About 15 years ago in the middle of the summer coming into town to get some supplies from where I was camped about 15 miles north of town, a couple of natives (I call them <cousins>now to tease my wife... didn't know I was metis at the time)
I said "sure" and while they were gone back in the bush to haul it out I contact the M.N.R. to make sure I wasn't doing anything illegal.
They tell me me it was OK as long as I didn't accept any moose meat in payment (yea right?)
One filet mignon (That's the tenderloin on each side of the back bone) was the best I ever tasted!

Politicians are trying to sell a national carbon tax to Canadians this election, but we shouldn’t buy it.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is pointing to B.C. as a template for a national carbon tax. But be warned: the B.C. carbon tax is not reducing greenhouse gas emissions and it’s filling up government coffers with taxpayers’ money. It’s a tax grab that is not helping the environment.
(IN other news- the number of cars registered in B.C. is going steadily UP!! This fact demonstrates the economic pressures of our gig economy with its myriad McJobs that all offer erratic schedules and frequent call ins at short notice!! Meaning that electric TOY cars with their LENGTHY refueling time will NOT WORK for our modern schedules!!!!!!!!!)

B.C.’s emissions have gone up 2.4% over the last three years and have increased in five of the last seven years, according to the B.C. government’s own data released this month. In 2017 — the most recent data year — GHG emissions are listed at 64.4 million tonnes, up from 63.6 million tonnes in 2016.

Politicians tell us that we are paying the carbon tax because it will reduce emissions but the government’s own records show that’s not happening. What is the point of paying an ever increasing carbon tax when it doesn’t work?

In 2018, the provincial government took in $1.7 billion from B.C. taxpayers through the carbon tax, and it’s planning on taking $2.2 billion from taxpayers by the year 2021, when the carbon tax is jacked up to $50 per tonne.
Politicians also told us that gasoline and diesel vehicle use would drop because of the carbon tax, however the government data again shows that’s not true.
Emissions from gasoline powered cars are up 6.2%, pickup truck emissions are up 18.7%, and heavy duty gasoline truck emissions are up 10.4% over the last three years. When it comes to diesel use, there was a large 47.8% jump in emissions from light-duty diesel pickup trucks over the past three years.
Let’s look at how much this carbon tax costs us for everyday life.
At the pumps, the carbon tax costs B.C. drivers about $7 extra to fill their minivans, $11 extra for their pickup trucks, and $19 extra for their diesel super duty pickups.
If a commuter family has a sedan and a pick up truck and fills up once a week, they pay more than $900 extra per year just to get to work and take the kids around.
For a tractor trailer truck – the ones that deliver groceries to grocery stores — filling just one of those diesel tanks costs an extra $48 in carbon taxes. This adds to the cost of everything.
(WE should understand that the carbon tax SCAM is a tax GRAB ON EVERY- THING!! When delivery costs go up - so do retail prices - AND SO DO GOVT SALES TAXES on the retail items!! LIE-berals have created new tax grabs from MULTIPLE SOURCES AND economic levels as a result of higher sales taxes that are being DRIVEN by the carbon SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
When the carbon tax was first foisted upon British Columbians in 2008, we were told that the tax would reduce greenhouse gas emissions, stop at $30 per tonne, and it would be “revenue neutral” because other tax cuts would offset the carbon tax.
Today, none of claims are true. The carbon tax has been hiked up to $40 per tonne. Politicians have dropped the malarkey moniker of “revenue neutral” altogether and the government is just keeping the extra revenue instead of even pretending to offset the carbon tax with other tax cuts. On top of it all, GHG emissions are going up, not down.

