Maritime Noon was airing an hour of questions/comments from people about how to help the GLBTQ+ community.
Education seemed to be the big take away.
I felt sorry for the one dad whose daughter is Trans. As he said, being respectful of someone's pronouns doesn't hurt anyone, but NOT being respectful causes life loss and damage to those people. Good on this dad and his wife for being supportive of their kid; more people like him need to speak out.
Pretty sad when I think we're more on the ball about the issue in some ways than the supposed "better" provinces to the west of us.

How about accepting the pronouns of the other 99%? Pronouns aren't harmful. Wear a sign. Don't make people guess and scream bloody murder if they called shit as it is.
How do they need help? They get a whole month of special treatment, a ginormous parade all funded by the taxpayer, unlike other parades like the Santa. Claus parade etc. They get to flaunt their weirdness without repercussions, unlike the rest of us who would get arrested for such a display. Then it is shown all over the news, so the rest of us are forced to see it.
When is our month and parade?
The other 11 months of the year.

As it is I don't like Pride Parades but whatever, I just don't attend any. Not that there are many around here; Halifax, Saint John, maybe Fredericton but don't think they happen anywhere else.

I don't think that everyone should be like me. Do what you want.....But, when I am being told that I must accept it all....on my dime....Fuck that. I don't go flaunting my sexual orientation. For all you know I may be as gay as any one of them, but that is no ones business but mine. I don't feel the need to yell it in the streets.
Specific month please....I know Feb and June are taken for these special people, we just want to feel wanted too.
Oh, and while you are at it, a specific amount of tax dollars so we can get our parade up and running.

You sure 'bout that? Question: do you have an S/O and do you walk/go out with them in public? When you do, do you face ridicule, slurs and threats of violence?
You could be and if only society at large believed like that. But they don't.
Most GLBTQ+ don't feel that way either.

The specific month would be up to you though, not me.
If you're not feeling wanted, blame those not wanting you. For GLBTQ+, it's society, it's their families, it's people in general... hell there are COUNTRIES who go out of their way to deny that anyone who is GLBTQ+ exists.
That's on you to bring up, not me.

Point being, Mardi Gras is a straight Parade that has a lot of the same stuff - if not worse, I mean, women expose their chests all the time - yet where's your outrage for that?
