WHERE ARE THE TEA BAGGERS???????????

I bet you wish you had one standing over you Goopher.

I wish people would stop blaming Obama for this leak...I believe he was set up for this by Republican Oil leaders...Look deeply into the PR..You might find the Face Of Cheney and his ol' Oil buddies in the oil outline.....

Just Bad greasy /slimey politics..

Although Obama should have seen this one coming when he made the deal to allow more drilling in the gulf....

He was set up

Obama is the Best President the U.S. has had in Decades ...

Are you serious!

You'd think that this would be the democrat's slogan after Obama relaxed offshore restrictions and practically begged the oil companies to pull Obama out of the mess that he and the Dems have created.

One would think. They are trying vainly to seperate themselves from this mess.

What an awful job this administration has done concerning this. Obama relaxing restrictions basically gave BP the greenlight.

Indeed that is the official Republican Party line, as expounded by Limbaugh and others. Obama caused the spill to happen and now he wants it to cause the maximum possible damage.

No doubt most Republicans believe that. It will be interesting to see a poll on this, Whether Americans agree with Limbaugh and other Republians that Obama caused the spill.

But as the article in the opening post eloquently points out, it was the Republican refusal to implement any regulation on businesses that gave BP the green light.

I did like Reagan ..He was the first pres I ever followed "in real time"..But he didn't make "The Times" Top 100 influential people of all time 2010 list

Reagan was a great politician, but a lousy president. He started conservatives (both in USA and Canada) on the decade long path of borrow and spend.

Re: Drill, baby, Drill! Environmentalists Have the Last Laugh.

Why did Obama allow drilling in the gulf?..Was it not an agreement made between him and "certain" Republicans to seal the "Health Care deal"...That was Obama's only mistake...Making any deal at all with those particular republicans..Came back to bite'm in the ass...

After 70(maybe 75) years of age, all politicians should be forced to retire because they no longer have any vision for the future..Only for themselves ...
Leaders who Live hour by hour...Day by day ..Are Dangerous..
Dig deeper into the spill ...I think you'll see Cheney and his ol' Oil Boy's are guiding the PR.B.S..

Republicans have been enthusiastic supporters of ‘Drill, baby, drill’ for decades; they ran in 2008 on that slogan (as the article in the opening post points out).

Now they are all of a sudden changing the tune, claiming that Republicans have been against drilling all along, and Democrats are responsible for all the drilling that ever took place. Well, it remains to be seen if Americans swallow the malarkey. I really would like to see a poll on the Republican claim that Obama started the spill and wants it to cause maximum possible damage.

What Limbaugh said means absolutely nothing unless a link is provided- otherwise it's anecdotal.

Re: Drill, baby, Drill! Environmentalists Have the Last Laugh.

I hear ya, Sir Joseph Porter ..And Who is attempting to gain a lot of political support right now because of the leak?

Governor Bobby Jindal | State of Louisiana - Governor Bobby Jindal/G.O.P

Politcal/Big Biz B.S

What is happening on the South coast of USA is truly horrible and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody.

However, there is a kind of irony here, a poetic justice. The Bible Belt states such as Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama etc. have been on the forefront of opposition to any environmental regulations. These are Republican strongholds and as such strongly opposed to doing anything to better the environment. And these are the states which will be most affected due to oil spill.

It would be interesting to see if there is any more support to environmental regulation in these regions as a result of the disaster.

"Teabaggers are silent because they are licking their wounds. They are figuring out how to trash Obama for not doing enough and still not appear hypocritical (good luck with that)."

Perhaps they are having fits of conscience because it is their demands for deregulation that has caused this and similar messes.

"I bet you wish you had one standing over you Goopher."

Nah - you Log Cabin boys can play with yourselves. Have fun!

I'm curious, who recently relaxed those restrictions and begged the oil companies to drill the Gulf?..

Come to think of it, if memory serves - I believe it was Barak Obama

Obama made some concessions with the GOP in order to get his legislative initiatives enacted. Of course, the oil rig in Louisiana had already been in place so that it was not impacted by anything he did.

"The federal government did not have a single fire boom on hand."

That was the job of the oil company. Try again.

This topic should be nuked, the whole "dude just google 'obama bungles/fails'" and having so many results turn up thanks to idiotic tripe like this is almost too sad to bear

One right-wing "Obama WORST EVVVAR" topic on a Canadian forum is about all we need, seriously.

Unfortunately, that's the way politics works... But it doesn't change the fact that it was the Obama admin that eased those safe-guards.

Here is the real information.

Deepwater Horizon

From Wikipedia
Deepwater Horizon was an ultra-deepwater, dynamically positioned, semi-submersible offshore drilling rig which sank on April 22, 2010, causing the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The spill was the result of an explosion two days earlier where eleven crewmen died. Deepwater Horizon was built in 2001 in South Korea, is owned by Transocean and was leased to BP plc until September 2013. It was registered in Majuro, Marshall Islands. In September 2009, it drilled the deepest oil well in history at a vertical depth of 35,050. feet and measured depth of 35,055 feet . The oil spill may become one of the worst environmental disasters in United States history.

Obama had nothing to do with the drilling in the Gulf. The decision to drill in the Gulf of Mexico was made years ago.

Boy SJP, you really have a way with words. Republicans, Democrats, Right, Left, Bible Belt. Nothing at all to do with the subject. I am sure plenty of people will be in trouble when this is over, but not politicians this time.

Below are a few media reports from September 2009 discussing the BP Gulf of Mexico Tiber Oil Field find when it originally hit the newswires. This was the deepest oil and gas well in human history, going to a depth of 35,000 feet. Exploratory drilling began in March 2009. Deepwater Horizon did not commence until September 2009. Only the second story from Bloomberg hints at the "volatility" related to the find and the need for "caution."

The chatter began weeks ago as armchair engineers brainstormed for ways to stop the torrent of oil spilling into the Gulf of Mexico: What about nuking the well?
Decades ago, the Soviet Union reportedly used nuclear blasts to successfully seal off runaway gas wells, inserting a bomb deep underground and letting its fiery heat melt the surrounding rock to shut off the flow. Why not try it here?
The idea has gained fans with each failed attempt to stem the leak and each new setback — on Wednesday, the latest rescue effort stalled when a wire saw being used to slice through the riser pipe got stuck.

Re: Obama's bumbling of the oil spill

Notice how they keep saying they were on top of it from day 1? hahahahahahaha yeah right hahahahahahaha

Now look at this:
If U.S. officials had followed up on a 1994 response plan for a major Gulf oil spill, it is possible that the spill could have been kept under control and far from land.

The problem: The federal government did not have a single fire boom on hand.

The "In-Situ Burn" plan produced by federal agencies in 1994 calls for responding to a major oil spill in the Gulf with the immediate use of fire booms.

But in order to conduct a successful test burn eight days after the Deepwater Horizon well began releasing massive amounts of oil into the Gulf, officials had to purchase one from a company in Illinois.

Despite plan, not a single fire boom on hand on Gulf Coast at time of oil spill | al.com

Stop playing golf and campaigning all over the country Obama and do your F**king job!

Cut the guy a little slack- he had a horrendous job to do before this even came up. He is the President, not God, what special expertise do you think he should have beyond that of the ordinary citizen on oil disasters? I just heard on the news that people are getting upset because he's not fuming and cursing and throwing a tantrum. What good do the idiots think that would do? Just cause his blood pressure to rise.
