Yes we are acutely aware that conbots don't want to pay for infrastructure.

It would be good for the economy and all.

I'm all for building infrastructure, especially when interest rates are low. It's not that about Jr. I object to. He's like a fart in a mitt.

True Christians should not vote for Stephen Harper: Michael Coren

Michael Coren recently announced in The Toronto Star that he won’t vote Conservative because he’s a Christian. “I will not be voting Conservative at the forthcoming election. Not because I am committed to party politics — far from it — and nor because I am convinced of the righteousness of any particular politicians — I am certainly not — but for one very simple reason. I am a Christian. Yes, I will not be voting Conservative because I am a Christian.”
According to Coren, Being Christian, involves “Stewardship of the environment, care for the poor and marginalized, the pursuit of peace, and personal integrity.”
He said the “Harper government has allowed ideology to triumph over scientific reality and has empowered deniers who are not given table-room elsewhere.” The Conservative platform is “as un-Christian as it is un-Canadian.”

A Christian is not necessarily a bonafide person- lots of them are as phony ( I liked it better when we said queer) as a three dollar bill! :)

Shades of Bill C 51........?

Tories yank '24 hour surveillance' stickers on signs in Harper's Calgary riding

The local campaign in Stephen Harper's Calgary riding was told to remove several "24 hour surveillance" stickers from the Conservative leader's election signs, after a member of the team put them up in an attempt to curb vandalism.

The stickers started popping up on several campaign signs in Harper's Calgary Heritage riding a few days ago.

The small, white-and-black stickers included a graphic of a surveillance camera and the text "24 hour surveillance," giving the impression the signs were constantly being monitored.

Here I thought it referred to the Conservatives constantly surveillance of Canadians.

Stephen Harper's Covert Evangelicalism

How an apocalyptic strain of Christianity guides his policies and campaigning.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper's love-in with Israel's right-wing government provides more insight on the influence of his religious views on public policy -- and the importance he places on pleasing evangelical Christian voters.
It also confirms what I wrote three years ago in a Tyee column that went viral across the nation.
That piece argued that Harper's own evangelical beliefs, which are closely aligned with extreme elements of the Republican Party, explained his disinterest in climate change and his government's pointed trashing of environmental science. It also explained his penchant for secrecy and his dislike of the media, environmentalists and other secular groups.
In particular I referenced the reportage of Marci McDonald, whose book The Armageddon Factor carefully outlined the growing strength of the Christian right on Canada's political landscape and its significant influence on Harper's administration.

It isn't strength it's devolution to base superstition of the Satanic kind. To characterise it as Christian sanitizes dangerous lunacy. These people have no idea of origin and no idea of destination.

A classic case of how figures can lie! I'm not pretending there should be any difference, but of course the gap is going to be more than twice the global average where part of the global average is made up of men who earn 10 cents an hour and women earn 9 cents an hour.

Why would any American man vote for a woman who has reached the height of commerce ?
Are Canadian woman unqualified for these kind of positions , or are they in fact reaching the top in all fields ?

Does gender make any difference to potential and if so what difference?

I don't believe so but the tone of Cliffy's post seemed to imply that they can't without government intervention .

Still deadlocked.

Harper had an enormous opportunity with the budget surplus and the debate.

Looks like old stock Canadians aren't buying it.
