Heavily armed Taliban fighters blasted their way into a Pakistani air force base with possible links to the country’s nuclear program in a brazen assault that took two hours of fighting to put down, leaving a security officer and nine insurgents dead and underscoring the group’s continued threat despite numerous military offensives. Hours later, Taliban gunmen in northern Pakistan forced 20 Shiite Muslims off buses, lined them up and killed them, the latest in a series of sectarian attacks that the government has seemingly done little to stop.

The separate incidents emphasize two daunting challenges the nuclear-armed country faces. The Pakistani Taliban continue to pose a potent threat despite numerous military offensives against their sanctuaries along the Afghan border. At the same time, sectarian violence plagues the Sunni majority country where Shiite Muslims often feel under attack.

No matter how many warts Canada may have, I am so thankful that I live in a country where incidents like that aren't a normal occurrence!8O

So where is EAO defending the terrorist actions?

Must be Israel's fault
The Taliban aren't the boogieman you know.

They do all sorts of good things for the community. They even have a cultural practice of protecting wanted criminals, because they are guests.

Some people think that's admirable.

Unlike you, I condemn all acts of terrorism including this one. Your condemnation of terrorism is highly selective, like most people who get their opinions from cable news pundits.

From Amnesty International's 2012 report re: Pakistan

The Pakistani Taleban targeted civilians and carried out indiscriminate attacks using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and suicide bombings. Several tribal elders were victims of targeted killings. The Taleban also tried to assassinate a number of politicians affiliated with the Awami National Party. According to the government, 246 schools (59 girls’ schools, 187 boys’ schools) were destroyed and 763 damaged (244 girls’ schools, 519 boys’ schools) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as a result of the conflict with the Taleban, depriving thousands of children of access to education. Threats of violence from the Pakistani Taleban imposed severe restrictions on access to health services, education and participation in public life for women and girls.

  • On 9 March, a suicide bomber attacked the funeral of an anti-Taleban leader’s wife , killing 37 people in the outskirts of Peshawar. Tehrik-e-Taleban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the bombing.
  • On 18 July, TTP released a video showing masked militants executing 16 captured policemen in response to earlier footage of Pakistani forces executing arrested insurgents.
  • TTP claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing on 19 August that killed at least 47 and injured more than 100 during Friday prayers at a mosque in Khyber tribal agency.
  • In September, Pakistani Taleban insurgents abducted 30 boys aged between 12 and 18 on the Afghanistan border in Bajaur, and attacked a school van in Peshawar, killing four children and the driver.

How many Muslim enabling and apologist threads do we need?
How bout we go through the Torah and the Qur'an line by line and see who advocates violence and slavery most? Would you like to see your mother under Sharia law, how about a sister?
Christianity, which is irrevocably entwined with Judaism has progressed and is not stuck in the 12 th century, you have that to thank for your freedom to protest, decry any religion, and not have your head chopped off for it. Just wondering here what would happen if you were to post a pro Israel, pro western, position on an Iranian website while physically living there? I greatly doubt that you would be merely shouted down.

Our basic background of "progressed Christianity" also allows those who accept no religion at all to not be discriminated against.
Even little dogs yapping safely in their own backyard.
