This trade war is about having the media headlines being about bringing jobs to America ..... And only after we wean 20 or 30 million from social assistance of some type.

The U.S. owns Canada and they get to flex their financial muscle when they feel like it.

I think we can expect to see huge changes with Arctic Sovereignty and debates as to who really owns the oil and gas within the Arctic? The U.S. is going to challenge our present Northern border lines. They may even demand changes to the Great Lakes Treaty so that they can divert water to California.

The U.S. intends to bring us to our knees if need be. Look at the Folks in Puerto Rico after the hurricane and witness just how much sympathy the Americans have in their minds for a "U.S. Territory" and you might then well imagine just what they think about "Foreign" Canadians.

The U.S. intends to walk away from the United Nations completely as China continues to rise upon the world stage. America has broken International Law when they moved the Israeli embassy to Jerusalem, and they have no regard. They and their "Coalition Of The Willing" will tag along with them.

The U.S. will walk away from the WTO if need be.

Canada is a vastly wide country full of treasures, wealth and resources .. so the US needs it very much. And if there is a strong Canadian government policy, it will subject the US to its will.

the softwood duty issue has been around for a hundred years. I am finding it difficult to put reimposing a duty (at the conclusion of a long negotiation)that has been on and off dozens of times in the same ball park as unilaterally altering the international trade of metals.

but then again I am not desperately trying to normalize the action of President poop for brains.

Canada could have made the deal Obama offered them but they decided they might get a better deal from Trump. Just another great decision there.
