I loved The Trap, a 1966 Canadian western. The Last Best West!
The Trap (1966)
Rent it if you can find it; you'll enjoy it! Hey, my dad trapped!

I have a hazy recollection of either reading a book or watching a movie that started out in New WEstminster in the 1800s and ended up somewhere in the Fraser Canyon, where a kidnapped deaf mute eventually fell in love with her kidnapper- if it's the same thing. That was about 100 years ago, so I'm not sure about my recollection.

Love those three. Any with Jimmy Stewart, directed by Anthony Mann, are pretty good. I think they were the first that really were filmed a lot on location, in color (except Winchester 73 is in b&w) There was also The Naked Spur, where the whole movie was shot outdoors (in the Colorado Rockies, I think) and The Man From Laramie.

Pretty scenery in Bend Of The River (Columbia River Gorge/Mount Hood, Oregon) and the plot twists are good!

My favourite is still "Tombstone" with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. It was a great movie.

Randolph Scott in Seven Men From Now was awesome. And Ride The High Country. I also like Joel McCrea! Joel McCrea, Barbara Stanwyck, Robert Preston, in Union Pacific, directed by Cecil B. DeMille. Good old fashioned western.

Bought an used copy of Apaloosa w. Ed Harris and Viggo M. and found it a pretty good and authentic looking western. It's from one of Robert Parker's books[one heck of a writer!]

I have the movie 'apaloosa', good movie, good acting, it lacks a flavour I like that
the older westerns have, but I enjoyed it.

I'm looking to buy the old mini-series 'How the west was won', james arness, bruce
boxleitener, and others, can't find it on amazon.ca, any advice?

Watched 'jeramiah johnson' the other night, robert redford, very good movie.

HMV has the original film with JOHN WAYNE for about 15 dollars:smile: Arness is good, but not in the same league as Wayne and John Ford,
