Israel must be getting sloppy in its old age. They used to be very effective, accurate, and efficient soldiers. Now they're beginning to look like they are run by the Central Idiot Agency.
Ah. They always send a sledgehammer to swat flies, do they?Every time an Israeli Soldier kills someone they are automatically guilty by a vast number of people. They were not to sloppy - could they have done this better - yes - but the point was no one was expecting an attack, a provocation to create causalities -not only Israel's and then it would have been a PR win for Hamas, and the freak from Turkey and Iran.
...............................................
Autopsies on some dead activists indicate they were shot several times in the back of the head at close range, consistent with an execution after they were subdued, not self defense as they attacked Israeli commandos:
Execution Style | Tikun Olam-???? ????: Make the World a Better Place
When you shoot someone who is attacking you, the bullets normally don't hit them from behind.
If Israeli commandos were on a murderous rampage, who can blame people for defending themselves with weapons of opportunity.
........................................................................
Which is why this incident should be thoroughly investigated by an independent body. Israelis, Turks, activists and other groups involved should have the same right to present and question evidence. If that doesn't happen, Israel can basically kiss their relationship with Turkey goodbye:
Turkey demands Israel raid probe - Europe - Al Jazeera English
The problem, quite seriously, is that the Israelis did not expect to be attacked by loonies, and sent their guys on armed with paintball guns.............handguns carried only for defense.
They didn't use enough force..........I doubt the attack on the boarding party would have happened in a cloud of CS gas, and into the muzzles of MP5s and shotguns.
Israel expected protesters.....they did not expect Islamists.
The choppers only has so much fuel. They could see the clubs from above. They had the right and the obligation to demand the Captain collect all the weapons before they came down the ropes. Stalling could have made the gathering slow enough that the choppers had to go and re-fuel, not in the Israeli plan. As it was it appears that the blows stopped when they tapped out.The problem, quite seriously, is that the Israelis did not expect to be attacked by loonies, and sent their guys on armed with paintball guns.............handguns carried only for defense.
The Turkish military is on the record as saying they would have opened fire sooner if attacked by clubs. They didn't use enough force..........I doubt the attack on the boarding party would have happened in a cloud of CS gas, and into the muzzles of MP5s and shotguns.
They should have they had the organizers labeled as terrorists to the world. Any of those beatings the IDF recieved could have been a death just as easily. As it is, once they stopped being aggressive the blows from the clubs stopped, some were even treated unless it was vinegar being dabbed into the open wounds.Israel expected protesters.....they did not expect Islamists.
Iran's up for acceptance into NATO, wow, didn't see that one coming.a
ahhhhh...Israel's relationship was done with Turkey the day the Islamists were elected there........and began to drift closer to Teheran.
Totally an illogical answer, even for you. No one supposedly assaulting from helicopters would weigh themselves down with unnecessary items.Actually that's misleading. From what I read, the paint guns were attached to automatic weapons loaded with bullets. Those are the guys who switched over to lethal force.
They can offer to do the inspections for Israel and once that is done the ships are free to continue on to Gaza City.Totally an illogical answer, even for you. No one supposedly assaulting from helicopters would weigh themselves down with unnecessary items.
There is no non-violent way to break the blockade. Israel has made it clear that they will stop any and all ships trying to break thru. How much warning do those of you against Israel need. If any of you actually did go and try to run the blockade, you would only have yourself to blame for the consequences. I personally advise against it though. I don't think Turkey will attempt anything and you would have had a nice trip. Iran on the other hand will be a different situation.
Ah. They always send a sledgehammer to swat flies, do they?
Let me see, I am going to visit someone in East Vancouver so I better be driving an Abrams tank. lmao
On the other hand, unless the pro-Pallies were incredibly stupid and thought a few knives and clubs could take on commandos, helos, and misslie ships, they must have been baiting Israel into doing something really stupid.
And if all they wanted was to lead the convoy of aid ships to dock, why bother boarding them at all?
So either Israel is getting stupid or it is getting sloppy.
Not really I mentioned it in post #487 and nobody said a single word that would support any condemnation. So if we didn't mention anything then why bring it up as being important now?In retro respect they were not part of the actual battle and it is a cruise ship that should have been hailed and through a bloodless search and seizure has banned goods removed and then allowed to proceed. Any life insurance agency would up your premiums and most likely cancel it if your hobbies include 'blockade running'. That also goes for covering University riots against the ruling Government in any country. Being boarded by pirates on the high seas cannot be a planned event. One point though - Parents that brought children along I am sure should be open to a number of charges by their home countries and yes even the UN. A point that has been overlooked

The idea of running the blockade, especially with Iranian naval escort, is insanity that will cause great bloodshed and death.I find it unlikely that Israeli soldiers would go on a mission without an option to resort to lethal force.
Non-violent resistance has defeated military forces:
For example:
Dharasana Satyagraha - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Every time a soldier beats an unarmed, non-resisting, non-violent resister, they loose a little of their humanity. Eventually they become completely disgusted with themselves and what they are doing and refuse to continue their violent actions.
Also, the Israeli navy might be able to stop 6 ships, but can they stop 60 or 600? Even if they were able to do this it would be a huge expense and diversion of resources which would continue to keep the world's attention on Israel's blockade of chocolate, potato chips, macaroni and cheese and other existential threats to Israel. If some of the aid gets through, it might help reduce the rate of malnutrition suffered by Gaza children which has caused about 10% of them to experience stunted growth and other developmental problems.
Uhmn ... my dear uninformed chat-partner. Let the record show that establishing a naval blockade is an act of war. She cannot be coaxed into doing something she is already doing? What are you a ...... friend of bad logic? You are pushing Israel to war.
We need an enforcemant arm, the UN is it. If you don't like it, too bad. Its funny how people turn against the UN when they don't go along with their way of thinking.

The UN is too busy keeping Hezbollah from re-arming. lo really effin l

You idiots expect Israel to back off and allow Iran to arm Hamas with much superior missiles and other hardware. That will not happen.
Israel will either enforce the blockade at any cost....or more likely will simply re-occupy Gaza with overwhelming military force, hunt down and kill Hamas operatives......with Gaza occupied, what will the idiots do???? No place to land their "aid".
You are pushing Israel to war.
Quit being stupid.
I would not participate in anything involving a military escort. The presence of war ships would not further the cause to lift the Israel's blockade of fresh meat, cheese, macaroni and chocolate. I understand that the very idea of these items entering Gaza has caused Israel's leaders great concern and fear for their safety, but I think the threat toi Israel's existence posed by baby diapers and pajamas has been exaggerated.
As far as I know, none of the ships in this aid flotilla were smuggling arms of any kind. The only weapons I saw were things kitchen utensils, sticks and stuff people normally throw in the garbage. Can you provide a link which supports your allegation that this convoy was smuggling Iranian missiles into Gaza? As far as I know their cargo consisted of medicine, food, clothing and materials for building shelter. In other words, the basic necessities of life which Israel has arbitrarily deemed to be an existential threat.
They were going to Gaza - The Israeli's offered them the option of docking in Israel by the first grouping of ships - It was rejected- The purpose was to break the blockade.
One point though - Parents that brought children along I am sure should be open to a number of charges by their home countries and yes even the UN. A point that has been overlooked - The UN has a number of treaties that have been signed off by a substantial number of countries - I am sure Ireland is one. But as we all know that would not fit the setting now would it.
