The tax is not intended to reduce emissions or reduce temperatures. It is a tax to increase revenue.
I understand that. It was my point. Just a tax grab. But this idea is making more anti global warming people because of it. It has nothing to do with the fact of global warming. Just capitalistic governments way of saying they are dealing with it by getting more money from you.
$30K a house to go off grid.
CMHA says there are 7,329,150 houses in Canada.
See the problem?
That's only electricity.
Now what are going to do about gas to heat them?
Geothermal is $15K.
Keep in mind a heat pump craps out after 5 years and so do batteries for the solar and wind.
It ain't gonna happen.
I see the problem... But possible solution is to invest in our own way to make and manufacture them more cheaply. And I know people who have done it it for $15 grand.
Government can help us get the stuff on our houses and we can pay like a hydro bill till its paid off.
As of now, it takes 8 years to pay off the solar system in regards to paying a normal hydro bill. These panels last 25 years so its like 15 years without a bill.
As for heating there are many ways to heat your house with the day time sun and even store this heat. Add a really insulated house and electric heat to compensate through the night and you are good.
Already the average southern Ontario solar house supplies 1.5 to 2 houses of power. So the high power houses help the low power ones. All connected to the grid. Even now there is a surplus of power from our windmill farms. IF every house absorbed power we all would be good. We just need Niagara Falls to pick up the slack.