The more I read about the Liberal government’s plan to reduce gun violence, the more I want to jam scissors into my head. How did people so stupid get into such positions of power?
The Liberals have announced they are going to spend somewhere between $250 and $600 million on their program, which includes some sort of a buyback program to get weapons from legal gun owners in Canada.
The stupidity of that idea defies belief.
This is from the Liberals’ web site describing their plan: “(We are) introducing a buyback program for all military-style assault rifles legally purchased in Canada, with fair market prices for owners and more resources for law enforcement to administer the program.”
So, more bureaucrats apparently.
There’s no question in Canada we have a gun problem. But it is an illegal gun problem. Weapons in the hands of legal, licensed, gun owners who have gone through background checks and follow all of the draconian laws in Canada is asinine.
To commit between $250 – $600 million for this program is beyond asinine.
But here we are.
The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police came out publicly at their annual conference in August and said specifically that Canada does not need more gun laws and regulations. But best advice and common sense be damned, the Liberals will forge ahead.
Anyone with any exposure to what is really going on in our cities will tell you that the gun problem in the first instance, is primarily a handgun problem, not an “assault weapon” problem.
In the second place, it is a matter of illegal guns not legal guns. Imposing more regulations on legal gun owners is just plain stupid.
In the third place, there is no such thing as an “assault rifle.” Any rifle will just sit in its locker until its owner goes and gets it and loads it. Then the owner can assault someone but the weapon is not responsible.
If I keep a nine iron or a Louisville slugger behind my front door in the event someone unwanted tries to storm in, does my nine iron become an assault nine iron?
Durham Regional Police Chief Paul Martin said in his annual update to council this week that he is mostly concerned about the proliferation of guns in his community. Martin said that there was a time when police rarely seized a gun but that now it happens “with great regularity.”
What he is really saying is that handguns in the hands of gang bangers and organized criminals is growing and police are seeing it.
To be clear, organized crime is the problem, not legal gun owners. What the Liberals are proposing to spend on their ill-advised gun buy-back program is more than governments give to law enforcement nationwide to investigate organized crime. Think about that.
In B.C., as an example, there are approximately 120 members of the Hells Angels, approximately 1000 members of Asian Organized Crime, a handful or Traditional Organized Crime members (TOC or Italian), and hundreds of members of street gangs like the Red Scorpions and the United Nations. And then there’s the puppet gangs of all of the above who do the dirty work and sell the drugs and illegal weapons used on the street.
To investigate the network of a single Hells Angel, it takes police somewhere between 12-20 officers to investigate the network of dealers, muscle and organizers. Then it costs money to conduct the electronic surveillance required along with several folks in the “wire room” monitoring the intercepts.
By the time, a year or more, that a case can be brought, the cost of the investigation can be upwards of $3-$5 million as long as things don’t get too complicated. And that’s for the network of one Hells Angel or one TOC member. Never mind the Big Circle Boys or the Sun Yee On triad or the real money that really runs the Asian Organized Crime syndicates.
The idiotic gun buy-back program of the Liberal government is more than the budget combined of all the organized crime law enforcement units in the country.
The Liberals aren’t serious about the gun problem. They are only serious about the Liberal perception of the gun problem, not what it actually is.
It’s frankly embarrassing that these are our leaders.

