Ride the high country was on tv today, sattelite express vu hd
joel mc rae and randolph scott and mariette hartley when very young
good color and great scenery
I don't see how "Big Country" can not make the top 10, so many good actors and actresses- Gregory Peck, Lee Majors, Charles Bickford, Burl Ives, Jean Simmons, Carol Baker, Chuck Connors.
I've seen that movie at least 3 times, all great actors. A real good movie,
well I wonder who picks those top movies, we could take our own poll and
pick our own, those picks are just someone's little poll, somewhere I would
assume. There are lots of good movies left out.
Doesn't anyone remember 'Giant' with rock hudson, elizabeth taylor, james dean.
A huge and long western made in Texas.
If I have to choose one, it will be Open Range.
By the way, I just bought Comanche Moon (2008 ) and the remastered Lonesome Dove (Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones, 1989) from Genius Entertainment.
 I guess the music was a little bad but the one thing about it is - even today if I hear that music, I know in a heartbeat what movie it's from. The good the bad and the ugly was a great show, but I got real tired of the music. The same with his other spaghetti westerns, the music and the staring
for me, took away from the movies and made them a little corny.
Sergio Leone the director/producer, did all of them the same.
I used to watch nearly any show with Robert Duvall. Lonesome Dove was a good show. Then when he said that he hated Canada and he hated Canadians, it ruined it all for me. I have never watched a show with him in it since then.I will look for that dvd, I have the book, but never did see the tv movie.
I suppose it will be on amazon.
I have all the lonesome dove movies, and also the tv series, I am actually
watching them again after about a year.
Who is in Comanche Moon?
I have Lonesome Dove, Return to Lonesome Dove, Deadman's Walk, and
Streets of Loredo.

I can't imagine him saying such a thing, how do you know it was true, and not
just some gossip from somewhere.
Parts of lonesome dove was filmed in alberta, then when he did 'broken trail',
not too long ago, much of it was also filmed in alberta, so if he did think that
at one time, I think he must have changed his mind.
And, what reason would he ever have to say that in the first place.
I felt the same about John Wayne years ago when he said that canada should
keep their noses out of their business, when we were concerned about oil
spills from tankers coming past our province.
I lost my respect for him.
i'm a big comedy fan... so i'd have to say Blazing Saddles.

This was the last big picture western I have seen. I did not go to the theatre though - pay per view in a hotel when it was new. I liked it.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)
Also 3:10 to Yuma - both original and remake. Liked the older better.
