any legislation he wants, the opposition will have to go along with it.

He lost sight of the little fact that he didn’t have the majority. A majority PM can be dictatorial, arrogant, ignoring of the opposition and get away with it, but not in a minority situation.

Harper is going to learn this lesson the hard way. Now he trying to do everything he can to stay alive. He postponed the no confidence vote by one week, hoping that the opposition coalition will fall apart. That doesn’t seem to be happening; I saw on TV that they have reached a deal.

He tried to go back on the promises made in the financial statement, he said he won’t get rid of the public funding of political parties; he won’t take away the right of public servants to strike. He also said he will table the budget much earlier, in January instead of March.

But all this may be too little, too late. The time to make these concessions was before the financial statement, in consultation with the opposition. Making these concessions now merely makes him appear weak, it gives the impression that he will do anything to stay in power.

The least he could do now is to go down fighting, in a dignified manner. Making concession after concession with the gun of no confidence motion held to his head is not becoming of a Prime minister.
