When I lived in Nova Scotia (1967-1971) Blue Nosers (people from Nova Scotia) referred to New Brunswickers (where Colby's posts say he's from) as Herring Chokers. It isn't an insult. It's like saying "Show me" when referring to someone from Missouri, "Big Easy" if he's from New Orleans or "Big Apple" to a New Yorker.