The most disturbing thing about watching Justin Trudeau and his Liberals drip out plans for their gun control strategy is watching them take aim at the wrong targets.
To say they’re shooting wildly would be an understatement.
We can’t deny that there is a spike in gun crime in Canada — Toronto was just shy of 500 shootings in 2019 compared to 177 shootings in 2014, just five years earlier.
Calgary, Ottawa and other major cities are either higher than the year before or higher than their multi-year average.
Most of the shootings are carried out by gangs using illegal handguns, and yet most of Trudeau’s efforts dealing with this very real problem are focused on legal and law-abiding gun owners.
He’s suggested confiscating rifles — with no crime history in Canada — while compensating the owners.
That could cost more than $1 billion.
He has said he will let cities ban handguns while ignoring that those committing the crimes are already using illegal guns.
His latest claim is that we need “red flag laws” to take guns away from people who are a threat to themselves or others.
That power already exists under Canada’s existing firearms legislation.
But Liberals being Liberals can’t resist importing a good political trope from the United States. and “red flag laws” are big down there.
Anyone who has the slightest clue about Canada’s gun laws knows they are not the same as American laws — not even close.
Still, the Liberals import their arguments from their friends in the American Democratic Party, thus the focus on “red flag laws” and banning the AR-15 rifle.
The AR-15 is the most popular sporting rifle in North America, if not the world.
There are more than 75,000 of them in Canada legally, and that is a conservative estimate.
Despite that many rifles being in legal circulation, there is no history of the AR-15 being a crime gun in Canada.
Not in any serious way.
There was a mob hit gone wrong a few years ago where one was used but that is an anomaly, it wasn’t legally owned.
This past weekend police in Brampton, Ontario put out a news release about several firearms being seized.
The two pistols are so small that they have never been legal in Canada and were obviously smuggled in, the rifle was described as an ‘AR-15.’
Yet despite giving Peel Police four days to give me an answer, they can’t actually tell me the make and model of the rifle — they simply say it looks like an AR-15.
In truth it looks like an illegal, homemade rifle that was probably smuggled into the country along with the pistols.
The problem in Canada is smuggled firearms — estimates range between 80% and 84% of crime guns being smuggled.
So why is the government trying to tell you that they will make you safe by taking rifles away from people who have not broken the law, bringing in more paperwork laws for law-abiding gun owners and leaving gangsters alone?
One of the worst parts is that the government will do this without debate and without releasing any supporting documents.
Researcher Dennis Young asked for documents related to a cost-benefit analysis of gun control measures and was told they could not be released.
The opposition Conservatives have asked the government to produce information showing how many crimes have been committed with the guns they want to ban, something they have yet to do.
The Liberals know their plans won’t make you safer, but they hope you will feel safer knowing they have done ‘something.’

My nephew lives in Colorado and he has been sending me posts about their red flag laws. Latest was some woman tried to use it to disarm the police on the grounds that they were dangerous to her wellbeing. Got thrown out of court but it shows how dangerous gun grabbers are to society.

Long an admirer of China’s Communist government, Justin Trudeau is bringing in his own red flag laws.
This week, Minister for Gun Confiscation Bill Blair announced the Trudeau Liberals would bring in a new law to encourage social surveillance.
Not satisfied with Canada’s strict firearms laws, which currently allow the police to seize firearms and revoke a licence when there is a threat to public safety or the safety of an individual, Bill Blair and Justin Trudeau want more power.
The scary thing is, they are not even trying to pretend what they want to do is Constitutional.
Just look at what former police chief Bill Blair said in the House of Commons, during question period, while actual cameras were rolling:
“What I can tell you, the authority that exists in law, the laws that are currently available, that enable law enforcement to seize firearms and to revoke licence are limited in their application, and it is only in the circumstances where reasonable and probable grounds exist, and it is only in circumstances where a seizure of a firearm has taken place that a firearm (licence) can be revoked.”
The reason current laws in Canada require “reasonable and probable grounds” is because that is what the Constitution demands. That is what justice demands.
The Charter of Rights and Freedoms is clear. Section 8 says “Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure.”
Bill Blair and Justin Trudeau have made it abundantly clear they want to pass laws to make it easier for firearms owners to be harassed into giving up their firearms.
If Trudeau gets his Red Flag Laws, how long will it be before the law is abused the same way officials in Red Flag Communist China abuse their laws?
If the threshold for taking away firearms is no longer reasonable and probable grounds, that only leaves unreasonable grounds.
Your neighbour doesn’t like the way you mow your lawn?
Your ex-husband jealous you’re spending too much time at the range?
Once the Constitutional safeguards are ripped away, the law can be bent and warped in the pursuit of power.
Ultimately that is what this is about.
Like the Communist Party in China, the Trudeau Liberals can’t tolerate citizens who are not at the complete mercy of the government.

The people of China live under a government that tracks their every movement and punishes them for non-compliance with Communist ideology.
Chinese students are instructed on how to report their parents and close friends for violations.
Loyal communist officials use the social credit system to punish political dissent, while the corrupt communist officials use the system to punish those who don’t pay their bribes.
